Whether it’s shame, social stigma, or misunderstanding, the topic of addiction to lust or pornography, masturbation, and orgasm “PMO” is something many people do not feel comfortable discussing, especially men. Unfortunately for some it’s a problematic area that’s causing destruction in their lives and distress in their relationships.
In this episode I’ll discuss my struggles with lust & PMO. I’ll also explain what lust addiction is (and isn’t) and share how I found both therapy & a 12 step program beneficial in my healing journey.
Lust & PMO can often serve as a way to numb unpleasant emotions, avoid reality, and provide validation. However, this form of escapism is temporary and can become a harmful coping mechanism that prevents you from addressing the underlying issues like unprocessed trauma, low self-worth, anxiety, and loneliness.
