Dr. Cynthia Stuen, is the Main Representative from The International Federation On Ageing to the United Nations, the Chair of the NGO New York Committee On Ageing, and a leader in advocacy for Human Rights of older adults. Doctor Stuen gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the United Nations Open-Ended Working Group On Ageing as it explores the gaps in human rights for older adults worldwide. In 2024 a core group will report on the need to cover specific rights for older persons, and methods of monitoring how nations enforce those rights. This report may become part of the very first convention, which is a document like a treaty that will have influence in the lives of millions of older people. Doctor Stuen explains how you can impact age and gender equality and lend a voice to the campaign for human rights that includes all of us. Let's make the slogan, Nothing About Us Without Us, a reality.

Jeff Rubin is the author of Wisdom of Age and the seminal video series Senior Moments. I speak with a true visionary and artist on what it means to be older, how we see ourselves and others, and why ageism is so "sticky." Can we ever escape from our age-essential attitudes? How do we transcend our self-age prejudices? Why do some elders continue to contribute to the community, and others as wealthy and healthy withdraw? Which one will you be as you age?

Since the Generation Bold Podcast aired six years ago, partially because of Covid and partially because the baby boomers are aging, we have all taken a fresh look at senior residential communities, from past failures to the new, uplifting way they offer care. Kin Village displays all the attributes of the latest trends in assisted living and continuing care residential communities. The Kinsman, a service club, started the organization about a half-century ago. From humble beginnings, Kin Village now serves hundreds of people every day. The community center's hub offers programs and services around what residents love to do, including jazzercise and ballroom dancing. You will discover: · How to assess a residential community, not only for the activities it provides but for the encouragement and inclusion that engages you or your loved one to participate. · How ageism is still an issue in some residences, and what you can do about it. · How the tide is turning to less ageist views and what it can mean to a vibrant senior residential community. Dan is on the board of the International Federation on Ageing. You will hear the challenges and issues, including older women, technology, environmentalism, and healthcare equity, the IFA is tackling now and at its 16TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE on July 27 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Doctor Erasmus is the author of Fats that Heal Fats that Kill. In my interview with him we cover what fats are, the difference between Omega 6 and Omega 3 and why low fat diets are not the path to weight loss or health. The relationship between low IQ, attention deficit disorder and even depression to low fat diets. We look at how to store oils in the correct way to keep them potent. Low fat diets have been marketed effectively to the public. But perhaps we should instead be thinking of right fat diets rather than low fat.

Liz Parrish is one of the bravest and most controversial figures in the exploding field of Longevity. She is not a scientist but may have more impact on geroscience than those who are. Liz is called ”Patient Zero” because she has used herself as a guinea pig for gene therapy to reverse aging and live better with her Type 1 Diabetes. The unapproved FDA procedure required Parrish to go to Colombia and other countries for treatment. The Result… look at her picture. Her biological age dropped five years every year after her treatments, done in 2015 and in 2020. She is biologically 25, chronologically in her forties, and started with a 66-year-old biomarker profile when suffering from Type I diabetes. She is an innovator, and an investor and promotor of Gene therapy for Longevity. Her company, BioViva, asserts that governments, including the US, must look at gene therapies to have a shot at healthy Longevity. Some say she is a profit of the future, and some that she is exposing people to undo risk. But Liz is now helping those interested in gene therapy by taking them off-shore for medical tourism to get procedures unavailable in many first-world nations, including the US. How do you feel about efforts for extreme Longevity? Get the picture on our Generation Bold Podcast: The Fountain of Truth as I interview Liz, a canny and sophisticated ambassador for transhumanism and radical Longevity.

Esther Dyson is the executive founder of Wellville, a 10-year nonprofit project dedicated to demonstrating the value of long-term investment in health and equity. Wellville works in five small communities (Clatsop County, OR; Lake COunty, CA; Muskegon County, MI; North Hartford, CT; and Spartanburg, SC), advising local leaders on scaling local initiatives in areas such as early childhood development, diabetes/obesity reduction, mental health support/trauma-informed care. In her own words:
Over the decades, I've been an employee and an entrepreneur and can honestly say I gained much from both experiences. Throughout this long span of time, most of my focus was centered in sales and financial services. Now, as a wise and active senior, I've taken the stress level down a few notches as I assist other seniors with important advance planning decisions and financial options gently guiding them to peace of mind.
When I began working with seniors, I discovered how much enjoyment I receive assisting folks from my generation… most of us grew up in the fabulous 50’s and we have so much to share from those great years.
This new chapter started several years ago, when I went to a local funeral home to arrange for my mother who was imminent at the time. The Funeral Director asked me what I did and told him I had recently received my insurance licensing from the state to sell Life and Health insurance and he quickly offered me a job to sell a type of insurance called Pre-plan funeral arrangements to their community of families that use their services. After things settled down and I was over the initial loss of my mother, I decided to accept the funeral home’s offer. Since that time, I have evolved further into assisting seniors to plan ahead with Final Expense insurance with community outreach at senior centers and presentations at over 55 communities.
Then a few years ago, when I heard about the Life Insurance Settlement business, I knew immediately I wanted to offer this to seniors and decided to join an excellent firm that are pioneers in the Life Settlement industry with a successful track record and licensed in all 50 states. This was right before the pandemic landed on our shores like a vicious serial killer looking for seniors to infect. It was hard meeting seniors; everything was shut down. When an opportunity presented itself, I would email a message with the headline, “Don’t be caught unplanned and unprepared for the unexpected.” Now that we are out of the Covid woods, seniors are getting back to normal and starting to enjoy life and I’m busy contacting financial advisors and seniors who own a life insurance policy that they would like to sell for a top dollar cash settlement and never have to pay it back … It’s like Found Money.
That’s it in a nutshell about what I’m currently doing. My professional resume is extensive that goes back 50 years or more, mostly with sales and financial services experience and a few entrepreneurial pursuits. At this time, as previously mentioned, my focus is on the life insurance settlement business offering seniors an opportunity to sell a piece of paper that may be stuck away in a drawer that they forgot about and provide them with an opportunity to receive a cash settlement and more quality of life to enjoy their golden years.

SOMEWHERE IN AMERICA – We’ve all felt it at some point. An overwhelming urge to break free, defy convention, change our lives, alter our surroundings, explore the world and discover our best selves. Not just for a few days but perhaps for a few years or even forever.
Unfortunately, however, the vast majority of us pack such urges away like fine china that’s too delicate and impractical to use except on the rarest of occasions. And so, instead of taking an off-ramp toward a bold and adventurous new life, we stay in our comfortable and predictable lanes knowing two words of regret will inevitably creep into our thoughts time and time again – if only…

On Star Trek when someone is injured, they are taken to sick bay where the doctor uses a laser to heal the patient instantly. We make those (just not quite as instant).
The treatment is called Photobiomodulation (PBM Therapy) previously known as Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and is considered by many scientists to be "a new branch of medicine" (Dr Roberta Chow MD PhD).
Light (within certain parameters) can regenerate tissue, reduce inflammation and reduce pain. It does this by increasing cellular energy and reducing oxidative stress. These effects have been tested in over 700 clinical trials (RCT's) and thousands of laboratory studies and published in many leading journals including The Lancet, BMJ, Nature, PNAS, Spine, Muscle and Nerve, Pain, Stroke etc.
Dedicated private PBM clinics are being born every month to meet public demand for pain relief and the former head of tissue viability for Scotland Lydia Jack demonstrated that the laser paid for itself with the first patient she treated.
Already THOR has over 5,000 customers in pioneering clinics and hospitals in more than 70 countries and is the only company with FDA, CE, TGA and NATO clearance, and we are also listed on GSA, and eCAT in the United States for government purchases.

Born in Canada, Rich Little got his start just like almost every other comic of his time - night clubs. he was a very popular comic in these clubs, but if there was one thing Rich was best known for, it was impersonations. He studied the voices of many stars his whole life, stars like James Stewart, Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Dean Martin, Truman Capoteand George Burns. In the late 1960s, Rich was dubbed "the best impressionist in the world." During the 1970s, however, a rivalry began between him and fellow impressionist Frank Gorshin, who is five years older. Ultimately, Rich overpowered Gorshin and remained the best impressionist in the world. In 1973 Rich became more associated with Dean Martin and made countless appearances on the "Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts," honoring most of the people he impersonated.

Dr. Bohr received his M.D. in 1978, Ph.D. in 1987, and D.Sc. in 1987 from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. After training in neurology and infectious diseases at the University Hospital in Copenhagen, Dr. Bohr did a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Hans Klenow at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He then worked with Dr. Philip Hanawalt at Stanford University as a research scholar from 1982-1986.
In 1986 he was appointed to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as an investigator, becoming a tenured Senior Investigator in 1988. Dr. Bohr developed a research section in DNA repair at the NCI. In 1992 he moved to the NIA to become Chief of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics. His main contributions have been in the area of DNA repair. He has worked on many aspects of DNA damage and its processing in mammalian cells.
He developed a widely used method for the analysis of DNA repair in individual genes and found that active genes are preferentially repaired. This observation was a major advance in the clarification of the tight interaction between DNA repair and transcription, a process termed transcription-coupled repair. In recent years numerous papers from his laboratory have focused on mechanisms of DNA damage processing, particularly on nucleotide excision repair and transcription coupling. A main interest now is to elucidate how these processes change in relation to aging.

His writing provides information and inspiration, challenging readers to honestly encounter their own mortality to both die better and live more fully.

In Dr. Alisa Kauffman Own Words:
In 1988, I had an epiphany. My best friend Beth Wilf’s father had impeccable oral health. He knew the importance of great oral hygiene and was on a regular every-three-month schedule with the hygienist at the office of Dr. Igor Gerzon, a prosthodontist and my husband. However, a stroke left Mr. Moorstein without speech and without the ability to brush and floss his teeth on his own.
When it came time to see the hygienist after his stroke, he had to cancel. That was my moment to step in and help. I absolutely love helping someone to heal. Whether I am extracting a painful tooth or feel the joy of seeing a patient take the first bite of food and chew it with new, well-fitting dentures that I created.
Treating Mr. Moorstein was the first time I attended to a patient in their home, and thus, Geriatric Housecall Dentistry was born. The core services of Geriatric House Call Dentistry include emergency visits, second opinions, exams, cleanings, small fillings, ARREST (Silver Diamine Fluoride) treatment, extractions, partial and denture repair, fabricating complete and partial dentures.
Dr. Alisa Kauffman teaches caregivers how to perform oral care on those who refuse or are unable to care for their own teeth. Alisa always tells her patients, “we only brush the teeth that we want to keep!”

The rising costs of dental care preventing family members from obtaining the treatment they needed inspired Paul McTaggart to establish Dental Departures – an online company that hooks up global dental providers with patients.
Surprised his new wife had not been to a dentist in years because a chef’s salary couldn’t afford it was the motivation for McTaggart to explore inexpensive dental care on the internet. He found a lack of affordable dental care was not just a problem in the US, but in Europe, Australia and New Zealand too.
The results also pointed to savings of around 70% in countries including Mexico, Thailand and Hungary – but with scant authoritative information about the quality. With his wife and young family, McTaggart set about finding out, moving to Mexico and then Thailand. Coupled with his background in technology, Dental Departures was born.

Jane Mathews was born in England, but her career in advertising enabled her to live all over the world (Amsterdam, Chicago, Singapore, London) but now she calls Sydney, Australia home. When she got divorced several years ago, and unexpectedly found herself living alone, she tried to find a book to help navigate its sometimes treacherous shallows, but couldn't. So she wrote one herself. "The Art of Living Alone and Loving It" seems to have really resonated with readers and it has been translated into 8 languages. Her premise is that to enjoy living alone you have to examine each aspect of your life and adapt it to solo living accordingly. You have to course correct and be proactive. People living alone is the fastest growing demographic in the world. We are a mighty army, although it doesn't always feel like it, and there remains a stigma to living alone, not to mention the specter of loneliness sulking in the corner.

Elizabeth Shulman, in her own words:
I've been in ministry for 27 years, first as a pastor then as a healthcare chaplain. My doctoral research was on the experience of marriage for spouses of dementia patients, and out of that research came Sanctuary in the Midst of Alzheimer's. I currently train churches to become a resource in their community for dementia caregivers. My favorite thing is to help dementia caregivers find meaning and a sense of peace in their experience; believe me, it can be found! I am a graduate of United Theological Seminary (D.Min.), The Methodist Theological School in Ohio (M.Div.) and Ohio Northern University (B.A. Education). I have written several devotions for Guideposts Magazine's Strength and Grace, and I am hoping to soon publish an updated version of my book which will be re-titled, Sanctuary in the Midst of Alzheimer's: A Ministry for Families Facing Dementia. This new version includes an additional 4-week section for children caring for a parent.
