I’m Balint and I help people looking to buy EV and hybrid cars with useful information from real owners, so that they can narrow down and decide which one is best for them.
When it was time to buy my first used car, a Prius, I read all the reviews I could find and watched all the videos on youtube on what to look out for before buying one. But I felt somewhat disappointed as there was a limited number of resources out there covering used Priuses. With all the limited information I knew on Priuses I bought our first Prius. Since then I bought another one and my brother-sister-in law as well.
When I was checking out a Prius to buy, one owner asked if I could come with him to check out a newer model he wanted to upgrade to, as he saw me going over his car meticulously.
I started the weekly podcast to share the acquired knowledge on used Priuses, to help others with information on the technology, the car and to talk with owners from around the world about their experience and the industry.
To help people who are looking to buy a used Prius, I've summarised my Prius experience with tons of information what to know about them as well as what to check before we buy one. You can find this detailed guide on www.reinverted.com/review
This was in July 2019. Since then, the podcast grew quick to include other ownership experiences as well so it was rebranded from Prius Podcast to ReInverted, to cover all sorts of used hybrid (mild, normal, plugin) and used EV cars as well.

A repurposed episode segment on a topic I think is important to get some separate information from a Toyota Expert. Peter the hybrid guy talks about the 2 urban myths whether a Gen2 Prius inverter could be killed by going fast with the car or a long period of time, or if towing could harm the inverter.

Our 2004 Prius is closing in on the magic odometer count of 299,999. It is great that not much had to be done in repair to the car but this odometer issue causes a dilemma to keep the car or sell it? Let’s go over what are our options.

In the past couple of weeks when I was writing my guest blog article on our Gen2 Priuses to green car congress (article link), the topic of EV button usage came to my mind. I have a story about someone using the EV button in a way that systematically killed the hybrid battery in his Prius.

When we bought our first used Prius, the 2004 for my wife, it came with summer tires that were old. So what did I do? Checked what tires are available in the OEM size of 195/55 R16. I was shocked of the prices! Turns out this size of tire is rare...

Jesse talks about his experience with the Prius and what killed his first two cars. These cars are not new, and likely the tires on them will be a few years old as well. Search for the 4 digit code on the tires such as "2315", meaning the tire was made in the 23rd week of 2015. If the tires are more than 5 years old, they should be changed. A new set of 195/55 R16 tires (factory size for the gen2 Prius in Europe) can be costly ($400-$700) due to its rare size. If they should be changed, you could negotiate a new set of tires or ask for a lower price.

I was always interested in cars. When it came to the point to buy my first one, I read all the reviews I could find and watched all the videos on youtube on what to look out for! But I was somewhat angry. There was a limited number of resources out there. Even though there are materials covering the Prius, I found them geared towards people who just heard about the car and wanted general information on its mpg and how is it to drive, instead of someone who is looking to buy one, needing practical information. When I was checking out cars to buy, one owner asked if I could come with him to check out a newer model he wanted to upgrade to, as he saw me going over his car meticulously.

We talk about the error code P0016 - what it means and how to detect what's need to be fixed.

We talk about why we choose to buy our fist hybrid and the 5 criteria we had for my wife's first car.
I had to disconnect my 12 volt battery as I saw sitting water in that space that I wanted to drain and clean up. I was not aware of the rubber plug that can be pushed out to drain that space...
So when I reconnected the 12 volt battery, I found that my driver's side automatic window function was disabled as a result. We talk about how to reset the function. This might also work with Gen3s.
