Meet Amanda Keen, CEO of Keen & Co Aesthetics, a vegan, CBD infused skincare line. Amanda is an awesome woman who created a business around two of the things she loves most... skincare and cannabis. Listen in as we talk about the hard work and dedication it takes to build a business from scratch. And the exceptional challenges facing companies incorporating CBD. Cannabidiol, aka CBD, is an active ingredient in cannabis derived from the hemp plant. It's not illegal (per se), and it definitely won't get you high. But, as Amanda found out as her skincare line gained popularity, working with CBD creates unique challenges. Amanda shares the lessons she's learned through her journey, and teaches us all a little something about how beauty, and skincare, is so much more than skin deep. This story is not to be missed, and will certainly be continued! For more information, or to purchase Keen & Co skincare products, follow their story on Facebook, or check out their website!
Meet Melanie Schantz… an artist and songwriter based out of Toms River, NJ. Some of you may remember her from The Central Monmouth Advice Givers Podcast, but for those of you who haven’t met her yet, I know you’ll love Melanie as much as I do. Not only is she responsible for creating our awesome logo, she made created the music for our podcast too! She uses her love of music and TV as inspiration for her art, creating pieces with musicians formed by handwritten lyrics or titles to their songs, and TV prints that are made by little illustrations of references to shows. She makes up one half of the musical due Melanie and Sonny, and is part of an amazing songwriting group called The Better Half. Check them out on Instagram to hear their musical talents. And don’t miss her Etsy shop, The Prints of Pop, to see her incredible artwork! In this interview we discuss how anyone can be an artist, how to overcome obstacles facing musicians, and how Melanie uses her talents to bring joy to people of all ages!

Welcome to the Journey to Impact Podcast. My team and I created this platform to help amazing people share their stories. Here you’ll get to know some hard-working business owners, inspiring community leader, and some generally awesome people doing amazing things! People on a mission to make a difference in their corner of the world. Making a positive impact. And sharing their journeys with us.
Our objective is simple. We aim to bring you the best advice from our communities brightest minds. It used to be that you could visit a website or sit down with a magazine or newspaper, and find stories about people striving to make a difference. People building interesting things. Inspiring change and discovering new solutions to our biggest problems. They were our neighbors, our teachers, our colleagues, our favorite service providers.
It also wasn’t all that long ago when we could count on the media to spotlight good people with strong character, people from our own backyard. And when you read the stories you were inspired to believe. To think, Hey! If they can do it, why can’t I?
To me, the saddest part is these stories are still being written. They’re happening all around us. But no one is paying attention. The media hits us with sensational headlines, Clickbait, controversy, and scandals. Pretty much anything to stir up anger and inspire fear. And those other publications, well they just hit us with advertisement after advertisement after advertisement…
What happened to good local journalism? The art of storytelling? Transparency? The truth? When did we choose to sacrifice the human element for clickbait and the Almighty advertising dollars?
Ultimately this puts us, the consumers, at a significant disadvantage. I mean let's face it in a noisy and an often unscrupulous marketplace how do we even know who we can trust anymore?
It’s not easy.
Fact is, before you can really trust someone first you need to get to know that person on a deeper, more personal level. What's their story? What were their defining moments? What do they stand for? Do their values and viewpoints align with yours?
These kinds of questions can only be answered by having a meaningful conversation with someone. It’s only when hearing someone's voice and understanding their thought process that you actually begin to trust them.
We all love a good story right? It’s ingrained in us. It’s part of human nature. Good stories begin with great characters. And good people make the greatest characters. When you find good people, they tend to be fueled by good intentions, passionate, burning desires to leave the world a better place than they found it. They want to solve real problems. Help real people. Strengthen their communities.
So when it comes to getting real advice for life's most important and expensive decisions do you really want to rely on a stranger? A paid ad? A random online review that may or may not even be real? I sure don’t.
That’s why we at The Journey to Impact Podcast are committed to having candid conversations. We believe the truth lives in real authentic stories. So we're here to break the mold.
