I hate that I'm not in control of my father in law's care while he's overnight in the hospital for an infection. And how did the infection even happen when no one is sick in the apartment and we take great care of him. There is a DNR but if meds cure the infection we want that to happen and the doctor agreed. My rant featured today is really me tired from the hospital and pissed off at the hospice nurse who immediately thought this is something to do with Alzheimer's and we should do nothing. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's up to us as to what kind we feel like repeating. Getting a new nurse isn't a slam on nurses when you're dealing with home hospice care. My father in law wasn't ready to begin a slide in to not responding to food or people, I know because we just settled him in his hospital bed and then came home. And when he wakes up and has a condom catheter I'm assuming he will be freaked out and confused as to where the hell he is. We're not there to care for his comfort, to settle him. We trust the nurses and doctors and assistants to do that but when you're used to doing it, it's hard to sleep.
