This episode is to break down each point from the "Why I'm Pro-Life" elevator pitch. 1. Pro-science - overwhelming science consensus that a distinct human organism begins at conception. Alive, growing, human, you and I matter. 2. Social justice begins in the womb - every living human being is entitled to fundamental rights, and the most fundamental right is life itself. Being a burden on someone, whether a true burden or a perceived burden, is never justification for killing them. This turns into strong against the weak, and it kills the victim rather than addressing the social issue. 3. Against violence - act of extreme violence against the most vulnerable (dismembered, burned, induced heart attack, and discarded). 4. Against racism - abortion is the fruit of what began in the 1930's by Margaret Sanger the founder of Planned Parenthood that taught sterilization of minorities and disabled people because they were the "weeds of the earth." 5. Pro-woman - abortion degrades women, treats their fertility as a defect, and enables men to abuse and abandon them at their most vulnerable (One of the main issues for repeated abuse, rape, human trafficking). Abortion never empowers women, it only empowers the men who wish to exploit them. 6. Pro-family and motherhood – makes a mother and child enemies instead of the natural bond of love. 7. It's objectively wrong and it's cowardly and immoral for me to remain silent. Why aren’t you pro-life? Extra points: 1. Pro-health care - All doctors sign the Hippocratic oath to do no intentional harm, and healthcare is to improve or sustain life. In abortion, they endanger the health and traumatize the life of mother and deliberately kill a child. 2. Pro-justice and just laws - all laws are to protect and enhance lives. 3. The ballot for the 2022 General Election in Michigan includes one of the most radical and extreme bills ever proposed in the United States and even in the world! Under Proposal 3, it will propose passing a State Constitutional Amendment known deceptively as the Reproductive Rights for All amendment. This proposal will: 1. remove parental consent and notification to parents for minors (for abortion as well as creates provisions to get sterilization and hormone therapy); 2. remove informed medical consent laws; 3. remove laws that require abortion facilities to be licensed and inspected by the State of Michigan; 4. removes laws that prosecute anyone who injures or kills a woman during an abortion; 5. revoke conscience rights of medical professionals who choose not to participate in abortions; 6. allow abortion up to the day of birth, including partial birth abortions; 7. remove 24-hour waiting period (period of counseling before abortion); 8. allow taxpayer funded abortion; 9. premature babies, babies with health problem, or babies born alive can legally be denied extraordinary health care; 10. Murdering the most vulnerable is everywhere and always wrong, and this amendment is to expand and increase that reality in Michigan.

In this episode we talk about the dogma that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church and how the Church Herself understands that. We cover why there is no salvation outside the Church - because there's no salvation outside of Jesus and the Church is His Body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. We discuss how God has bound Himself to the sacraments, but is not bound by the sacraments. We discuss how those outside the membership of the Church may be saved, in imperfect union with Jesus and the Church, the anointing we see in non-Catholic circles. We also talk about being a formal member does not mean you are saved - you can be sacramentalized and go to hell. Jesus founded one Church, and it's there that we are united, and united in the truth. He never will put us in a place where we have to forsake one to obtain the other between truth and unity. God objectively wants every single person to be Catholic.

As we continue our topic of salvation, today we talk about the range of beliefs about the number of people that will be saved. These views include universalism (virtually everybody will be saved), predestination (fixed number of those who go to heaven vs. hell), 144,000 will be saved, Jesus only came to save a certain ethnicity. The clear teaching of Jesus and scripture is that Jesus died for every single person, in fact to save the entire world, and desires that each person would live in communion in Love but we need to freely choose to respond to this invitation from the Bridegroom.

After our last episode on God's work is entirely for us setting the tone, we jump into this episode talking about the beliefs of penal substitution that typically come in the forms of either "The Father abandoned Jesus" or "The Father poured out His wrath on Jesus." This is a very sad heresy that have radical negative consequences on our view of the Trinity, the Father, humanity, sin (and the penalty for it), justice, Jesus's incarnation and redemption and God's plan for us. In this episode, we talk about the issues and effects of this belief, the Catholic view, and then go through the arguments for the Father abandoning Jesus or pouring out His wrath on Jesus, then look at the very clear teaching of Jesus and scripture about suffering, the Father always being with Jesus, and the Father always being with us because WE ARE IN JESUS and HE IN US.

As we continue our topic of salvation, I was going to have an episode regarding how charisms do not prove or show our salvation. In particular, there are Christian sects that believe the gift of tongues proves we have the Holy Spirit and therefore salvation... but St. Paul and Jesus are clear - this is not so... As I was preparing/thinking/praying about this episode however, it became an episode dedicated fully to the Holy Spirit. So, we go through who the Holy Spirit is (God!), where He was/is in salvation history, how He makes us children of God, gives us Freedom, reveals and bears witness to Jesus, glorifies Jesus, and reveals truth, teaches us how to pray, convicts, unites, and purifies. We also talk about the virtues, fruits, gifts, and charisms of the Holy Spirit.... and then finally talk about what the initial topic was - do charisms show/prove we are saved? NO!

AMW: Always More Wednesday. In this episode, we talk about how we as Christians can call ourselves "sinners" and yet we need to check ourselves because sin is not a normal part of the Christian life. We are called to be dead to sin sinners. We rightly call ourselves sinners, but let's not make excuses for ourselves in that statement. In this episode, we also talk about the power and invasion of sin and death - the wages of sin is death that reigns in humanity; and yet, this power has been overcome by Jesus and He calls us to participate in His holiness to have His power to defeat and overcome sin and death that has defeated and overcome the human race.

Why is there suffering, Gods permissive will, suffering proves God's existence, satan's role in suffering, not because of personal sin, the prosperity gospel, and the power of suffering in Christ that is expected and normal part of the Christian life, for union with Christ and for the sake of others, purifies our hearts, and we can REJOICE in our sufferings!

2,000 years ago people, including His own disciples, left Jesus for His teachings on suffering, the Eucharist, and marriage. Today, people leave Jesus's body, the Church, for the teachings on suffering, the Eucharist, and marriage. To embrace these beautiful gifts that Christ gave to His disciples to be united with Him in a radical way we need the Holy Spirit and we need Peter. Don't walk away from Jesus, don't forfeit incredible graces that Jesus wants to give you to transform you, and don't follow God according to your own perceived ways because you will find yourself no longer following Christ but yourself.

Today we talk about penance & mortification (prayer, fasting, almsgiving) in the life of the Christian. Jesus and the New Testament teaches and expects all Christians to perform penance/mortification (prayer, fasting give alms); to fast from sin, fast from the temptations to sin, and fast to discipline and practice martyrdom for sanctification in union and intimacy with Christ and for the salvation of others. "Do not gratify the desires of the flesh" (Gal 5:16), but "by the Holy Spirit, put to death (mortify) the deeds of the flesh" (Rm 8:13). We talk about: we do not do it out of hatred for the body, everybody fasts, it's part of the normal Christian life and is expected, it's not to burden others, it's only by the Holy Spirit, and the effects of it (deals with temporal consequences of sin, for our sanctification, for our intentions to be purified, and for salvation of others).

Today, as we remember and mourn the 20th anniversary of 9/11, we reflect and pray for all involved on that horrible day. Many people compare tragedies to other tragedies to help illuminate the scale or amount of devastation... and today we pick up this practice to compare 9/11 and many other world events (wars, sickness, genocides) and compare it to amount and nature of abortion that happens in the U.S. and in the world. What we find is that nothing even comes close to the hidden genocide of abortion that happens every single day throughout the world and in our local communities destroying mothers, fathers, children, families.

Today, as we continue our topic of salvation, we talk about the great gift of our free will, predestination, and the sovereignty of God. We get into God's nature and His direct/positive vs. permissive will. God desires, directly wills, that all of us would freely choose to love and follow Jesus, His predestined plan in Christ for the salvation, redemption, justification, and healing of humanity that is offered to every single person. God is so sovereign that even choices made outside of God's direct will that He allows it to happen within His story/plan to bring a greater good into the drama of human and salvation history. Lastly, a little challenge for all of us to go and proclaim the mercy and love of God to every single person and offer them a choice to freely choose to be transformed by Jesus.

Today we talk about the absolutely incredible gift and good news of Purgatory - the encounter of the purifying love of God, the work of Jesus Christ perfecting us to live fully alive in God's love. We talk about what purgatory is NOT, the New Testament Principles / Implicit teaching for purgatory, the explicit teaching of Purgatory in the New Testament, the state of the soul encountering Jesus' purifying love won for us on the cross. Hell is suffering with no love or hope; heaven is love with no suffering; and purgatory is suffering with love and hope. God is a consuming fire, alleluia!

Happy (Belated) Father's Day! In this episode I share a few things of what God has taught me through mine and Napoli's daughter, Zelie, in the first 11 weeks. God has taught me more about the Father's Heart and most profoundly what it means to be a child of God. This is a talk that I gave to a young adult retreat on March 20, 2021 at the Eastern Catholic Re-Evangelization Center. Using the Garden of Eden as our reference point, we go through how in the fullness of revelation in Jesus, God has been restoring the Garden that has been broken. To go back to Communion with God, each other, and creation. In the Garden we were children to a Father, a Bride to a Bridegroom, given divine food and drink, clothed with purity and truth in communion. In the New Covenant, we live in Communion with God through the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit - "This is My Body" words of a Bridegroom; "This is My Blood" words of a covenant; "Clothed with power from on High" words of a Father. The Eucharist, the fruit of the Tree of Life (the Cross), "opens our eyes" reversing the effects of the fruit of the bad tree that opened our eyes. The Holy Spirit clothes us with power, reversing the effects of being naked and ashamed. This is the New Restored Garden... but even this is incomplete. We see that the Garden is incomplete without Communion with each other. The heart of the Eucharist and the heart of the Spirit, which is Communion with God, reveals God's Heart for communion with each other - one bread, one body, one Spirit to drink from. Fight, be a fool, for love of one another. Your children, your parents, your friends, your relationships, your marriages... they're worth it, fight for it. Live in the Garden even in the Midst of the Desert by participating in God's Crucified Love.

As a follow-up to the last episode on Heaven, perfect union with God, we briefly talk about how those in Heaven are more alive and active than we are. Then at the 12:30ish mark, we talk about the different levels of glory in heaven that each will receive in proportion to what they have done. 1 Cor 15:40-42: "There are celestial bodies and there are terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory. So it is with the resurrection of the dead."

After talking about how we are judged based on love, today we talk about that judgment doesn't fit into a perfect box and is different for each person based on what we have been given, what's been reveled to us, based on our conscience. We discuss scripture on judgment and conscience, invincible ignorance, not judging others, particular and final judgment, no sin is accidental, etc. "When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their consciences also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them on that day when according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus" Rom 2:14-16.

We talk about the heroic virtues of laying down one's life for one's friends... the participation in the love of Christ that redeemed the world. "No greater love than this, that a man lay down in his life for his friends." The life of a Christian is a life transformed by God's love that's infused with His grace, not imputed grace; God actually makes us righteous. We continue in our salvation series today by asking the question why is God on a cross or what is He doing there? He came to fight, to free, liberate, save, redeem, purchase, restore, atone. To bind the devil and destroy his works, to undo the shackles of slavery to sin that leads to death. "No one can take my life from me, I lay it down on my accord to take it up again" John 10:18. St. Catherine of Siena: "'All the nails in the world could not have held Christ to the cross had love not held him there."

On this first episode on our Salvation series, we talk about the Gospel, the Good News - Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. You are loved, you are cherished, God created you; brokenness separated and separates us from God and each other; Jesus, God, became man and died to save, purchase, and redeem you; He calls us to repent and believe in the Gospel; be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit to live a transformed life in Christ, to truly become Christians; we live in His Body, the Church; and He sends us out on His same mission to proclaim liberty to captive, to set them free and to proclaim the Good News. We find in Jesus, the reality of our sin and the greatness of God's love for you. The Gospel is a royal decree of the true King, that our God reigns. Jesus is King, Head, and Bridegroom, and we cannot separate the King from His Kingdom, the Head from His Body, or the Bridegroom from His Bride, which is the Church. "Jesus, King of the Jews" - remember God's love story that is fulfilled in Jesus and His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. God is faithful. He is with you. He is for you. You are worth fighting for. You are worth dying for. You are eternally loved.

A.M.W. - Always More Wednesday. This was recorded for Ash Wednesday, but though it would be helpful before Lent begins! On Ash Wednesday, we enter into a time of penance. It's really more of an opportunity to unite even closer to our Lord who told us to pray, fast, and give alms. Why does He tell us to do that? It's precisely what He did in His temptations in the desert, and with Him we renounce the 3 temptations of the first fall - lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride. Let's grow in pure love, become only attached to God, and become humble as Jesus did.

In today's episode we discuss sexual morality in light of the fundamental principal of true love, both revealed through nature and divine revelation of Jesus. We talk briefly about various sexual moral issues, but with a focus on contraception because contraception illuminates the heart of the issue of all sexual moral issues - the rejection of self-gift to and from another. This is a recording of an introduction speech to a healing service at Our Lady of Hope, and we talk about what healings and miracles point to. Throughout all salvation history, there's two fundamental realities that God wants for His people: 1. to know how much we are loved and to respond to it, and 2. restore our identity that gives us transformative power. Jesus, as the New Moses, inaugurates the New Exodus. We are freed from our enemies in baptism (fulfilled crossing of Red Sea), we are fed with heavenly bread of Christ Himself (fulfilled manna). After Jesus conquered death, He gave His apostles the mission of the sacraments: to baptize (Mt 28), to go give His people the Eucharist (Lk 22), and to forgive sins (Jn 20). He also gave all of us power from on high to bring the Gospel to the world with power; those who believe will heal the sick, cast out demons, etc. (Mk 16). We share His power! All of this, the sacraments and healings, bring two realities together: 1. Jesus purchased us all on the cross revealing the depths of God's love, and 2. the kingdom of heaven that can break in here and now. We are loved! The Gospel is power! Let's live like what we are - children of God with power!!

Jesus spoke 7 times from the cross, and in complete poverty he gave away the only thing He had left, His mother. The only direct command from Jesus was to His disciple to take His mother as His own. As the beloved disciple, Jesus tells us to take His mother as our very own.

In this episode, I share a portion of a talk from Dr. Scott Hahn from 1991. He was once an Evangelical Protestant Pastor that was deeply Anti-Catholic. He became Catholic in the 1980's and has been bringing people home ever since. He was a huge part of my conversion. One thing that fueled my anti-Catholicism in college was that it was the one Church I attended that didn't allow me to receive their piece of bread... well, turns out it's not bread, there's very good reasons, it's in the Bible, and it was for my own good...
BTW - Orthodox and Catholics can receive communion at each other's churches (because we believe in the same things and it's valid!).

God is releasing power and anointing in Southeast Michigan to transform our region, country, and the world. This past Friday night at the Transformation Night at Encounter Ministries, God's prophetic word was shared of His power and anointing for Regional Transformation (which includes a meteor!!).
