Welcome to episode 96 of Shoot Edit Chat Repeat, the podcast for people photographers. Hosted by two leading UK portrait photographers, Vicki Knights & Eddie Judd.
This week we have our very own Eddie chatting to you about all things editing.
Eddie shares her advice on finding your style and the importance of a good workflow. She shares her favourite shortcuts and gives you some essential backing up advice.
Eddie started her obsession with editing in her home darkroom at 16 years old. This led to the colour darkrooms during her university education in photography. She learnt how to recognise great imagery and keep organised systems in her career as a picture editor at magazines.
Having a good workflow and a consistent style was a high priority when she became a full-time photographer and through trial and error, she's here to pass on her workflow wisdom.
You can book onto one of her ‘quick fixes’ here where, via zoom, she can help you with workflow/presets or anything else you are stuck with in Lightroom. These are currently 25% off!

This week we chat to UK wedding photographer, Sam Docker. Since 2012, Sam has shot 300+ weddings worldwide and also loves training other photographers and helping them to run a successful wedding photography business.
With all of the rescheduled weddings from 2020 going back in the diary, 2021 has been the busiest year ever for many wedding photographers. We've heard many photographers saying they are physically and mentally exhausted.
We chat to Sam all about finding that elusive perfect balance in our businesses and lives.
We talk about how to say no, how to charge more, and why it's important that photographers keep fit in order to keep up with the physical challenges of the job.
It's a brilliant chat and we think you're going to take so much from it.
Warning, there's a bit of salty language during the chat, so pop your headphones in if there are little ears around!

Welcome to episode 75 of Shoot Edit Chat Repeat, the podcast for people photographers. Hosted by two leading UK portrait photographers, Vicki Knights & Eddie Judd. We felt like we all needed a bit of cheering up at the moment, so in this episode we're chatting to the hilarious Sarah Krieg and we promise you some LOL's! Sarah is a talented film-maker and photographer based in sunny California, who's colourful work never fails to put a smile on our faces. We talk to Sarah about how she suggests we can all infuse a little bit more joy into our work, how she gets to work with some impressive brands, oh and a few chats about nudist colonies, fannies (the US version!) and satan....you probably need to listen to understand! Just a little warning, there is some rather fruity language in this episode right from the start of the interview, so perhaps put your headphones in if you have little ears around. We know you're all going to love Sarah as much as we do! Watch some of Sarah's fab videos here And find out more about Sarah and her work here If you join us as a patron, for just $5 a month, you'll get access the extra juicy questions that we put to Sarah, including what she shoots with and her most embarassing story. This is a very actionable episode, so make sure you have your notebook and pen at the ready!
Just a quick warning, there is a bit of bad language (fairly mild!) in the intro (naughty Eddie!). But we promise it won't ruin your enjoyment of the chat....Carolina sounds perfect!
Carolina talks to us all about:
how to plan our boards on Pinterest to attract clients
what type of pins perform best on Pinterest
whether we should be pinning other photographers work or not

should we be showing ourselves on our Instagram feeds? And should be have a professional shoot ourselves?
is it ever ok to buy followers? (it was a strong no from Sam in case you're wondering!)

You're in for a treat this week! We're chatting to Atlanta-based child photographer, Elizabeth Blank, all about changing direction in your photography business.
We first met Elizabeth in 2018 at the ClickAway convention in Florida, and were lucky enough to get to interview her a few weeks ago at ClickAway in California.
In the last couple of years, Elizabeth has transitioned from running a busy lifestyle family photography business, to shooting beautiful underwater photos of children.
We chat to her all about the following:
the reasons she made the transition from family photography to underwater photography
how going under water made her fall in love with photography again
tips for photographers who are looking to change direction
why it's important to give back to your community
There are lots of giggles throughout (which may be slightly Prosecco-fuelled!) and we know you're going to fall in love with Elizabeth as much as we have.

We have not one brilliant guest for you this week, but 3!
They have all been guests on the podcast before so we get straight into the juicy stuff and get some hugely helpful tips from them.
First up was Melissa Love from The Design Space. Melissa told us how to make our websites into marketing machines, who doesn’t want that!

Then we opened up questions to our lovely audience. So many gems of advice given from our panel that you must listen to.
We also grabbed Coaching Emily up from the audience to answer a question about being addicted to mobile phones, thank you Emily for letting us put you on the spot!

We have branding expert Clare Yarwood-White on the show today to talk to us all about the secrets of personal branding.
Clare had a successful career in the world of advertising before founding her high-end wedding jewellery business, and now she runs Opal & Co, a brilliant brand consultancy for creative businesses.
We wanted to talk to Clare all about personal branding as we've had a lot of questions about this area.
We chat about the following:
what is personal branding photography and how it can elevate your brand
whether it's important for photographers & entrepreneurs to show more of themselves in their branding, and tips on how to do this
whether Clare has noticed a shift to clients showing more of themselves in their branding
how Clare advises clients to find the right photographer to work with
Clare's top tips for writing copy creatively. And we may have digressed a bit here to chat about why Clare is teaching her kids to swear!
All of this and lots more, with a few random tangents about yoga, the Bros documentary and Marie Kondo!
Although this episode has an E rating, it's all very clean until 50 mins in... the air does turn a little blue after this point so you may want to pop your earphones in if you have little ones around!

We have an info-packed episode for you this week. We're chatting with digital marketing expert, Kay Peacey, all about how you can use Facebook to grow your business. Organic reach (aka you don’t pay for it) for Facebook business pages got very squished in 2018. Kay tells us what we can do about it that isn't throwing in the towel and storming off muttering about "Bloody Facebook!” The biggest takeaway…. step away from the tempting blue 'Boost' button of doomed tenners that you’ve been chucking blindly at Facebook, and get smarter about the paid ads you run. Turns out there’s a stack of great tech behind the scenes. And once you know where to look and how to use it, you too can unleash the magic of retargeting (that thing where the dress you looked at on ASOS follows you round the internet). Listen and learn - there’s a whole lot you didn’t even know you didn’t know about Facebook Ads! Here are some of the links that Kay mentions during the chat.... The Facebook Newsfeed blog post - in which Kay outlines what you can do to help your page posts show in newsfeeds without paying for it The Don’t Panic About GDPR blog post - in which Kay tells you how hard it is to actually get busted for GDPR non-compliance and talks you down from the ledge The Free Facebook Pixel Tutorial - in which you can sign up to get access to the ridiculously easy and fast pixel tutorial and take your first and most important step on the road to smarter ads The Smarter Facebook Ads course - in which Kay and Melissa steer their students safely through the scary but oh-so-worth it world of Facebook and Instagram ads. We recorded this week's episode at the Farmer's Market in Brighton, hosted by the Photography Farm.
In this episode we chat to Yorkshire based husband & wife team, the lovely Jo & James Melia (known as MeliaMelia).
When we saw that Jo & James were speaking at the show, we were keen to book them for an interview as their style of photography is wild and raw and quite different to many of the other family photographers we have interviewed so far.
We chat about lots of things including:
How they dealt with their first experience of being trolled recently
How they work together as a team
How they photograph children in a wild and free way
Why they've just switched from Canon to Sony
How they've grown their Instagram following to over 12k
