Join me with my very special guest Preach Muzak, to discuss his latest mixtape “The Rising Trilogy vol. 1”

"Preach has the tone and resonance that can be heard on the radio as well as go viral through the web all the while not steering to far away from the hearts and souls of true music lovers. Through his music you find a man in love with life and appreciative of the trials and tribulations endured by those in our history books, those most likely to follow in his footsteps, and those most likely to look up and say “I want to be just like Preach”. With tracks like “Eighty Six”, “Pray”, and “Heaven to Hell” you are taken in to the true reality of the inner city neighborhood. You are taken in to the drugs, projects, violence, and the struggle to make it out alive. You are given a lesson on life and the battles that have been fought to get us to where we are today as well as the role and influence of politics on the lives to afraid or unwilling to understand it. Most importantly you are sat down and given a lesson on true struggles endured by real individuals on a daily basis.

Many artists talk about the dreams and aspirations of this money hungry population, however few know first-hand what it’s like to be in this predicament yet remain determined to see the light at the end of the tunnel."

Join me with my very special guest

Leah Albright-Byrd Executive Director & Founder of Bridget's Dream. We discuss her passion to combat and help victims of sexual exploitation.

A nationally known survivor-activist, consultant and trainer in the fight against child sex-trafficking. Her strong voice and unwavering commitment to “help victims become survivors and learn to dream again” inspires people to wage war against social injustice.

"The sex-trafficking of children and youth in the United States CAN BE PREVENTED! Together, we must educate, empower, and equip our youth so that they never experience the ravishing effects of sex-trafficking. This is how we prevent!"

"Direct intervention in the lives of those who have been commercially sexually exploited is the first step towards healing & transformation. We reach victims directly and provide crisis care to those looking to escape. This is how we INTERVENE!"

Restoration is a long-term journey that requires discovery of meaning and purpose beyond the ravishing effects of the trauma inflicted through exploitation. Survivors need loving trauma-informed care so that they can experience healing!

Join me and my very special guest documentary film maker and CEO of  Rasha Entertainment   Rahiem Shabazz  to discuss his latest film

Elementary Genocide: “From Primary to Penitentiary” exposes the socially engineered mechanism created by our government and utilizing the public school system to label elementary aged African American males as work for hire targets within the US penal system. Many refuse to believe there is a corporate attack on the minds and productivity of Black youth through intercepting their educational, economical and social development, and resulting in statistically funneling them through the revolving doors of the criminal justice system. Elementary Genocide confirms this theory and seeks to educate parents, teachers and families, so that we can reclaim our young men and ensure the future of our community.

Sherry Hicks will talk about her book, A Shadowed Past, on Melinda Talks.

“The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.”Steve Maraboli A dysfunctional family fails to perform the tasks that fulfill the purpose of the family or only manages to perform them using harmful or counter-productive methods. Counter-productive actions are repeated again and again until they become an instrinic part of the system. Thus, A Shadowed Past is a book of short poetry that I kept in my journal about my personal dysfunctional experiences in my life, my hurt, my thoughts, and hurtful places. I grew up in a dysfunctional environment and emotions were void. By embracing my writing as a therapuetic process, I can leave dysfunction behind in favor of creativity, love, flexibility, and happiness. More importantly, I can help others overcome the same plights that I encountered.

Dave Tolliver on Love, Life, Relationships, Fatherhood, & Responsibilities Of A Parent*  Blaqpavarotti Men At Large discovered by the late great Gerald Levert are the last of a dying breed! In 1992 Men At Large shocked the world with its self titled debut on the Atlantic Records label. Their first single "Use Me" became an instant radio hit inspiring B.E.T, to use it for a station jingle. They would go on to release 4 more singles from the cd. "You Me", "Umm Umm Good", "Would You Like to Dance", and the RnB Classic "So Alone" which made Billboard Hot 100 list and was radio's #1 song of the year in 1993. Traveling the world with its other 90's cohorts (Rude Boys, Shai, Silk, H-Town, Levert II, Next, etc)  they would leave each city with the reputation of being "Show Stoppers!" It didn't stop there in 1994 they released "One Size Fits All" gaining less success as the first but still garnering critical acclaim. Releasing 2 singles "Let's Talk About It" and "Holiday" top 10 and 20 respectively they continued to shock the world town by town. Being bred by Eddie and Gerald Levert gave these 2 an obvious advantage. As time moved on the duo would sever ties with the Levert camp only to find the next chapters not as plentiful as the beginning. Still riding off the success of its first 2 records the boys would continue to ride the rails of success as the people just couldn't get enough of the boys. In 1999 and 2007 they released "Love Struggle and Progress" and "Back on Top" doing mediocre numbers but plentiful on an independent level winning best group awards and independent video of the year nominations, only to lose to the great Kenny Rogers. As well as singing the men have appeared in over 23 stage plays, 7 movies and a host of judging, and hosting appearances across the country.

Sadiki Bakari is one of the preeminent visual lecturers of his generation and has created a three dimensional (literary, visual and audio) blueprint for our progeny. Armed with the ancestor’s primordial intelligence, he is able to invoke the genome of one’s DNA. His visual presentations bring forth a renewal of the spirit and cleansing of the soul. Bakari is also a fearless visionary, published author, columnist, people’s advocate and explosive spoken word artisan. His creativity and unique style of interfacing with the spirit and meta-information gives Sadiki the rare ability of seizing the moment and expanding the spiritual awareness of his audiences. “Often, there are those who are a little before their time. Some with open minds can slightly grasp the scope of a visionary, whose job it is not just to show you the future, but show you how to prevent the negative aspects of a probability of a future. Sadiki Bakari is one such visionary. If there were a male counterpart to the Mami Wata Sophias (oracle gazers), this brother is it. He uses the masculine mind/intellect to articulate a 3D picture of factual future formatting, right before our very eyes. He takes the technology that you only know as science-fiction and shows you how you are already in the future they told you was coming. Get his Books. See his lectures/presentations. He has something to share that will enlighten an aspect of your awareness.”   - Zia DeJan

He would have faced a lifetime of imprisonment See Stand Your Ground only works if you’re a citizen So that right isn’t his only whites benefit We are not legitimate that fact is definitive Don’t believe ask Marissa Alexander if it is To protect herself in her own home with her kids Fired a warning shot she got a 20 year sentencing Now that’s ridicules but all Black are witnesses Of the hatred in this nation that’s run by hypocrites Would the NRA have backed Trayvon? Would Fox news tell white folks if he gets off stay calm? We know the truth so I won’t go no further Cause Trayvon was found guilty of his own murder......
