What a habit this has been.
We've had so much fun, learned so much, and sincerely hope you have too.
We're so happy to celebrate 193 shows and end the year with a bang (not a whimper).
We're bringing on past guests to talk about their take-outs, and what they want to take into 2021, and to celebrate the season with us.
Come join us on this spectacular 2-hour episode of #CareerCarePackage and tell us what you've learned and would like to take forward.
Ever struggled with the inner voice that tells you that you're not good enough?
Perhaps that voice is so buried among all the busyness of day to day work, you don't even hear it and you may find yourself constantly striving to improve yourself or prove yourself without knowing why.
Today on #CareerCarePackage Karalyn Brown and I are excited to be talking to Author and Coach Cassandra Goodman on her book Self Fidelity.
We'll discuss how to get back in tune with who we really are and what we really want for our lives - and the greater work (and life) fulfillment this provides.
Pretty blunt eh? But today we're not just saying this with love - we're bringing strengths coach and expert Marcia Teperman Teperman - the brains behind the "turning it around" technique to help us all embrace a life full of possibilities.
Are leaders born, not made? Has Covid meant we need a different style of leadership? And what about self-leadership? Today we put these questions and more to Zoe Routh Routh.
Karalyn Brown and I can't wait to talk to Zoe!
Zoe is the Author of "People Stuff" a book that won the coveted Australian Business Book of the Year, 2020 prize.
She's also an experienced leadership expert, coach, strategist, and speaker.
So, what could be better than Karalyn Brownโs mum's shortbreads this celebratory season? It's a hard call but we reckon we might have made it with our treasure trove full of Christmas career goodies and job search cheer.
We're kicking off our shoes this week and leaving you with some final Christmas job search tips.
Our top 5 in fact.
So if you absolutely have to look for a job during the festive season, come join us today and we'll set you up for success in 2021.
Job Search in Australia? Career Guidance? Ask us Anything? Your Virtual Job Search Coach (es). We are all these things and more for you today.
So if you have questions, Karalyn Brown and I will do our best to answer these - drawing from our combined 20+ years of experience helping people find jobs. Plus we bring you real-life success stories, anecdotes, and insights from over 180+ consecutive shows this year on #careercarepackage.
2020 called and wants its inertia back. Is it time for a reset after a rethink of your priorities and what you actually enjoyed? Forced or not - if anything else 2020 has made us all pause and take stock of our careers.
So today at 3pm we're delighted to be interviewing Michelle Gibbings.
Michelle is a Workplace Expert, Global Keynote Speaker and Author - helping people realise their leadership potential and build great careers.
Karalyn Brown and I will be digging into the lessons from her book Career Leap, so you can make the great leap you need to into something amazing next year.
Ever wondered why some people et a job using LinkedIn - and you do not. Today Karalyn Brown and I are getting tips from a top digital marketer and career coach, Stuart Little.
What can you do to make your profile stand out?
What do recruiters look for on LinkedIn?
How do you create a network of advocates who can help you find a job?
2021 will thank you for this! Why? Because in this #CareerCarePackage we have a special gift for anyone who's felt or been stuck or stalled in 2020.
Pretty much all of us, right?
Meet Warren James.
He's going to talk to us about his book Further Faster: The Ultimate Guide To Accelerating Your Career.
Can't wait to get some supercharge tips, on how to kick start, re-start or just start a journey towards a successful and fulfilling career.
Is resilience your new superpower? We hear so much about how important it is to be resilient - especially after the year that we've all had. Yet there are many myths and misconceptions about what this means. Does it mean containing your emotions? Does it mean working with your emotions? Is it all about how quickly you can bounce back?
On #CareerCarePackage we're delighted to be talking to Kathryn Jackson (FCIPD, Senior EIA, FRSA) Jackson - author of Resilience at Work - Practical Tools for Career Success.
Karalyn Brown and I are going to be unpacking the true meaning of resilience and how we all can inject a dose of it to supercharge our 2021 efforts towards both bounce back and career success.
Ask Us Anything | Job Search in Australia | Virtual Job Search Coach - today is the day when we take on any job search question you can throw at us and have a red hot go at answering it.
How to ace an interview with recruiter interview tips. Today Karalyn Brown and I are delighted to bring to the #CareerCarePackage mic Angela Millar
Angela comes from a people and culture background with 20+ years' experience in recruitment and internal HR and recruitment roles - and now she coaches people to get their dream roles.
We'll be talking all things interview and job seeking tips and getting her wisdom from the massive number of people she's seen throughout her career.
You've done it in interview?
Angela's probably seen it.
You've been asked it?
Angela will know why.
Life-changing? Really? I hear you say? Isn't that claim a little over the top? We don't think so. What we routinely find is that our clients always talk about what they want first, and what the employer wants second - often resulting in them missing out on the job they want, because the employer does not see the match immediately, or at all!
So today, we're delighted to be talking to Thai Ngo -super experienced career coach on how to align your skills to what an employer wants - a small tweak, but one that could make the biggest difference to your job search (and career) success.
Delighted to welcome back India's finest corporate comedian to the #CareerCarePackage microphone to entertain us with his observations of Covid corporate and career shenanigans. Hello, again Vikram Poddar. Is it OK to laugh now? We've decided yes - because we could all use a bit of a giggle right now.
If Covid has left you with a major rethink of your career priorities, you're not alone. I for one have changed my whole thought process on what I want to do every day. Today's sesh is for you if you're not sure how to think about what happened and what to do next.
We're so delighted to welcome the Founder and CEO of Career Money Life, Sandy Hutchison. We're talking what you can do to set yourself up for job search and career success in 2021.
If you have an interview coming up - listen up.
We have something very special for you.
Today we bring you Career Coach Dre McLaughlin who specialises in helping sales people win jobs in the shortest time possible.
We dig deep into what it really takes to sell yourself to stand out from the crowd and succeed.

We talk so much about the right mindset and its relationship to your success.
But I reckon you only know you've been in a funk - many moons post that funk, which is not that helpful.
So this #careercarepackage where we play the mindset magic card game to hack our confidence (in a good way) will be a cracker.
So happy to be talking to Anita van Rooyen - Chief Confidence Hacker with Naishadh Gadani at 3pm today.
Let's find a new way to get that injection of confidence your life deserves right now.
We're delighted today to be interviewing Rob Feinstein - Author of Launched: Start Your Career Right after College, Even During a Pandemic.
It's hard enough finding a job just after you graduate at the best of times - let alone when most of the world has shut down or slowed down.
But it can be done, and we're going to discuss the best tips and strategies that you can use to put your best foot forward.

Today on #careercarepackage we are tackling an important and timely topic: ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐น๐ณ-๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ
We all want to be accepted by others - whether it's about our careers, how much money we have, how many houses we have built, where our kids study, which car do we drive and more.
But, it's difficult to accept ourselves. If I talk about myself, I have often struggled to accept the flaws or imperfections and sometimes success too!

The recession Australia had to have in the early 1990โs, the Dot Com bubble and bust, 9/11, the GFC and now the glorious mess that is Covid-19 โ I am sure Iโve missed a few other economic slaps and whacks that have happened during the period The Australian Turntable Company has been in operation.
Thatโs Karalyn Brown and I are delighted to bring Founder of Australian Turntables Paul Chapman onto Career Care Package and shine the spotlight on his experience.
This is a business based in the Victorian town of Bendigo.
Theyโve not only survived what the world has tossed at them, but thrived.
That's a bl**dy good question isn't it, and one we are digging into on #CareerCarePackage. Many say "losing my identity" when they talk about job loss. But emotions people experience are more tumultuous than just wondering what you should call yourself you are out looking for work.
When researching an article around outplacement, we heard career counselors tell stories of men who had lost their job, but dressed up every day to go into their office.
They pretended to go to work because they were too ashamed to talk about what happened.
When I was made redundant, I felt stuck and in chaos.
I did not know what I wanted to do next. But I lost so much confidence I did not think I was worthy of being hired again.
You could say those men associate so strongly with their job - "you think you are only worthy if you have your job title."
Or for me "you don't know the right job for you."
These are questions of identity.
It will be immensely useful to discuss the range of emotions you could feel when you lose your job and explore helpful strategies so you can make some moves forward.
Joining us for a fascinating discussion are Counsellor Bimba Chavan and career coach Ramya Sivakumar Bala.
So I'm not sure if languaging is a verb or not, but what I do know is that we don't have great ways to describe our feelings. We say "I'm anxious." We say "I'm sad." We say "I feel depressed." And then typically we leave it for the other person to understand exactly what that means.
And often because we're not that great at dealing with other's emotional discomfort (or perhaps we're too self-focused) that's where the conversation ends.
Why am I mentioning this?
Well, without us using a fuller description - we're missing a great opportunity for others to connect with what we're feeling - be able to better understand that feeling, and help us if they can.
From a job search perspective, this means we miss the opportunity to build a better support network.
Today we have a very special guest on #CareerCarePackage #LinkedInLive.
Meet Karen Williams
Karen is a leadership trainer, coach, speaker, and author.
Among the many fascinating things she's done is facilitate conversations between people who had offended against the law and the victims of those crimes.
Definitely a conversation where languaging is critical.

This week on #CareerCarePackage weโre celebrating 100 shows and inviting guests to talk about optimism. Optimism is something we all could use right now. Being optimistic is linked to so many positive outcomes.
We like to think of our show as being a #hoptimistic project.
Hoptimism = hope + optimism.
Karalyn Brown and Naishadh Gadani started as we wanted to bring hope at a really dark time.
But we did not know what would come out of it. What has come out of it is optimism and insights for our audience.
Our audience have made valuable connections with each other โ some have found jobs.
Our guests have also networked with each other. Some have gone onto other podcasts and broadcasts.
Itโs been super delightful to see people from all over the world watch the show โ from India, France, the US, and Israel.
So join us this week as we bring you a group of special guests.

This #LinkedInLive #CareerCarePackage is dedicated to all my professional female friends who take on too much - and still think they're not doing enough.
It's a deep-rooted and massive problem.
We're going to unpack the connection between confidence and leadership and a whole lot more with Vineti Anand.
Vineti is Founder of Change Window, a consultancy dedicated to helping women build leadership skills and live with certainty and control in all areas of their life.
Well if youโve watched us before, we talk a lot about portfolio careers โ and how we all will need to pay attention to our brands, develop a digital presence and be ready to adapt to opportunities as they present.
Weโre keen to discover how Tara has set herself up to do this and to attract clients from across the globe.
Weโre also sure sheโll have some expert insights into how to navigate cross-cultural differences.
We're chatting to Ram Pattabiraman who has a fascinating story about landing his first opportunity in Australia, and how he moved from corporate to consulting and Sangeeta Mulchandani. Sangeeta has had a successful corporate career, studied entrepreneurship and has founded her own startup.
But can you learn empathy?
Does it take different forms?
Can you be kind in deeds but not in words?
Can you even demonstrate empathy and be effective without really understanding the other person?
Empathy has strong links to leadership, communication and therefore career success.
This is what we're going to be talking about today with Daniel Murray, the CEO of Empathic Consulting.

Today on #CareerCarePackage #LinkedInLive in the midst of all the bad Covid news, where we know people are fearful about jobs, we're talking to Vidhita Jain about her career setbacks and bounce backs.
She came from India - facing the usual barricade of no local experience, and needed to rebuild her career in recruitment.
Now with a Covid-led redundancy, she's volunteering her skills with Jobs For Australia - redefining herself and repositioning to take the next step.
I have been wearing informal and casual clothing since the lock-down. Now my usual zoom outfit is a nice t-shirt and jeans. This is me and has always been me - much to the eye-rolling of my more stylish friends.
If given the choice between the newsreader outfit and full corporate rig - I'd do newsreader every day.
However, I do recognize the importance of the right clothes.
The first reason is that we are such visual people, and if interviewers see you looking the part they can imagine you in the part and don't need to constantly make a cognitive leap to think of you in the part.
The second reason comes down to how you feel when you put a professional outfit on. I know that if I look credible, I feel credible and this can give me a confidence boost.
Our guest on #CareerCarePackage is Jodie Tuckwell-Knight
She's the CEO of Ready Set - a not for profit providing professional attire to give disadvantaged job seekers the best possible chance in their job search.
Wondering what skills you should develop for the future - where work will be more casualised and were we're heading towards portfolio careers? It's a big question because we're not talking things like coding or technical skills you can acquire by training. Well, wonder no more.
Today on #careercarepackage #linkedinlive we're talking employability skills with Jason Brown.
Jason is currently a Lecturer in Careers and Employability Learning with Latrobe University and has spent many years steeped in research around employability skills.
We're doing a deep dive into this research to help you prepare for a future where the only certainty is that it will be volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.
Weโre meeting two inspirational start-up Founders, Aqeel Camal and Ali Noura.
Aqeel is Founder of Futures Collective โ an organisation empowering young people with skills such as emotional intelligence, adaptability and courage.
Ali is Co-Founder of Bridging Us โ a social enterprise connecting young people and decision-makers to co-design solutions to community problems together.
Why am I throwing down this challenge?
I truly believe there is no such thing as job security โ no matter how secure you feel.
Some of the skills you need to thrive right now are skills such as curiosity, being the bridge between a problem and a solution, and a desire to be completely accountable for results.

Tonight we're talking to leadership, executive and career coach Sunitha Narayanan on unlocking your inner direction, that sense that we all have of knowing what's next - and we're doing it in a different way with the power of play.
Sunitha is joining us all the way from Ohio.
We truly are in a global community and I am so glad she's joining us.
The wonder technique.....the name itself sounds great, doesn't it? It alone takes some of the anxiety out of making change. So, what if making a career (or life) change was exciting, not fear-inducing? This is what we're talking about today on #CareerCarePackage #LinkedInLive.
The tricky thing about making change is the fear of change is usually buried. That means often we don't realise that our reactions or in-actions are fear-based. We're really terrific at rationalising these things. You might say things like "I'm not qualified", "I'm not ready", "I'm not smart at that", or point out why others need to change, not you.
Today we're chatting to David Hennessey The WONDER Technique - who is the developer of the wonder technique, a holistic approach to help you make life changes.
If you're looking for a new job in this crazy economy you'll hear all the time - why not look at a startup?
But what is it really like to join a company where the future is uncertain, and the Founder blessed with that certain kind of madness that helps them succeed?
Are you really the right person to join what might be a crazy ride? And if so what are the rewards?
Today we're talking to Michelle Ha, Talent Acquisition Partner at Pexa - a company providing a revolutionary digital platform for property exchange.
As much as we want to deny it, the "gig" economy is here. Covid-19 has accelerated changes we've already seen in the market - automation, casualisation, part-time work, and the like.
You and I are not competing in Australia anymore. Our competition could be on Upwork, LinkedIn, Freelancer, and a myriad of other similar sites.
So how do you stand out, in a world where talent seems cheap and you're easily seen as a commodity - and what does personal "branding" mean in this world anyway?
On our next #CareerCarePackage #LinkedInLive, we're talking to Anand Tamboli.
Anand is a speaker, author, advisor on AI and has just released a book - You 3.0: A powerful strategy to achieve professional goals with self-discovery and personal branding.
Today on we're meeting entrepreneur/business strategist/marketing consultant Lira Priyadarsani.
She's an expert in helping people unlock both sides of their brains to unleash both creativity and logic to make the best possible strategic decisions.
We're going to dig into just how she does this, because we think/believe/know that this can help you make a good decision about your next career move.

Karalyn Brown and I are hosting a special #linkedinlive today with Jason Alba, Product Manager.
We all had difficult conversations - with family, partners, colleagues and managers. We also know it takes courage and conviction to hold difficult conversations.
In today's LinkedIn Live, we are unpacking the art of having difficult conversation.
Imposter Syndrome is an insidious syndrome. Why insidious I hear you ask?
a) Because we often don't know we have it.
b) Because without knowing we have it - having it stops us from trying stuff.
c) It's a daily battle for many of us even if we know we have it, to get over it.
d) When we realise we suffer from it, it becomes obvious how many opportunities we've talked ourselves out of, or inadvertently, not even aimed towards.
e) That can lead to a whole new round of anxiety.
So today we're talking to Chandell Labbozzetta
Chandell is the CoFounder of Life Puzzle, and helps managers become vibrant, successful and fulfilled.
In recent interview on the ABC's Home Delivery where Julia Zemiro asked Atlassian Co-Founder, Scott Farquar whether, despite all that was happening in the world, he was optimistic. He looked at her as if she was slightly mad. It was almost like "Why wouldn't I be?"
Which in the words of Carrie Bradshaw, got us thinking.....
Atlassian achieved a billion-dollar listing.
What came first, the optimism or the success?
Today we're discussing this very topic on #CareerCarePackage with the Founder of the Centre for Optimism - Victor Perton
We're discussing the benefits of optimism, and how to stay optimistic when your world seems to be closing in during Covid-19.
The majority of large employers and recruitment consultants use an ATS. They use them to screen the deluge of applicants โ using an algorithm dividing strong applicants from the weak.
Some experts assert that over 75% resumes never actually hit human eyes.
This is what weโre discussing today with career coach and recruiter Olga Barrett.
Hereโs what weโre covering:
What is an applicant tracking system?
Why do employers use them?
How do applicant tracking systems work?
How can you tell if a recruiter/employer is using an ATS?
Can you set your resume up to beat the bots?
Do you really need to re-write your resume every time you apply for a job?
What happens when you include tables, images and fancy fonts on your resume?
To have a mentor is a true blessing. My mentors have consistently provided confidence and courage to continue my path. They've graciously listened, guided and mentored without any favour.
We all know a mentor can help you secure more money, find a new job, get a promotion, or your happiness in your career and life. So why doesn't everyone have one?
The bottom line is people achieve more success with mentors, and it is only when you have one, do you realise the benefits.
So today we're lifting up the curtains on the role of mentors and asking - Jon Hollenberg - Web Design - owner of Five by Five Design, and a successful business owner, about the role of mentors in his life.
We all have experienced uncertainty and chaos in last three-months - in life, career and business.
We all have introspected deeply about our careers and jobs. It's time to rethink about our career in the ever changing future of work.
Today on #CareerCarePackage #LinkedInLive Karalyn Brown and I are meeting Futurist and Keynote Speaker โ Steve Sammartino.
Steve regularly talks on the future of work, and how you can set yourself up to thrive, not just survive during these times.
Vikram Poddar changed his career from investment banking to comedy.
We're talking to him about what it really takes to succeed in two intensely competitive industries at the opposite end of the employment spectrum, how he made the transition and what he learned about himself along the way.
Ever been offered a job and felt for some reason it was the wrong choice? Maybe you started and did not feel welcome. If you're like me, you think it might be something you're doing wrong.
However.
There's a good chance it's not.
What you're experiencing is adding up to the sum total of a number of small missteps an employer may be making around recruiting you and settling you in - which means among other things, you don't feel accepted or like you belong.
Today we're talking employee attachment with Anthony Sork. He is an expert on employee attachment and detachment.
Knowing our strengths enables us to propel further - in career, business and life!
Meet Shane Hatton.
Shane Hatton is a communication expert, trainer and speaker.
His background is in strengths-based coaching.
Weโre going to ask him questions on amplifying your impact, so instead of just informing people in presentations, meetings and interviews โ you influence and inspire them.
Another #careercarepackage to brighten up your day - Naishadh and Karalyn tackle the toughest of questions with wit and charm and just a little bit of common sense. We do these every Friday, so come join us!
We're saddling up to talk transformation with someone who has done something remarkable.
Meet Sarah Taylor. 10 years ago she found herself single and an obese 40-year-old, who then made the choice to try to turn her life around.
She found bodybuilding as a way to do this and went on not only to change her body and mindset in the process, but to win 21 world bodybuilding championship titles internationally.
Now Sarah has used what she's learned in her professional career to turn around a well known Melbourne software startup company and become the COO (and CTO) a few months after starting. Now she runs the day to day activities of the company.
Looking for a job using LinkedIn and following the standard advice about how liking, sharing and commenting will put you on the radar of recruiters and employers. There's so much of this out there.
It's great to network and support each other - and you can definitely follow up that with a connection request.
But here's the thing - and it's what most LinkedIn coaches won't tell you.
It's super easy to think you're making progress towards a job, when in reality you can be sucked into time-wasting on the platform.
Today we're tough love talking on this, bringing you the wisdom of Melanie Colling - Empowering Leaders through Connection.
Melanie a collaboration expert and Founder of Experts on Air.
We're discussing ways you can really stand out and go direct to decision-makers.
Master this skill. Cut down the time you spend on LinkedIn and amp up the efficiency of your job search.
4887 - yes you read that number correctly. Today on #careercarepackage #LinkedInLive we're asking interview coach and ex-recruiter Narmie Thambipillay about what she learned about job seekers from interviewing 4887 candidates.
We give you the insider's insights (say that 10 times fast) about what's really going on from someone who can make or put the brakes on your access to your dream job.
So did you know you can use lessons learned from the study of linguistics to supercharge your success rate in finding a job? What's linguistics I hear you ask?
Meet Anamika Sharma. Anamika is a linguistics expert and entrepreneur.
This is a fascinating discussion.
We'll talk about reading between the lines of job advertisements. After you understand the real meaning of words, you'll better understand what you can actually say to make you stand out.
We'll also be discussing how to research organisations to understand the values communicated in their language, so you can write with more impact and effectively communicate your fit.
Then we'll talk on nuances in language in an interview, so you can better understand what is being asked in a question.
In all the advice you'll receive around your job search, nobody has tackled this topic this way.
Today we've got Steve Dalton on #LinkedInLive #CareerCarePackage. He is Author of The 2 Hour Job Search. ย If you're looking for a job and want to set yourself up with a proven successful strategy, that you can develop in just 2 hours.
