It seems like there is a lot of self preservation when it comes to teams and conferences being on the football field this year in college football. It's really important for teams to be on the same page with one another. There is not you can control during this pandemic but you can control 10/12 or 14 members at the table, that comes down to the college conferences themselves.
The goal for MLB is you want to have zero positive tests. That will be a good sign for baseball. It will have to be an absolute massive outbreak for baseball to shut down completely. Having said that, you don't want one player being reckless because that ruins everyone's fun this summer and potentially fall.
Things will most likely get delayed when it comes to starting the season in the NFL. They have had a long time to watch other sports, but they haven't been as buttoned up as they could be when it comes to returning. There is so much uncertainty in terms of coming back for the NFL. It was really important they came to a labor agreement right before the Pandemic hit and they did!
Grant states that it is encouraging that so many MLB players do want to see the field. There are not as many positive tests as Grant would have assumed. Big picture for the game and beyond that is a good thing. People should be excited and happy that there hasn't been a lot of momentum in the outcry to not play. Washington D.C. is so excited for the Nationals
Jason discusses regarding the Redskins, It's not that hard to change your uniform and helmets, but the name is harder. When FedEx comes in and says change the name and Nike doesn't want to deal with the name, that is the time for the Redskins to really take notice about their name. This has become a huge money issue. That is why Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder needed to act. This won't impact their in season performance; the teams also need to focus on their health.
Steve believes that the only thing that matters right now when it comes to the NBA is how good each team is NOW. The Pelicans have a far worse record than the Jazz, but they are better than the Jazz right now. The Pelicans have a very easy schedule and therefore may very well claw their way into the playoffs. A team like the Blazers, Steve doesn’t like their chances all that much. The Patriots obviously got better with new addition Cam Newton
Each region has been impacted by Covid-19 differently. College football right now is littered with teams and schools that have had Covid-19 breakouts before the season. It’s important to isolate them, but so many of these players are testing positive in different places. It illustrates how difficult this is going to be to have a season. Football is such a high intensity sport with a locker room with so many guys. This will not be easy.
With a short season there is much more of a chance of randomness in terms of getting into the playoffs. There will be teams that have no shot at getting in the playoffs had it been 162 games, but with a 60 game regular season, depth doesn’t matter nearly as much nor will the strength of a farm system matter as much. This 60 game schedule will be a lot of fun. The Blue Jays feel like they are going to take a step up. We are also going to see the last of pitchers hitting.
The NFL had put out a mandate to not have these multi-person workouts. Nobody should be getting special treatment. The NFL at the end of the day wants to make sure they get their players on the field. Without fans in the stands, the NFL knew there would never be 100% capacity at this point. We knew this in as early as March we would not have had full stadiums in the fall. The states that say they would have had full capacity are the ones that are experiencing Covid-19 the worst right now
John discusses how the NFL is actually so much easier to operate when it comes to the Coronavirus compared to college football because of the amount of teams. We know that a lot of the NFL young guys have been already practicing together and have been out in social settings. There will be a lot of NFL players contracting this. The NFL realizes how much money is at stake if the season were to truly not happen. TV ratings would be record breaking for the NFL because of all the fans that will be watching who won’t be at the game. Why not put ads in the seats?
Nick points out that we saw how important a good quarterback is in the NFL when the Lions lost Matthew Stafford. The Cowboys are a trademark franchise in the NFL, you can’t have an average QB or backup QB situation in Dallas. By not signing Dak Prescott long term you leave that to chance. Dak signing the Tender this weekend doesn't seem like the worst idea. We know that Pat Mahomes is going to reset the market so it’s important for the Cowboys to get the deal gets done sooner than later with Dak.
David believes this 2020 MLB season is very much in jeopardy, not even so much because of the financials, but because of the Coronavirus. Right now what the players will be offered is one year deals. There is even uncertainty as to whether or not there will be fans in stands in 2021. In our lifetime we have never seen anything like this in sports. From a negotiating standpoint MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is getting an A, but from a public relations standpoint he is at about a C. He’s paid to be that A in negotiating, the public relations comes second.
Jason says it makes sense why the NFL Draft was done in the manner in which it was done. Roger Goodell knows he has to make up for the way he handled social justice early on. We know that because of Co-Vid 19 the timing of certain things may not look good. We know there will be a good chance of no preseason games. Then again, college football makes it work so why can't the NFL? The NFL also needs to make sure they are looking after the well being of their players.
Mike understands that if the 2020 season doesn't take place, this is going to hurt the MLB players down the line. We also know that it won't be a good look for baseball. The MLBPA is sticking to their convictions. It is about revenue and the players want their fair share. The way the MLB operates is they certainly are willing to be quick to cut players salaries. Players making concessions will also give them a higher minimum salary. Understands the public might sour on the league for the time being.
Cory believes In terms of college football coming back let's see what the MLB does. The Heisman Trophy winner may very well be Trevor Lawrence. We do know that LSU is defending their title. The question will be who can knock off Clemson still. Another key question in college football is who will be the Baylor of this season. Notre Dame will always be an interesting pick in terms of winning a national title at the beginning of the season. This should be a very big year for Brian Kelly.

Geltz knows Dwyane Wade was trusted at an early age for the Miami Heat. The Heat retired his jersey last night and it was so well done. He's one of the greatest shooting guards to ever live. It's so cool to see how many historical figures respect him. The Clippers are not as good as some might have expected. Players that were supposed to get better with Kawhi Leonard simply haven't gotten better. Aside from the Lakers it's the Nuggets you have to look at as the biggest threat to the Lakers in the Western Conference
Scott points out that the thing that is different about the Astros scandal compared to the Red Sox scandal is there was a whistleblower. The Astros scandal long term won’t impact too many players from jumping on board when it comes to winning a title. Winning a title is so difficult. Justin Verlander was a Tiger for life it seemed, but wanted to win so bad he connected with the Astros. The Astros run isn’t done, but they are entering a very critical stage in their franchise history. Rob Manfred’s press conference last week to say the least wasn’t good. The players certainly didn’t appreciate it.
Babe can’t see the Cowboys ultimately not wanting Dak Prescott long term. The Cowboys have never let a player they desired walk. Can’t see Dak moving on because as a franchise the recognition and brand you have is amplified with being a Dallas Cowboy. There is a reason why the highest Monday Night Football ratings last season were Cowboy related. Mike McCarthy will make a significant difference for the Cowboys as their new Head Coach.
Jared doesn’t really see the incentive for the NFL to go 17 games in the regular season. The way the NFL does the schedule now makes a whole lot of sense. Tom Brady will most likely play for a non Patriots team if he were to comes back. This will be the biggest move in the NFL if it were to happen. The most interesting move would be if the Panthers decided to move on from Cam Newton and then the question becomes where does he go?

The Rockets with Russell Westbrook and James Harden are a very talented dynamic duo. If they are hot, they can beat anybody. With the Hawks, Trae Young is very talented, but he needs to step up on defense. Clint Capela going to Atlanta will give them a great defensive anchor in the middle. The Heat shouldn't expect a lot out of Andre Iguodala at this point of his career. He wasn't great last year in the playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, the Bucks need to be better come this postseason.
The XFL looks like it might work and be a success. It's funny that there are all these point structures in the XFL. When it comes to sustainability for the Chiefs carrying the torch for a little while they will do just fine because of how they have navigated the salary cap. It's difficult to maintain for most teams because there is so much parody. You have that rookie contract with Patrick Mahomes so that certainly favors the Chiefs. That's why their window remains open.
The Red Sox didn't make this deal to come out on top in the AL East when it came to making the Mookie Betts to Dodgers trade. There will be punishment for the Red Sox in sign stealing. Commissioner Rob Manfred said there will be no punishment when it comes to the Red Sox players. Players are incredibly angry when it comes to these cheating scandals from other teams. A.J. Hinch seems the most genuine when it comes to contrition for the cheating.
There were some interesting Prop Bets in the Super Bowl. If Tom Brady switches teams the Patriots will likely be under 9.5 wins. Who knows the uncertainty of what QB they will get. Having said that, Tom Brady at this point of his career is a below average QB. It's ludacris for the 49ers to want to put Brady on the 49ers instead of Jimmy Garoppolo. The XFL rules are designed to help the offenses. Surprised that the Lakers are the favorites in the West and not the Clippers.
What Kyle Shanahan must be telling his team is unknown to all, but whatever he’s saying is to serve the team. Patrick Mahomes is not the greatest QB of all-time yet. Nobody saw this game being 10-10 at halftime. The 49ers have to be happy it hasn’t turned into a boat race yet, which favors the Chiefs. Mahomes hasn’t exploded yet. Will that be the case in the 2nd half? This game is close, which the NFL always favors.
Steve starts off by talking about when it comes to betting there are a ton of things are going on last minute. The weather is perfect for this game. LeSean McCoy was a healthy scratch. A really unique prop bet is the amount of Chiefs that will run the ball on Sunday. Super Bowls are higher scoring games because of long halftimes show so teams have even more time to make adjustments.

Patrick Mahomes is very close to being on the Mount Rushmore of Kansas City Sports Athletes, especially if he were to win the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes simply wouldn’t let this team lose on Sunday.

The Astros weren't punished enough, but also were punished too harshly at the same time. The bottom line is the MLB wants teams to wake up and not cheat themselves and the game. The amount of Derrick Henry carries in this game would be monitored because of how much he did in the previous two playoff games. Kansas City would have to be the favorite against either NFC team in the Super Bowl.
