What stops us from becoming bilingual? Why do people get so frustrated when learning a second language? In this podcast I talk about "The Lizard Brain", a primitive the part of the human brain that is mostly responsible for our sense of fear, and how it impacts on second-language acquisition. You'll see that children are naturally immune to the Lizard, while adults will always have to face it every time they speak, regardless of how fluent they are in their second language. I'll also discuss why it is important for us to stay away from the Lizard and to take pride in your still-imperfect words, if you wish to become bilingual.
