This crisis has seen the rise in the number of high net worth individuals and families investing in ‘pandemic passports’ – wherein they secure passports in countries that have strong national healthcare systems and that have adequately managed to contain the spread of the Corona virus within their borders.
Prior to the pandemic, securing these ‘second, stronger passports’ were primarily to gain visa-free access to more countries, protect their assets or reduce tax. But during the pandemic, many people have been investing in second passports primarily for their family’s health and safety considerations. And some of these countries even allow you to secure second passports without ever having to leave your home country.
Want to find out which countries are offering these ‘citizenships by investment’? Listen to this episode with my guest Hon. Philippe A. May, Managing Director and Head of Asia-Pacific of Arton Capital.
In the RJ LEDESMA PODCAST, I interview the country’s pioneering business personalities and entrepreneurs and learning more about how they think about business, what are their success secrets, how they innovated their businesses during the pandemic and what opportunities do they see emerging in the New Normal.

On this episode, we talk about the State (of Shock) of our Economy. At -16.5% for our 2nd Quarter GDP, our country is now technically in a recession.
But as an entrepreneur, I’ve been trained to be resilient and look for the ‘silver lining’ or the ‘opportunities in crisis’ during challenging times such as these. So I’ve enrolled the help of my good friends RCBC Vice President and Chief Economist Michael Ricafort and Director of Ateneo Center for Economic Research and Development Dr. Alvin P. Ang to help me get a better grasp of what were the key drivers for the steep decline, what were (if there were any) the bright spots in the economy during the second quarter and what are the emerging opportunities that entrepreneurs should pay attention to as we emerge (?) from this recession.
Michael Ricafort was recently named One of the Most Accurate in Predicting the Inflation Rate in 2018 and 2019 by the Department of Finance. Meanwhile, Dr. Alvin Ang is a professor of the Economics Department of the Ateneo de Manila University and sits on the Board of the Philippine Economic Society.
