Benita Tyler grew up in San Diego, California where she attended San Diego State University. Throughout her life she realized there was a common denominator between the love she had for children and her desire to help others. She raised six children, and has helped many fallen angels throughout her life’s journey. When she turned fifty she had an epiphany! She realized she was a broken woman who spent the better part of her life wandering aimlessly around trying to find the root cause of her despair. She began to place her thoughts on paper and was able to face her demons. Out of that self-analysis her memoir Addicted to Dysfunction: Released to Live Life Out Loud was born. This led to a passionate writing career and desire to become a life coach. Her second book Put Up or Get Shut Down tells the epic tale of “Salty Dog” her husband’s alter ego who takes you on a journey into the urban motorcycle world.
After finding a comfortable place among her peer as a writer she took the next step and penned her first novel Wayward Sisters, an intriguing story about three women whose lives are intertwined by their good and bad choices. They confront their demons by trial and error and eventually live the victorious lives they dreamt about. She has been featured on many internet radio shows and is available for public speaking events. She currently lives in Kokomo, Indiana with her husband and young daughter.

ShaVonda L Williams is a living testament that when you have a renewal of your mind, you can achieve anything you can conceive. She was on the verge of giving up, but God had more plans for her life. She visited a doctor to complain about her immobility; she wasn't able to get around without hurting. At only thirty-six years old, she was in need of some help.
"You are not in need of medical help," he said. "You are fat and need a new diet and exercise plan." ShaVonda was furious, hurt and embarrassed, but a light bulb went off. She owed it to herself not to be insulted by someone that really didn't know her or what she had endured. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she got PISSED! No longer was she going to be the butt end of anyone else's fat insults. Once her mind was made up, she found the strength to do something about her weight issue. Almost 100 pounds later, the storm is over!

Domesitc Abuse occurs when one person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control the other person. Domestic abuse that includes physical violence is called domestic violence.
Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you. An abuser doesn’t “play fair.” Abusers use fear, guilt, shame, and intimidation to wear you down and keep you under his or her thumb. Your abuser may also threaten you, hurt you, or hurt those around you.
Domestic violence and abuse does not discriminate. It happens among heterosexual couples and in same-sex partnerships. It occurs within all age ranges, ethnic backgrounds, and economic levels. And while women are more commonly victimized, men are also abused—especially verbally and emotionally, although sometimes even physically as well. The bottom line is that abusive behavior is never acceptable, whether it’s coming from a man, a woman, a teenager, or an older adult. You deserve to feel valued, respected, and safe.

“Gender expression” refers to the ways in which we each manifest masculinity or femininity. Each of us expresses a particular gender every day – by the way we style our hair, select our clothing, or even the way we stand. Our appearance, speech, behavior, movement, and other factors signal that we feel – and wish to be understood – as masculine or feminine, or as a man or a woman.
For some of us, our gender expression may not match our biological sex. We may or may not fit another's expectations of masculinity or femininity because of the way we look, act, or dress. Our guest knows firsthand the struggle of not feeling her assigned sex. Author Tracy James Jones, though born male, has been referred to as “she” throughout her life. She never fully embraced the male gender as her own because she always felt or related more to being viewed as female. At the age of fifteen, she made a tearful confession to God on the altar at her church—she finally embraced her true self because she believed that God loved her, too.
E. Lynn Harris, introduced millions of readers to the "invisible life" of black gay men. Openly gay, Harris was best known for his depictions of African-American men who were on the down-low and closeted. He authored ten consecutive books that reached The New York Times Best Seller list, making him among the most successful African-American or gay authors of his era. Harris abruptly died in Los Angeles in July 2009, where he was meeting with television and film executives about his books. Since his death, there has been a noticeable void in the African-American publishing world, particularly in the gay fiction genre.
We will be joined by two of Harris’ literary offspring, authors Mondell T. Pope and Bryan T. Clark.

Religion is a very controversial topic, primarily because it is one of the key ways that we define ourselves. I am Baptist. I am Apostolic. I am Jewish. I am Catholic. The list goes on and on. Religion can be the core of a person; it encompasses their set of values and beliefs. An attack on a religious thought is seen as an attack on that person, and that in turn is seen as something to be defended. You attack a religion, you are attacking the core of a person's self, and that causes controversy. Because we’ve defined ourselves this way, we have the need to be right. Well, everyone can’t be right. For this reason, I constantly tell people that you have to know Him (and for me that Him is God) for yourself. Religion is not so much about rules and beliefs as it is about relationship.

The stigma surrounding mental health issues in the African American community is especially thick, making it very difficult for persons suffering from depression to acknowledge it, let alone seek treatment. Some believe that therapy is only for wealthy, White people, or that you aren’t supposed to go outside the family with your problems. In the faith-based community we are taught to rely on faith and prayer much more than therapy. This mindset keeps us struggling more than we need to. In fact, statistics show that African Americans are more likely to have depression for longer periods because we don’t receive proper diagnosis and treatment.
Host, J'son M. Lee, and author Imani Wisdom have both battled depression. Tune in to hear their stories. Let's break the taboo!

If there was one word to describe Author Johnie Jay, it would be passionate. He has always been verbally passionate but it wasn't until his first creative writing class, in 9th grade, when he found that his passion, mixed with his vast and lucid imagination could create temporary getaways. That's all a book is really, a getaway from the world, an escape. "I want every word of every sentence to be evocative. If I can't make you feel, taste or smell every scene that I create then what's the point?" Romance and passion goes hand in hand but when you add to it detailed and vivid sex scenes you're left with an explosive concoction. He has blended all three harmoniously in his first romantic novel, Inevitable ActI (of II). He looks forward to sharing his imagination with the world!
