I posted on my Instagram earlier this week and a lot of people had their own opinions of what I said.

I believe that if we spent as much time on our side hustles/hobbies/etc we would be in a completely different place than what we find ourselves in. There's always room to go further with what you desire

I just wanted to share my suggestions on how to travel and gain some awesome experiences within college.

I have been trying to figure out my travel abroad plans and figure out how to fund them. I plan to have a part 2 with friends who can speak to the experience as I hope to experience both soon!

Hey everyone, I will be the first to admit that this episode isn't as happy and positive as most others are. I will also admit that I was emotional in this episode but somethings never get any easier...

I recorded this episode simply because I felt extremely disturbed and hurt by the events I read about in Charlotte, NC this morning. I also feel that it's a common topic that people don't discuss enough and not only does it affect college students like myself, but so many of us who can identify with it, don't even speak on it. It is personal, but it's not one person's burden.

In this episode I discuss some tactics I find helpful and things to consider before the busy tone of classes and the start of the semester sets in.

Before classes Begin:

Write down your goals

Write down the kind of person you aspire to be (qualities, habits, environments, etc)

Secure a mentor/friend/ accountability partner

Keep your mind Organized

When you're overwhelmed, that's when life takes you over

Think in "So What's?"

Why does it matter?

How will this affect me/situation/other people

What's the priority? What will help me make progress towards my goal? Will this make a difference?

Will this stress/hurt/help me a week from now/next semester/next year/ etc?

Being Great Takes Time

Your experience is Yours and yours only. It is your perspective and that is completely dependent on you.

Don't give other people the power to control YOUR experience.

Whatever you want to gain or learn from/in college is possible! There are people looking for exactly what you have to offer the world. Keep striving.

WARNING. This is very rant-ish. Why? I have been in my feelings about almost missing a week, yes I am hard on myself, but all the people who enjoy what they do and are great at it do too.

Actions show importance.

This is why I've subconsciously been so hard on myself about working on my podcast. I know one day I will miss a week, or two or three... BUT until then, I need to keep going. Laziness isn't allowed to take me down.

In this episode I share a little about why I think being kind to people is important. Know this, people will NOT always be kind to you. Nevertheless, that should not dictate your actions because your actions are definitely a reflection of you.

In this episode I share a few points to keep in mind.

What's the importance of kindness?

The 2-Second Rule

Compassion Attracts Kindness

Remember: Compassion/Sympathy, Mercy, Empathy

In todays's episode I talk about how to remain positive in an environment that may not be the most helpful. It's still up to you to choose to consistently be positive, regardless of what your environment is conducive to.

  1. Decide-what matters to you? What do you value? What is important to YOU?
  2. Accept/Reject
  3. If you accept something into your space/give it your energy, make sure that it raises you up instead of bringing you down. If you reject something, then do so unapologetically. Replace that rejection with a more positive experience that you can afford.
  4. Remember the positivity factor! Do your part, as long as it depends on you!
  5. Make good decisions consistently so that they become habits!

I think that something I have always struggled with has been choosing who to surround myself with. I've learned a lot over the years and although I will be the first to admit it, I have yet to master it. I believe it's a constantly evolving process, that changes as our preferences change.

So in this episode, I discuss the difference between relationships with friends and family. I share my Personal Bill of Rights (... to relationships/of an individual) and I speak a little bit about the importance of healthy decision making. I also share a few guiding questions that help me when I navigate relationships.

When picking your people, decide upfront what you will and will not deal with. (Friendships, romantic relationships, and even with family members.

Remember that you constantly make the CHOICE to grant or deny someone access into your life/space.

How do you define friendship? What are your expectations for your friends, are they unspoken?

Make your decisions from a healthy place! People have feelings, experiences, and perspectives that shape them.

(Bill of) Rights of Relationships/Individuals

People are allowed to

  1. Grow or remain stagnant
  2. Accept or Deny Behaviors/Apologies (and are not required to give you an apology)
  3. Change their mind and feel differently
  4. Do what they want when they want, & without an explanation.
  5. Have friends/life outside of a friendship

In today's episode, I talk a little bit about how to speak things into existence. I believe it's a skill that allows many of us to realize the power that we have over our own lives. Your perception is your reality and yet many of us, knowing this, still struggle with feeling powerless when things get hard or when they don't work out our way.

Sometimes, it's as simple as making a decision. You are not helpless, we all have our low points. But they become shorter and more shallow the more we acknowledge that we are all power"full" individuals.

Consistency is key. Making the decision and executing actions that get you closer to it is a large part. Speaking things into existence becomes easier with practice. You either use it, or lose it.

Extremely brief episode. Just a quick shout out to the graduate class of 2018. Remember that accomplishments should always be celebrated. Clap for yourself, especially if you are the only one clapping, and Thank who you need to!

Support systems should never be taken for granted, thank God, and acknowledge everyone who helps you along the way.

Comparison is a race that you cannot win, but there is a such thing as healthy competition. Knowing the difference is a major key. You have to measure using your own scale.

Regardless pf how long it takes to accomplish a goal, it is still an accomplishment.

To the graduates of 2018, good luck in all your endeavors, I'm sending positive vibes your way. Be sure to help someone else on your way up!
