Juliet Hooker, a political theorist at Brown University and a scholar of Black political thought and racial justice, talks to Daniel Nichanian (The Appeal: Political Report) on the politics of the latest Black Lives Matter protests.
Chesa Boudin, a public defender who drew national attention for his decarceral platform, will be the next district attorney of San Francisco. I discussed the implications of his win on Monday with two San Francisco advocates who supported his campaign, Lara Bazelon and Emily Lee. I asked them about the organizing that went into Boudin’s victory, and about what they thought is next for mass incarceration, immigration, and racial justice in San Francisco.
