As we move into spring term colleges all over the nation are having to take extreme measures to keep student safe. Some of these impact unique learners, extoverted learners and everyone who is connected with the school at all. I want to reach out and see what is on everyone mind and help you connect with the college and with our LBCC community.
When it comes to researching potential schools, there is nothing better than the college visit. If possible, visit every college that you are strongly considering. No website, guidebook or testimonial will give you a better feel for a school than you'll get by showing up. Many students change their minds after a college visit. This is obviously preferable to changing it after you enroll!
You wouldn't buy a car without test driving it so, you shouldn't choose a college or university without spending time on the campus.
Take the time to take a guided tour and see what the school feels is important to see. Also spend some time viewing the campus form a students point of view whether it is but sitting in on a class or eating lunch in the cafeteria or observing students in the student union.
You can read all the viewbooks and watch all the marketing videos produced by your candidates. Nothing, though, can match walking down a shady, tree-lined walkway on a fresh, sunny morning on a college campus that could become your temporary home.
I want to get a little philosophical with you. I am going to ask the question "Why do you want to go to college?" No, really why? What is the core reason for coming to college. Not because your parents are making you or all your friends are doing it, but the real reason. What do you hope to get out of it?
NOW- Commit to that reason. The answer to "why?" is the thing you can tap into when college gets tough and at some point it will.

Steps to Register to Attend LBCC [A new college student completes these steps to begin an LBCC degree program.] A first-time LBCC student begins registration at www.linnbenton.edu/future-students All new college students will . . . Submit Application for Admissions http://sis.linnbenton.edu/admit_home.htm Online applications are preferred; may use paper form. Pay $30 application fee Make an appointment to take college placement tests/CPTs http://www.timecenter.com/lbcc-test/ [Albany only] or call for appointment at any center Take college placement tests (CPTs) Begin to check your LBCC email weekly (You will receive a letter assigning you an email address/account.) www.linnbenton.edu/roadrunner-mail Go to www.roadrunnerentry.com to complete orientation videos oComplete roadrunnerentry QUIZ oAt end of roadrunnerentry, click FINISH to sign up for a scheduling/registration session Attend your scheduling/registration session or Register for classes, including a Destination Graduation course, unless you have DG waived.
