In this episode, we are looking at franchise films again - but this time through two specific case studies of "legacy" franchise films (films that have a predecessor film(s) that released well before the newest instalment has released). In this episode, SHE'S BACK AND MORE EXCITABLE THAN EVER! It's the 50th episode and time to shake things up - talking about the question that everyone in the film space has been discussing since the pandemic began, is cinema dying? Three years on from the infamous Martin Scorsese Empire Interview claiming that "Marvel movies aren't cinema", I discuss what this means and the real life implications of this statement. I'VE FINALLY RETURNED and with an episode I've been waiting to do for so long now. In this week's episode, to celebrate Daniel Craig's portrayal as James Bond, I look back at every single one of his James Bond films - discussing my thoughts and rankings of them. This includes No Time To Die (currently in cinemas) as well as his older ones: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall & Spectre. Until then, I decided to give you my breakdown of the previous years Academy Award ceremony as it was (in my opinion) one of the strongest seasons I currently have seen. In this week's episode, I talk about one of my favourite films of all time - La La Land. There is a lot of in depth analysis about three important elements within the film. First being the actual plot and whether the story was well written. The second is the cinematography and how - especially in this film - it plays such a crucial role in the emotions the audience feel when watching. Finally, the cinematic score and songs within this film are almost as (dare I say even more) important that the actual dialogue in the film which is an interesting concept to explore. Enjoy :)

In this week's episode, Krishna and I talk about female representation in films and tv shows. From the famous Bechdel test to a case study (listen to the episode to find which film), we go into immense detail surrounding the topic. Also, we discuss how Hollywood attempt female reboots (are they really successful?) as well as how females are generally represented in films. Finally, we explore a previously mentioned topic but in the context of females which is how the film industry can incorporate subtle representation going forward. In this week's episode, Kingsley and I discuss all of the Best Picture nominees of the 2018 Academy Awards Ceremony. We separate the weaker films to the stronger films of the year exploring where our opinions are similar and differ. The films we dive into include: Darkest Hour, Phantom Thread, The Shape of Water (yes again), Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, The Post and Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. That's a whole bucket load of films! Then, we crown our own winners of 2018, seeing whether it is the same or different to the actual winner that year. In this week's episode, I am essentially gushing about the amazing New Zealand born filmmaker and actor, Taika Waititi. I decide to rank all of his lesser known, non-franchise films in order of my least favourite to my absolute favourite of all time but (spoiler alert) they are all amazing films! These films are: Boy, Jojo Rabbit, Eagle vs Shark, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople. In this amazing episode, Matt and I are pitted against each other in a heated debate on the Academy Award winning film for Best Picture, The Shape of Water, directed by Guillermo del Toro. We discuss the unique plot of the film as well as the use of cinematography to add small Easter eggs that you wouldn't normally understand the first time you watch it.
