This is an interview with Martin Plaut. He has written numerous books on African politics, culture and history. In this interview he talks about the century long history of voting rights for black South Africans, the contributions of Africans to both world wars, the current relationship between the ANC and the world wide anti-apartheid campagain and the effect of Jeremy Corbyn on the Labour Party in the UK.

Martin was born in South Africa in May 1950, he studied at UCT and Wits, before going on to do an MA at the University of Warwick. In 1984 he joined the BBC, working primarily on Africa. For two years he was an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
