Jaymee Mak is an actor, best known for her role as sugar-hating cub reporter Mackenzie on CW’s Supergirl. She’s also a filmmaker, winning Best Film and Best Actress in the 2019 Run N’ Gun 48-Hour Filmmaking Competition. She also wrote, produced and starred in “It’s Not You, It’s Not Me,” the first short film to explore a mixed relationship between an asexual man and sexual woman. Jaymee was born and raised in Melbourne’s, Australia, moving to Vancouver, Canada in 2013 after earning the Women in Games Scholarship to study game design at Vancouver Film School. Her training led to her working in the mobile gaming industry as a game designer, UX designer, Community Manager, and her current position as Associate Creative Producer at LBC Studios.

Scott Gellatly graduated in 1997 from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in drawing and painting. From 1998 to early 2020, he worked in the art material industry in Portland, OR. Throughout this time, Scott exhibited his paintings in solo and group shows and taught several classes and workshops. Scott has also lectured on painting materials and techniques throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. As of May of this year, Scott is now painting and teaching full time. Benjamin Lumb is a Sculptor and a Gallerist. The sculptural work of Benjamin intersects past and present. Through tactile storytelling, Benjamin explores memory, emotion, and social issues alongside utility and progress. Benjamin has several art galleries in Vancouver. He showcases the work of young and/or up-and-coming artists through paintings, sculptures, or whatever catches his eye. His galleries are filled with pieces that try to invoke emotion and a connection between the piece and its viewer. Dina Lu is a left-handed calligrapher, workshop instructor and business coach based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Dina founded her calligraphy business as Jennidi Creative after her mom was hospitalized in 2018 for depression and psychosis. The name “Jennidi Creative” is a combination of Dina’s mom’s name (Jenny) and Dina’s own name. Together, they started selling greeting cards—her mom painted the cards and Dina did the calligraphy on them. Dina loved running a creative business so much that she quit her 9-5 job last year to teach calligraphy workshops and sell calligraphy full-time. A few months ago, Dina rebranded her calligraphy business to Dina Calligraphy.
Currently, she teaching calligraphy workshops virtually for corporate teams in Canada, and she coaches calligraphers around the world on how to start a calligraphy business. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2017 with a Bachelor of Commerce and regularly volunteers her time to helping young entrepreneurs through the Canadian charity League of Innovators.

Masha Tikhonova grew up in a creative household and moved to Vancouver from Russia. After graduating from Emily Carr University in 2009, the industry was very difficult to get into. Amy talks to Masha about how there were very few jobs available that paid very little after the financial crash. So Masha started her own design studio, GrafikaVision (www.grafikavision.com). She offers services like graphic design, website design and logo design. Masha and a friend started the Baby Bibi brand (www.babybibi.com) right after her baby daughter was born. She named the brand after her! Masha's daughter was into reading and looking through books very early on and her first baby products became books for babies. Masha designs and illustrates all the products and sells them on Amazon. The first couple of products sold well so she decided to expand the product line and introduce new products. Today she share her time between Baby Bibi and GrafikaVision.

Welcome to Episode 1 of The Art Hustlers' Studio! Amelia Earhart, tattoo artist, joins Amy to talk about going to art school, doing her first tattoo, and using art to convey emotion. Amelia now works out of Soft Hand Studios as a handpoke tattoo artist. She learned tattooing from practicing on her friends and on herself.
