Not the kind of freedom our soldiers fight for, but the kind that we are responsible for ourselves. We live in a free country, but so many of us are still imprisoned shackled. So many of us have sentenced ourselves to a life sentence in the prison of our own minds by our lack of faith. The story of Paul and Silas tells us about two men, strong in their faith - and the challenges they faced while sharing the Gospel. Their example teaches us a very important lesson - life is probably not going to be fair to us but as children of God and as believers, we must still be obedient to His word and to our faith. By being obedient, God will break those chains that have kept up constrained for so long - freeing us AND the people around us. This after all, is the ultimate mission: bring His children to His feet and show the world who He is.. Jesus Lopez gave his first sermon “20/20 Vision” and it was so fire. It was about Caleb from the Bible and how much faith he had during his walk to the promised land. If you want to go in depth go to Numbers 13: 27-30. Our homie Jesus reminded us of how much our relationship with God requires faith. Faith is what we need in order to continue on our walk with Christ. Jesus said, “You can’t do it on your own, you aren’t strong enough.” In reality, we can try many times but we will never get the victory with our own strength. Jesus (Lopez) reminds us that we’re not good enough and it’s something hard to hear but it’s true. Without God, we are nothing. With God, we are unstoppable.

Forgiveness
Forgiveness is necessary to live peacefully. If there’s no forgiveness there’s no knowledge. When we don’t forgive we haven’t understood the meaning of the cross. We are naturally sinners from Adam and Eve we became enemies of God.
But in Romans 5 it starts by saying we have been made right in God’s sight because of our lord Jesus. Jesus forgave us and paid the highest price for us, in effect made us friends of God. We are nothing without Jesus there’s no way we can be “right” with anyone or anything if there’s no forgiveness.
But it starts with you! Jesus forgave you why haven’t you forgave yourself? Don’t you believe what the cross did for all humanity? We are not victims - we are friends of God. God is with us, who can be against us!

Sheep follow their shepherd, and no one else - this has been proven time and time again. False shepherds have tried to lead another’s flock - but will flee when things go awry. But sheep always recognize their master’s voice. The thief's purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus’s purpose is to give us a rich and satisfying life - but some people still refuse to listen to His voice. And the reason is simple - NOT EVERYONE IS JESUS’ SHEEP, not everyone is a child of God. Whether we are in a season of drought and scarcity, or prosperity and abundance - we as His sheep will ALWAYS listen and obey. BUT, Jesus also has other sheep that He wants to bring to a satisfying life - His lost sheep. Not lost in sin and vices, but lost because they’re not home! We need to bring them home, it is time.

When we live outside of reality, we make emotional decisions. You see, if we are not walking with God, our reach is limited. We are limited in reaching the goals we have for the new year or living peacefully if we don’t understand reality. Emotions are incongruent to reality, because they fluctuate constantly. So, this means that if our life is being lead by “what we feel” then our life will be chaotic. But, when we build a relationship with God, He will guide us in the path He wants us in and we will be able to understand Him. While the Word of God seems confusing to those without a relationship with God, you will understand it because of your relationship with Him. He reveals His Word to His children through the Spirit and this brings peace. And, in the process of building this relationship our ego dies - when our ego dies, we learn to have self-control - self-control allows us to not skip reality. If we skip reality we are constantly victimizing ourselves, and victims only see the fault in others rather than in ourselves. Let’s accept reality as it is, and instead of being the person that says “God walks me, I’m good.” let’s be the person who WALKS WITH God, holding His hand through any circumstance! I’m glad you made it today, I know God brought you here for a reason! God bless you ❤️

James 4:13-15 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” All of us have been tempted to make some type of New Year’s resolution, or New Me Promises. I myself have been trying to think of new ways I can better my daily struggles by organizing or managing my time better. But what I failed to realize is Today’s outcome doesn’t change because the year changed. Whether or not I start today or tomorrow will change the outcome on how more organized I am. The same goes for all of our Resolutions or New Me challenges. If we aren’t starting now, or yesterday, your today stays yesterday’s struggle. Goals are great, but if it’s constantly outmanned by the use of do it later, none of your shiny new changes will ever take off. This week I challenge you, to start yesterday with your new self. But whilst changing you, remember God is waiting in the same place you left him. He doesn’t change, but is rooting for you to become yesterday’s resolution.

We disqualify ourselves. Much like the story of the servants who were sent to multiply the talents. There was one servant who buried the talent simply because he was afraid. Like the servant we are afraid to take risks because we don’t believe God. Believing in God is one thing but BELIEVING God is another. Have faith in what He’s doing in your life. God is sculpting us into the person He needs us to become, so that we can have confidence as we enter a new year. Place your strength in God’s hand and don’t be afraid to grow forward. Take risks this year! Try new things, take advantage of opportunities, and take risks. God needs you to help his people.

We might even say why would God want me? Well allow me to say, God didn’t come for the perfect and successful. He came for the weak, the ones nobody wants. When we are in Christ our weak selfs fade. God loves to show off through the ones everyone doubts so when Christ is your identity all your insecurities, false identities, and shamefulness fades. Our behavior is always in our hands, so It’s our decision how we act. We will always harvest what we plant. If we are sowing problems we will reap problems. If we sow heavenly food then guess what? We will receive blessings. So bless others! Don’t give up. Growing up our parents sowed seeds into us and as we have grown into adults we now sow those same exact seeds into the people who surround us. Unfortunately, a seed that’s frequently planted is bitterness. Bitter people think everyone’s talking about them, constantly complain, are negative, envious towards others success, victimize, and can either seclude themselves or be an attention seeker. Bitterness is contagious and can be placed in our hearts by people. When we meet someone who feels bitterness or maybe it’s us who feels bitterness, we need to impact those who have been contaminated. It takes an example in Christ to relieve us from this plant we’ve harvested. Take it upon yourself to forgive and to move forward, but in the process also forget. Focus on the big picture, the word of God that way we are able to lead peaceful lives, bitter free.

Gifts and Sand
"It's the thought that counts" is a saying that over the years has faded away. Covered up by expensive impulse buys and Good intentions, we just aren't giving our thoughts enough time to make it count. Rushing around all month for the best deals, and best gifts force us to count the days till the holiday season is over. And once it's over, it's got us planning for next season's Holidays. Time flies during our busiest moments. Mainly because we aren't looking around anymore. Our sights are focused on where to start, and finish. We lose sight on our journeys, and forget the whole experience and joy that came along with the planning.Sadly our best gifts are only as good as the time spent finding them.
So in all the hustle and Hallmark decorations remember this. Your best intentions are the ones given with the most expensive gifts. (Time). It slips through our hands, like the finest of sands. Once it’s given or taken, we can’t get it back, nor buy it back. Like detailed paintings, our lives in the busiest moments have the best memories. Take your time seriously. Share it, give it, and embrace it with loved ones. You never know how much more you may or may not have then someone else.
This Hallmark infused season, I challenge you, to step back out of the chaos and stock up on the finer details of your life. Hold on a little tighter to your time, and gift your best thoughts sealed in the finest of Sands.

Though Condemnation isn’t of God it is still a tactic used in churches today. Since this motive is used so often, a Generic relationship with god is birthed amongst many people. This is exactly what happened in churches in Galatia during Jesus’ time. There are four types of beliefs that are taught in churches that are thought needed to be done to be good with god, but the only one that matters is faith alone. We show we love God by trying to live a life like Christ, not by doing works. When we act out of works we work with our own strength. Faith overall is what wins the victory over the world. Read 1 John 5.

But because we get caught up in our emotions, we let go of common sense and start thinking foolishly. Let us not walk into ignorance. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. OLIVE CHURCH Pastor JC Medina Sundays @ 10am // Domingos @ 1pm ___________________________________________ Many times we have felt that God isn’t speaking to us, that we can’t hear His voice. We have high expectations for God demanding an immediate answer, response or problem solved, but God doesn’t work like that, we have a responsibility to build a relationship with God through reading the word and by having faith, so that we can bear this fruit. Our sinful nature and spiritual being are in constant battle with one another, by welcoming the Holy Spirit into our lives and allowing Him to guide us, fruit is born. We need to be constant with what God wants from us, put both feet in and commit to God - where there is a lack of consistency there is disorder. God wants to extend His wisdom to us, because it builds a healthy community. Strength doesn’t come from who says what first, it comes from having gentleness and self control like Christ; a gift that is infinite. Read 2 Samuel 26 & 2 Timothy 1: 6-7, Romans 5: 5. God will take you from a life of mediocrity and transform you!

Patience is a virtue but sometimes it’s hard to be patient. Sometimes you feel like you deserve what you’ve been praying for that same day, and if it’s been a year, you’ve waited too long. Sometimes you ask if He even heard your prayer. For example, at your job, when you haven’t had that raise that you’ve been patiently waiting for. Or when they do give a raise but it wasn’t for you and it was for your coworker. Even when you know you’ve been working harder, you’ve been the nicest, the most obedient, and the most respectful. Well guess what, God’s faithfulness is ETERNAL! You cannot get tired or exhausted from doing good. Your blessing is a promise from God and He never promises something He won’t deliver. Continue to be righteous, continue to follow His word, because in HIS time, not yours, you will reap a harvest. DON’T GIVE UP!

The intercession of prayer or prayer for someone else is so important because you never know what that other person is going through. We live in the spirit, and all we have to do is just listen to HIM. When we pray, fast and read the word, we can be guided to pray for this person. Let’s pray for our people church, even when you think they don’t need it the most, Jesus died on that cross for our sins. Who are we to not be Christlike - more like HIM.

It’s the season for gratitude. We’ve all just had beautiful dinners with friends and family and expressed our thanks to one another. But the word doesn’t say “Be grateful only during the “season” of gratitude”, on the contrary, the script reads “continue to live in him”. The word “continue” is defined as “never ending”, “putting NO stop to it”. So as we are coming into the season and back out again, we need to STAY in gratitude, at all times. There is a moment to be grateful at any time of every day. Did you wake up today? Are your children ok? Is there food in your fridge? Is there a roof above your head? Clothes on your back? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you have something to be thankful for. Our God is pleased when we express gratitude just the same as when we have abundance in our lives and when we are in a phase of scarcity, It lets him know that no matter what, we are sufficient because HE fills us. Remember, the season of gratitude, is an ALL YEAR ROUND lifestyle.

A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”” Luke 18:1-8 NLT If we look back to our past failures in life we will find the same pattern in each of them. That pattern is all funneled to impatience and giving up. How many times have we given up in life and asked God why it didn’t work out? We’ve been learning about the fruits of the spirit. They all require a process to acquire Will we give up on Love? Have we given up on joy? Courage doesn’t always roar! Let us remember it is a process and the principle here is to pray to God and ask Him faithfully to give us what we need and He will answer. Failures are due to the lack of the Fruits of the spirit which God can only give to us if we learn to depend on Him and only Him. Pray and have Faith.

As the holiday season creeps up, our to-do lists start to grow and risk the tipping of the cup of our souls on its side. To keep our souls from draining, we have to pray regularly. In the midst of all the hustle and bustle it can be difficult to find these soul stops along the way, so let me share three things that can help keep your soul steady. Look for brief stops. One way to keep your focus on God and His plans even on the busiest days is to set aside 3-5 minutes throughout the day to just drop to your knees and talk to God. This will redirect your worries and keep your thoughts on Him. Pay attention. As you work on trying to keep your soul filled up and staying filled, ask God to get your attention. Look for Him at work throughout your day in the little things- the right song on the radio, a text at the right time, or a little laugh with your kids. Set Limits. Pick a time when your distractions begin, and tell them when to end. During that time, make your phone calls, do what you need to on the computer and any other things that you pour your soul into, but when that time is over, shut it down. Save time at the beginning of your day and/or the end of your day for nothing other than soul-filling time with God. Your soul relies on fellowship with God through His Son, Jesus. Doing anything else than relying on Him may work in the moment but it won’t last and it could even cause damage.

This doesn’t take a good heart, this takes an obedient heart. God wants us to treat our neighbors as we treat ourselves. Forgive the person that hurt you, it’s the antidote to bitterness. All we have to do is fight our own logic and reasoning and let God take control of the situation, just be obedient to what HE wants so that we may live peacefully. Salvation, something everyone wonders if they have. Salvation isn’t something you earn, it is something freely given to you by grace. It is a gift given to us by God simply by having faith in Jesus believing that he died for us, was risen, and is Lord. Good deeds could never earn you salvation, the Bible says good deeds are equivalent to a dirty rag. It is only by God’s grace that we are saved.

We all have faults, we all have habits and unnecessary baggage that we believe we need to carry and solve on our own. We forget the very purpose of that cross, and the man who died on there for that one sin, that one bad habit that is so hard to let go. Even though our sin is justified, becoming comfortable with your habit is easy if we live by “I’m only human”, as our motto. Our hearts will never be wise if Jesus isn’t in the picture. Anything is possible through His name. He has promised it, the reason why it’s hard for some of us is because of a circumstance in our past that makes trusting anyone difficult. God works for our own good, He’s not out to punish you for every mistake. Whenever we sin, the consequences are going to naturally be there, we reap what we sow. Peace comes from obedience. God has never taught condemnation, but forgiveness. Know that no height, no depth, nor Heaven or earth, no angel or principality, will ever keep you from His Presence.

The best medicine to cure stress, anxiety, and depression is gratitude and praise towards our heavenly Father. As soon as you feel a wave of negativity, emotional distress, anxiety, depression STOP and BOW! Follow these next steps and learn how to B.O.W. Bow down before Him. Humble yourself before our mighty God. Surrender and give him everything! Bring Him your heartache, your sickness, your finances, your children, your spouse, your day, your future, your past! Bow down before Him and give Him your all! Offload whatever is weighing you down at His feet. Let Him handle your battles, confess your sins to Him, offload your secrets to Him, your bad habits, allow Him to rescue you from it because He is The all powerful and can move mountains for you and me. Worship God! Take your eyes off yourself and your circumstances. Fix your focus and attention to your glorious Lord. Raise your hands, sing to Him, talk to Him, yell out loud THANK YOU GOD!

In life we all make mistakes. Some in finance others in relationships or perhaps in life decisions for example the work or career we have. For others it is even deeper than that. But the truth is that we all have made or make mistakes. What surprises me is that many times I find it easier to forgive someone for what they did to me than to forgive myself for my mistakes or what I did to someone else. Do you think the same? When someone comes and asks for forgiveness I feel great compassion for that person, in fact since I think about it, it makes me uncomfortable when they ask me for forgiveness (obviously there are sometimes that it’s a little harder to forgive depending on the circumstance). But what is the reason? Well, we all know the order we have learned here in Olive. God has taught us how to live a life with peace and joy through this order. For those who do not know the order it is like this: God, You, Spouse, Children, House, Family Church, Family, Friends. The reason why we find it easy to forgive someone else before we forgive ourselves is found in the first part of the order. We know that we have to love God with all our soul, mind and heart and then love our neighbor as ourselves. When we don't feel worthy of someone else's forgiveness, it's because we don't really understand that we need to love ourselves. Yes, perhaps the mistake you made was something that is not so easy to forgive. But you and I are already justified. That’s right! Jesus already paid the price for our sin. Now I understand why we love God first, because He always takes initiative to forgive us. Something that even we can’t do. And he does it with love. Now is the time to recognize that if God has already forgiven me, I can also forgive myself. We all know that a hurt person will always hurt other people. When we feel guilt, it is because we are hurt ourselves. Therefore, we can hurt others. That is why it is so important to forgive ourselves as well. Forgiving someone carries the same concept of loving your neighbor as yourself. If we want to forgive people we have to forgive ourselves too. If we cannot forgive ourselves, how are we forgiving someone else? If we don't love ourselves, how are we loving others? Remember, Jesus died on the cross carrying all our guilt and all sin. Jesus has already forgiven us for the mistakes we have made. We must always ask forgiveness of those we hurt, it only takes one time to say sorry, because forgiveness is not only requested but done. We must forgive those who hurt us and move on with peace. It doesn't matter if the person you hurt didn’t forgive you, Jesus has already forgiven you and resurrected to give you life. It doesn't matter if you think that the person does not deserve your forgiveness, Jesus has already forgiven them and resurrected for us to live with peace not with resentment.

James 1:12 - “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.”
There are many purposes for tests. They show us what we have learned, what we need to work on, what we are good at, what our skills are and they can reveal who we are. There are worldly tests and then there are spiritual tests. Spiritual tests often try our commitment to God and our faith. More than anything God wants our committed and whole hearts. Even though some tests are painful, God is using them to grow us into all He has designed us to be. When things aren’t clear remember God’s promises. He promised to set limits on our trials, to walk with us as we go through them and to allow good to come from them. My question for you today is this, when God doesn’t do what we think He should or when it seems like He has turned His back on you, will you still love and trust Him?

When we have Christ in the center of our lives, when He is the foundation on which everything is built, we find this peace that only Jesus can give us. It is a peace that surpasses beyond all human understanding. You can be going through tons and tons of hardship, but you will remain with a smile on your face. Walking with Christ doesn’t make life easier, in fact it makes it harder. However, because of this peace we become stronger for God’s glory. Anxiety, stress, and depression all bow to Jesus - the keeper of peace. When your heart is overwhelmed and you don’t know what to do - when there is nothing you can do, turn to Jesus the Prince of peace for the peace He gives us is the key to our mental health.

This is the second death.” Coward; one who lacks in dangerous or unpleasant things. Raise your hands if you enjoy being in unpleasant situations? ....(crickets chirping) Exactly, nobody wakes up and says, "Man I can't wait to be late to church this morning & have all eyes on me as I walk through the door whilst spilling my coffee on my shirt." Minus the clumsy coffee fiasco, we still do it. Failure to set your alarms, or getting a good nights rest result in a voluntary unpleasant morning we are all guilty of. The example might change from church to work, a family get together, even a ministry event. Although the examples vary, the results are ALWAYS the same but just like the results, so are the EXCUSES.
Our God exemplifies the true meaning of order. Also, is true when he calls us out and places us in certain categories. Though some of us embrace this life of unpleasantness, how many of us embrace the life of order and peace? How many times must we come up with excuses until WE finally change? Church, life happens. It's meant to be chaotic without Christ. With Christ, however, its biblically proven to be Peaceful and Joyful. So if you're overpowered by unpleasantness or excuses, maybe it's time to put action behind what we KNOW we are supposed to do. This week, I challenge you to wake up early, spend time thanking our Lord and reading his word, planning out your days and executing your plans with faith knowing your order overpowered your excuses. Remember, you may not categorize yourself as cowardly, but definitions weren't created by men. Without God, words and definitions mean nothing. And your only competition are those who refuse to accept the unpleasant life.

When I was little I used to defend my little brother from my middle brother, but then my dad would defend my middle brother from me. It was a chain reaction of defending and justifying punishment. We tend to think we have the power to justify certain situations, for example, oppressing the oppressor, or gossiping about the gossiper, etc. basically taking justification in our own hands. The Lord says that he shows favor to the humble and oppressed. Which is why I have such a high level of respect for those that go to the armed forces and complete their terms honorably. I have respect for them because at one point they were the oppressed but they knew that the quickest way out of the oppression was to be quiet and do as they’re told. It’s hard to do this sometimes because we want to be the justifier but it doesn’t work that way. God places certain situations and even people to test you and help you grow in wisdom. We tend to want God’s favor without doing what God is telling us to do. You can’t pick and choose the truth, it’s all written. Here’s some advice, stay humble and let God do his will.
