One in a million.
One half of acclaimed duo The Works which he formed with friend and fellow producer Twelve Beats to release the Yokohama EP (Rust Music) in 2009.
Has been involved in the production of several projects including Danish outfits Vincent Van Go Go and Nobody Beats The Beats.
Was commissioned in 2006 by Marc Mac to submit a remix for the Visioneers' Dirty Old Remixes (BBE) appearing alongside heavyweights such as Dj Jazzy Jeff and Capitol A.
In recent years his work has featured on mixtapes and compilations courtesy of Bobby Evans, Earnest Endeavours, Brownswood Recordings and First Word Records.
2012 saw the release of his first ever solo project Horses & Diamonds; an 11-track ep on Danish rapper Per Vers' imprint Mixed Ape Music.
In 2013 his follow up project Short Suite dropped on that same label.
Since 2015 Terry has gravitated towards the world of house music releasing three projects clocking in at around the 120bpm mark; Genealogia (Copenhagen Underground Posse, 2016), Space Million (Creak Inc., 2018) and Breeze Unlimited (Boogie Café Records, 2021).
Terry's latest outings has yielded spins from influential selectors such as Soulection, Carista, Alexander Nut (NTS), Mr. Beatnick (NTS), Marina Trench, EVM 128, James Rudie and Sassy J (Red Light Radio).
Taken from:Time Capsule - Beat Compilation Vol: 01We now officially present the first original score for pasteelo. All artists on the compilation are dedicated beatmakers/producers who have all made their mark on the Copenhagen beat scene - each with their own unique sound and technique, either sample-based beats or beats crafted on live instruments. Common to all of them is the dedication to creating organic soundscapes driven by passion and love for the culture - regardless of whether it's built on the foundation of boom bap or in more self-expressive directions.Several of the beats have been stored on samplers, beat machines and hard drives for years - these machines are in a sense like time capsules, containing data based on creative thoughts and sounds from a certain time in space.. but the fact is that these sounds remain fresh and sparkling new until someone exports them. That's basically what we've done - unlocked the chambers of hidden gems and cut it onto vinyl. Past, present and future - this is the Time Capsule.A testimony to a movement that never goes out of style.. at least in our part of the galaxy! We are honored to collaborate with the cream of the crop of Danish beatmakers:FOU FLOWERS, ADAM KAY, LORD AKTON, FLOPPYKAT, TERRY TESTER, FENGSFIVE, HANSSOLO, PHRESH PHLAVOUR, JABAR LIGLA, OTESLA, IKACO, BOBOTRON, JONAS COOK, SHATTER HANDS, SOFA T, SCRATCHMAGIC, CONTEXT, FEDE POUL & LORD LOOPITAH. Back in 2001, Terry Tester, Buscrates and Ian Wallace sat in a van in Pittsburgh, PA bugging out over Pete Rock instrumentals. Since then, Buscrates (Bastard Jazz / Razor-N-Tape) has made a name for himself as a top shelf boogie craftsman and avid synth head, while Brooklyn’s Ian Wallace boasts a seemingly never-ending run of raw, soulful remixes with partners OP! And Nick Bike. Now, more than two decades later, they reunite on wax with Buscrates and Wallace remixing their favorite jams off Terry’s 2018 four-tracker “Space Million”. Buscrates molds ‘Grace’ into his signature modern funk & boogie sound, while Ian Wallace lifts ‘Space Million’ into peak summertime deep house.Within Terry Tester’s two-decade long career as a turntablist and beatmaker his eminent take on house, hiphop and soul has been commissioned by Gilles Petterson for his ‘Bubblers’ compilation series on Brownswood, Jahi ft. singer Dwele, and Marc Mac on BBE remixing alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff.Terry’s latest efforts has yielded spins from influential selectors such as Carista, Sassy J, Alexander Nut, Mr Beatnick, Soulection and FS Green.Releases October 27, 2023Produced by Terry Tester (Thomas Månsson)Remixes by Buscrates (Orlando Marshall) & Ian WallaceMastered by Marco ZangiloramiOriginals mastered by Joel KrozerArtwork by Tobias HolmbeckDistributed & Manufactured by Mother Tongue RecordsA&R and Label Manager - Daniel Bruhn Jensen aka. So, any producer who’s been making beats for more than 10 years should try this: Search your inbox for “BEATS” and see what pops up. I recently performed such a search and found a batch of my own productions which have long vanished from the sketchy formats they were once stored on. I’m talking floppy disks here. It wouldn’t feel right to just sit on these, so here you go! Peace.
