Jason has guest Lorenda Friesen with him today. Lorenda is the Dean of Women at Nipawin Bible College since fall 2020, but has already decades of life experience walking alongside others in discipleship. Lorenda has a heart to continue growth in her own walk with God, and developing spiritual mothers (being discipled by others), spiritual sisters (peer discipling), and spiritual daughters (discipling others) as she determines to live out the truth of God's Word in light of eternity and how short life on this earth really is! Join us today for a great conversation of how important it is to be intentional in the Body of Christ, the local church. "Core" discipleship at NBC looks like a community with common interest, taught the truth of God's Word, being ultra intentional in relationship within the community to ensure accountability and walking together toward growing deeper in our relationship with Jesus Christ, as we show our students what the local church is to be like and send them back better equipped after 1-4 years to be a vital part of the Body of Christ!

Bradly talks about the ways NBC combines community and class together, and how we model to students the "how to's", and importance of doing discipleship as part of the local church, and how we walk with them on their NBC journey to best prepare them for the rest of their life with that on their radar." In our previous episode (4) Bradly introduce how important class is to growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ. On Episode 5 today's guest, Dr. Paul Smith, comes with some "clout" in the classroom. He has taught in 15 countries around the world over the past handful of years, and has additionally spent numerous years with own training in the classroom in earning his PhD. On staff at Nipawin since last spring, he shares from his experience and how he's seeing the negative effects of a lack of biblical classroom training around the world. At the same time, in his role with Admissions over 10 years, Jason is seeing less and less interest in the Canadian local church in attending a Bible College. Is taking "bible" in class a waste of time? Is it a better use of your time, effort, and money to do it on your own? Join us and take in the discussion!

It’s something where we need to be seeking to gain more information about the word of God with the intent that we want to know Him and love Him and obey Him. We’re not just looking to study God’s Word just get more knowledge - actually the Bible says that knowledge can puff up.”
Why do we need class time, academics, instruction, as part of discipleship? Brad and Jason talk about how important it is to train our minds as part of being equipped to live out the truth of God's Word as disciples of Jesus Christ.**
Jason interviews 2nd year NBC student and special guest Evan Stensrud to talk about his experience with community as discipleship both growing up in a local church and during his time at Nipawin. They talk about growing in the discovery of our calling to be disciples of Jesus Christ, and to grow in our calling of discipling others as God continues to do a good work in and grow us.
Jason asks Evan about any differences between 1st and 2nd year in terms of his awareness regarding community life and its importance, and leaves us with a challenge to look at how we are being intentional to grow community in our local church, recognizing the vital role of community as part of discipleship.
In this episode Bradly and Jason talk through how important community is to growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ. They talk about some of the current cultural realities in Canada, how people have a hunger for real (face to face) community, and yet, aren't always living that out in their local churches. Brad and Jason take time to talk through how NBC students are shown what living in a discipleship community can and should look like so that as they move on from Nipawin they can best live out community as part of the local church. Time is spent in Romans 12.

We are taking time to discuss a harder reality: Growth at Bible College and what may contribute to a student who doesn't feel like they grew spiritually during their time here. You will also hear Brad and Jason's take on responding to feedback and noteworthy advice for students coming this fall. Enjoy!
Today, we are taking time to discuss the assumption that Bible College is just about head knowledge. You will hear Brad and Jason clarify what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. As well, why learning about God's word is not about gaining more information, but is meant for transformation to be more like Christ by the work of the Spirit of God.
Today, we discuss accreditation. What is it? Is it a barrier for Bible Colleges that don't have accreditation? Listen in, to think about a topic there is often many assumptions in.
