On this 66th episode of The CEO Story, I have Harry Dent. Dent is the founder of HS Dent Investment Management, an investment firm based in Tampa Florida that advises, and markets, the Dent Strategic Portfolio Fund mutual fund. Dent is also the president and founder of Dent Research and director of H.S. Dent Publishing.
Dent writes and markets an economic newsletter that reviews the economy in the US and around the world by focusing on generational consumer spending patterns, as well as financial markets. He has written eleven books, two recent ones being bestsellers. His most recent book, The Sale of a Lifetime, was released in September 2016.
The basis of Dent's investment thesis, spending wave theory, is that consumer spending related to the generational formation of families has a profound effect on the market value of investments such as financial securities, real estate, and gold. Dent's spending wave theory posits that young adults spend little within the greater economy, and spending increases while they rear children. It peaks as children leave home and then slows during the last 15 years of working life. According to Dent, the decreased spending patterns of the current generation of US baby boomers entering retirement will cause a pronounced downturn in the greater macro economy and an associated decline in the value of financial markets.

On this 65th episode of The CEO Story, I have Bobby Waldron. An athlete all of his life, Bobby began competing in wrestling at the age of four. His wrestling career found him winning many championships, setting records, and becoming an All-American wrestler in college. After missing the Olympic trials due to an injury, Waldron decided to pursue a career in personal training, using his college background in nutrition and physical education.
He was a top trainer at Crunch Gym in New York City, working with high-end clientele. His time in NYC led to appearances on various talk and morning shows as a fitness expert. His morning show spots lead to national commercials for fitness brands such as Nike and Adidas, as well as on-air opportunities with QVC.
He pivoted again, pursuing Muay Thai Kickboxing and martial arts. This passion for martial arts and competition led to Waldron’s next career move as a stuntman in top Hollywood films and television such as Die Hard With A Vengeance, Six Degrees of Separation and Devils Rejects, Sons Of Anarchy, Outsiders, Banshee and First Kill.
As a wrestler, Waldron was required to drop weight quickly and experimented with tons of creative measures for reaching his goal weight. One that had always worked and stood the test of time was wrapping the body with neoprene, causing the body’s thermal core temperature to rise, resulting in an increased metabolic rate. He brought this secret into his professional training life having his client wear similar products around the waist and thus The Belly Burner was born. Putting all of his resources into The Belly Burner, Waldron launched an infomercial for the product in early 2008 and the product was an instant success.

In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Cassie Petrey.
Cassie Petrey is co-founder of Crowd Surf, a digital marketing company providing catered and specialized marketing services to a roster of massive stars, everyone from Guns N Roses to Backstreet Boys, Fifth Harmony to Britney Spears. At age 12, Petrey ran an AOL Backstreet Boys newsletter that had over 10,000 subscribers, which led to being a serial super fan of several different artists.
By age 17, she landed a job at Warner Music Group as a College Representative. Shortly after signing on board, MySpace made its debut and Petrey capitalized on this avenue by setting up a page for one of the projects she had been assigned from Warner. This page was one of the first major label ventures into leveraging MySpace, and this led to a full time position in the Digital Department at Warner Bros.Records office in Nashville. In her role, she oversaw social networking campaigns for label stars such as Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, and many others.
When Petrey graduated college, the role of "Community Manager" didn't exist at companies. She knew social media platforms were more important than they were given credit for. Always seeking new and innovative ways to create organic, meaningful connections between artist and their fans, Petrey went on to form Crowd Surf in 2007, with long time friend Jade Driver.
At 25 years old, she was selected to be featured on Billboard’s “30 Under 30” list. This highlights executives making an impact in the industry and driving business forward. As a member to YEC (Young Entrepreneur Council), she has been quoted in numerous media outlets such as Huffington Post, Inc., Business Insider and more.
Today, their company has evolved into a 35-person team, with four offices and revolving roster of accounts boasting a collective social footprint of approximately 800 million followers.

In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Eric Levine - a global fitness expert who has paved the way for how gyms operate today. Eric Levine started in the fitness industry in 1979, when he was the first franchisee for Golds Gym, and opened up a chain of six clubs. These six clubs were the most profitable in the entire Gold’s chain of more than 100 clubs.
During that time Eric established Super Gym Advertising and Marketing company, the exclusive worldwide agency for all Gold’s Gyms, winning many international awards including the silver medal at Cannes! Eric then became a partner with Ray Wilson Family Fitness Centers, which grew to 72 locations. Eric went on to Asia and created California Fitness in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia. His clubs broke every imaginable record for fitness centers around the world. Eric then sold the chain of California Fitness centers to 24Hour Fitness, retaining a share in that company.
In 2004 24Hour Fitness sold for an incredible US$1,700,000,000. Eric was also the founder of Planet Yoga and Bikram Yoga in Asia, the first large yoga studios anywhere! Eric is currently an investor with Mark Mastrov in New Evolution Ventures which owns and manages such companies as UFC gyms worldwide. Eric has an exciting new company, combining with Revolution Precrafted, in a partnership with world champion boxing legend Manny Pacquiao! The new company is called HiTT by Manny and provides a boxing and full-body workout in a boutique setting. Eric is also the CEO of Eric Levine Global Fitness Expert, a fitness consulting company specializing in all aspects of the industry!
