This is Small Screen Film Club. It's pretty much like a book club, but rather than discussing books, we talk about films. This is an official Small Screen podcast.
Small Screen's Film Club is back after a very long hiatus! On this week's big return, Edward Lauder and Alessia Armenise talk about Whodunits, namely See How They Run and the BBC One series, And Then There Were None. We'll be chatting about what we thought of the movie and TV series, Agatha Christie, and deciding whether they're worth checking out. Could Alessia finally be a fan of the Whodunit genre? Maybe...
Be sure to check us out on our socials. You'll find us everywhere @SmallScreenCo.
Also, if you liked this episode, please give us a five-star rating, wherever you're listening!

Oscar-nominated A Star Is Born is coming back to cinemas with more stuff crammed in. Extra songs, extra scenes, extra Bradley Cooper and extra Lady Gaga. It didn't win the Best Picture Oscar, but Shallow won Best Song on the night, and Alessia and Edward thought it would be a good idea to discuss the movie on this week's episode of Small Screen's Film Club. Hello and welcome to a very special episode of Small Screen Film Club. Alessia and I spent some time thinking how could we get to turn what is essentially a recorded film discussion group which just involves ourselves into a fully-fledged film club with many people expressing their views on a particular film. The answer was simple, organise a live screening of a movie.
Thankfully, the Genesis Cinema very kindly agreed to let us host our very first live event at their wonderful cinema in Whitechapel in East London. The film we decided to show was Brigsby Bear which Kyle Mooney both wrote and starred in.
A big thank you goes out to Genesis Cinema for helping us with this event, and London Fields Radio for giving us a platform on which to do our show.

Hello, and welcome back to Small Screen Film Club. On this week’s episode, Alessia and I discuss Sebastián Lelio's A Fantastic Woman, which won the Oscar for the best foreign film at the Oscars. Daniela Vega is the led in this beautiful and tragic movie, but is her performance alone enough to warrant the Oscar win, or is the film as fantastic as the critics have led us to believe? Listen to find out. Please, enjoy.

Hello, and welcome back to Small Screen Film Club. Pan's Labyrinth, Cronos, The Devil's Backbone, Crimson Peak, Pacific Rim, Hellboy, Hellboy 2... And now, The Shape of Water. On this week’s episode, Alessia and I decided to discuss Guillermo Del Toro’s Oscar-nominated film (and now Oscar-winning film), The Shape of Water. Did it enchant us as it did so many other people? Is it worthy of the Oscar nomination (and win)? Is it Guillermo's best film to date? Listen to find out.
We also had the great pleasure of interviewing filmmaker Daniel Alexander Kershaw who spoke to us about his movie, Midwinter. Looking forward to seeing the final product.
Please, enjoy.

Hello, and welcome back to Small Screen’s Film Club. On this week’s episode, Alessia and I decided to discuss Luca Guadagnino’s Oscar-nominated film, Call Me By Your Name. Not only was it only literally everybody’s films of the year list (we only watched it recently so it didn’t feature on ours), it also features Oscar-nominated performances from both Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet. But does the film live up to the incredible hype? Listen to find out. Please, enjoy.

Man vs Woman. Billy Jean King vs Bobby Riggs. Emma Stone vs Steve Carell. Edward vs Alessia. OK, that’s enough of that. On this week’s episode, we focus on Battle of the Sexes which sees Emma Stone play Billy Jean King and Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs. What did we think of the movie? Listen to the episode to find out.

Small Screen’s Film Club’s After-Halloween Special - The Witch & It Follows
OK, so Halloween is over, but that doesn’t mean that we have to stop watching horror movies. The things that go bump in the night don’t only come around once a year and many of us enjoy scaring ourselves silly by watching terrifying movies all year round. So we said screw it and decided to dedicate this week’s episode to horror movies, even though Halloween has passed. The movies in question are Robert Eggers’ The Witch and David Robert Mitchell’s It Follows.
Listen to our thoughts on these horror movies, if you dare. MUHAHAHAHA!
