The red guards go crazy. They accuse everyone in attack everyone of being anti-communist. Mao tells them to disband. Make sure you keep up with your notes as you read and listen.
In the image for this episode we see Mao as the center of the shining sun with an angry member of the red guard with the classic red arm band. Red was the adopted color of communism both in Russia and then China. Make sure to use your notes as you read.

When Japan invaded China the Nationalists and Communists came together to repel the Japanese invasion. After Japan left China at the end of World War II the Nationalists and Communists resumed their war with one another.
The Boxer Rebellion was a battle between Japan, Britain, and others against the Boxers. The Boxers wanted these countries out of China.
We care about this event because it exposed the failure and weakness of the Qing Dynasty.
