50-Year-Old Grandma Who Didn’t Know She Was Pregnant Gives Birth: ‘I Used to Call Bull on That’
The 50-year-old, who also has two grandkids, got the surprise of her life in October when she learned she was 26 weeks pregnant, despite two different doctors telling her a year earlier that she was in menopause.
Hall, from Naples, Florida, didn’t have any morning sickness or weight gain. Although she experienced a few aches and pains, she figured they were caused by either menopause or lupus, which she’s had for ten years. But on Oct. 8, out of curiosity, she decided to buy a pregnancy test and was stunned to find out she was expecting a baby with her 47-year-old husband, Jerry.

Success is viewed, weighed, and measured in many different ways. The Groundhog found this article which we feel takes a fresh and very real approach to what success is and how to have it in your life.
1. It’s Never As Good As You Think It Will Be “One of the enemies of happiness is adaptation,” says Dr. Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at Cornell University who has studied the relationship between money and happiness for over two decades.“We buy things to make us happy, and we succeed. But only for a while. New things are exciting to us at first, but then we adapt to them,” Gilovich further states.
Actually, savoring the anticipation or idea of the desired outcome is generally more satisfying than the outcome itself. Once we get what we want — whether that’s wealth, health, or excellent relationships — we adapt and the excitement fades. Often, the experiences we’re seeking end up being underwhelming and even disappointing.
I love watching this phenomenon in our foster kids. They feel like they need a certain toy or the universe will explode. Their whole world revolves around getting this one thing. Yet, once we buy the toy for them, it’s not long before the joy fades and they want something else.
Until you appreciate what you currently have, more won’t make your life better.
2. It’s Never As Bad As You Think It Will Be Just as we deceive ourselves into believing something will make us happier than it will, we also deceive ourselves into believing something will be harder than it will.
The longer you procrastinate or avoid doing something, the more painful (in your head) it becomes. However, once you take action, the discomfort is far less severe than you imagined. Even to extremely difficult things, humans adapt.
I recently sat on a plane with a lady who has 17 kids. Yes, you read that correctly. After having eight of her own, she and her husband felt inspired to foster four siblings whom they later adopted. A few years later, they took on another five foster siblings whom they also adopted.
Of course, the initial shock to the system impacted her entire family. But they’re handling it. And believe it or not, you could handle it too if you had to.
The problem with dread and fear is that it holds people back from taking on big challenges. What you will find — no matter how big or small the challenge — is that you will adapt to it.

As of last week, America’s national debt is up to $22 trillion - juuuust a little bit more than pocket change. Anyone who’s been in a financial jam will tell you one of the quickest solutions is selling of stuff you don’t need, so in that spirit, someone has started a petition on Change.org to sell Montana to Canada. Which makes sense, because what’s even in Montana anyway? When was the last time we used it? Doesn’t it kinda just sit there and collect dust?

Devin and Keith discuss celestial bodies (not their own) and other celestial events, a recent one being the shape of a Dragon in the sky.
A gargantuan green dragon hisses in the sky over Iceland. Either "Game of Thrones" really upped its production budget for its final season, or the sun belched a barrage of charged particles into our atmosphere again.
As much as any of us would like to see a real dragon breathe flames into the winter sky, buzzkill NASA blames solar activity — as usual — for the writhing, "fire-breathing"- aurora that loomed over Iceland earlier this month.
Auroras like this occur when some of the sun's many magnetic field lines twist together and burst, creating sunspots. Charged particles gush out of these spots and soar on the solar wind deep into space. If Earth happens to be in the way of such a stellar energy storm, the particles crash into our planet's own magnetic field and careen through our atmosphere toward the poles. Along the way, those particles interact with molecules of oxygen, nitrogen and other elements in our atmosphere to create the dazzling light show we call the aurora.

Devin and Keith discuss the scary nature of a man coming home to find his house inhabited by a woman and her family.
Kent Foster says he knew something was wrong the instant he returned to his house in Union, South Carolina, last week.
A dog he’d never seen before was in his yard — and a car seat was barricading his front door, he told local Fox affiliate WHNS.
He wasn’t sure what was going on. Then he heard a baby cry.
Moments later, a woman he was unfamiliar with poked her head out the door and asked, “What are you doing at my house?” Foster said.

A 12-year-old kid from Tennessee created a nuclear reaction in his family's playroom in January 2018, according The Guardian. That makes him the youngest known person to have done so.
The Open Source Fusor Research Consortium (a group of nuclear hobbyists) recognized Jackson Oswalt's achievement on Feb. 2, according to a report by commercial appeal, a USA Today affiliate. Oswalt, now 14, built a machine that generates a plasma in which nuclear fusion occurs — not splitting an atom, but rather crushing atoms together to form heavier atoms.

Devin and Keith discuss the Awesomeness and Weirdness of "The Umbrella Academy", a new show on Netflix (which actually came out in February, 2019)
The Umbrella Academy is unlike any other superhero show on Netflix, or anywhere else for that matter. It has a talking chimpanzee, killer music cues, blood-soaked teen crime-fighters, and even a timeless gay romance. But as different as Umbrella Academy is from, say, all the superhero shows on Netflix or The CW, this kooky super show still has the one thing comic fans love about all of this stuff: superpowers!
All the Umbrella Academy heroes have powers, but they’re not your typical super-skills. Seriously, this show doesn’t do anything in the expected way. No one on this team is just a speedster or stretchy person like countless other characters. Every Academy member has a bizarre ability or, if they have a gift you’ve seen before, the show gives you a funky twist on it.
Because of the show’s unusual vibe and large cast, it may be hard to figure out who has what power. On top of that, there are plenty of power-related spoilers that confuse matters even more. Oh, also, spoiler warning for some of these entries! Without further ado, here’s your guide to the powers of the Umbrella Academy.

Historical figures murdered by time traveling government agents? Devin and Keith discuss the claims and determine whether or not it is plausible... Washington, D.C. | A man from Virginia turned himself in at the FBI headquarters this morning, claiming that he was guilty of killing more than 30 people, including the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. 71-year-old Leroy Timothy Anderson, claims he worked for 35 years as a “time-traveling assassin” for a secret governmental agency and says he has killed people at various times, going from 1678 to 2239.
The elderly man declared that his actions were all legitimate and ordered by the government, but that he fears his former employers might want to eliminate him because he knows too much.
He claims that he was part a program called the Chronos Project, which was designed, coordinated, and executed by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the United States special operations forces, under the supervision of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
