Unfortunately these huge doses wind up as residues on and in the food, and Dr. Nagy will discuss what happens to your body when you ingest glyphosate. Since the Bacillus thuringiensis bacteria has been engineered to be part of the Bt crop DNA, like Bt corn, Dr. Nagy will discuss what happens to your body when you ingest this bacteria. This week's episode will focus on the topic of Genetically Modified Organisms, or GMO's. Even though state-level ballot initiatives to label GMO's are sprouting up, many people still don't understand what they are, and are frightened by television commercials paid for by those who have a vested interest in keeping GMO's unlabeled. I will start the show by explaining how patent law works and how Monsanto is using it to intimidate, sue, and bankrupt farmers who they claim are infringing on their GMO patents. I'll discuss whether, or not, food prices will increase if GMO's are labeled, and also describe the different types of GMO crops and the health risks associated with them. I'll close with ways to eat better and avoid GMO's (labeled or not) until long-term testing is done and we can be assured that they are safe. Until then, I urge caution, because we owe the legacy of a safe food supply to all children, everywhere.

What is a hypothe-myth? Good question as I made it up! A hypothesis is a scientific term, and is a theory that is not yet proven but leads to further investigation, typically using the scientific method to prove or disprove it. A myth is an idea or story that is believed by many but is not true. A hypothe-myth starts out as a hypothesis, gets tested by the scientific community using dubious methods, gains support amongst the establishment, impacts government policy, leads to widespread adoption of profitable pharmaceuticals, and turns out to be a myth. Unfortunately, there are several examples of Nutrition Hypothe-myths that have taken hold of our psyches and need to be banished forever. This episode will focus on 2 popular ones, involving dietary cholesterol and saturated fat. Our distrust of these can be traced back to shoddy science, personal ambition, and misguided government policy. We will delve into all of the above, and provide insights into a healthier way of eating.
