“Mindset” has become such a buzzword in recent years to the point that it has become toxic. This toxic mindset culture shows up a lot in our online communities. Like any form of positive thinking that goes too far, it has become problematic because it ignores the real systemic oppression that many marginalized communities face. Can men be feminists? No, seriously, is there really a space for men in the feminist world? This is a conversation that usually leaves some of us passionately against men being feminists. Some of us are advocating that they can be. Others are left completely undecided. There's a lot to unpack in this conversation. Today, Meaghan Lamm discusses men feminism and whether it's possible that men can be true feminists or just female allies.
It takes people quite a bit of time and effort to learn critical thinking, especially if they were raised in a background that discourages asking questions. Born and raised in a Bible Belt, conservative, red state community that frowns upon those who ask questions or think differently from the crowd, Carrie Flynn grew up going with the flow to avoid the discomfort of disagreement and confrontation. Meeting the person who would become her husband gave her a wake-up call for her shift towards being more open minded and progressive – a transition that she continues to nurture to this day. She shares how she went through this transition in this conversation with Meghan Lamm. Pointing out some of the similarities in their experiences, they talk about the tendency of a person’s natural personality to shape their beliefs, the power of asking questions about the things around you and the importance of teaching yourself to question your beliefs.
Equal pay is still very much an issue across many industries in the business sector, even in an industry where we’re largely responsible for setting our own rates—the online industry. In this episode, Meaghan Lamm talks about equal pay in the online industry and how to make sure you’re walking your talk when it comes to paying contractors. She discusses how many international online contractors tend to make less just because they are from a country with a low cost of living. She taps into the ethical divide and the double standard that exists in this condition and how we, as an online business community, have the power to solve wage disparity between cultures.
It’s often hard to go against the values that you have grown with, but if you want to be truly free, you have both the power and responsibility to be true to who you are no matter what. Having been raised in a conservative, evangelical family and community, this shift was anything but easy for Sabrina Torres, a high-ticket sales and social media marketing specialist. For the longest time in her life, she had always considered herself to be a Republican, though she often saw the party’s policies to be at odds with who she is and what she represents. In this conversation with Meghan Lamm, Sabrina shares the turning points in her life that led her to become the free-thinking, independent, progressive womxn that she is now. Sabrina’s story illustrates the importance of owning who you are no matter what – something everybody ought to learn in this changing world.
Burnout is that wall that you hit when you cannot mentally, emotionally, or even physically handle any more stress. It has become so common that people are starting to consider it a normal part of daily life. And the more normalized it is, the harder it is to recognize and fix. Today, Meaghan Lamm talks about what burnout is, how it shows up in your life, and how to work through burnout to make life a little less stressful.
Spiritual psychology coach Alexie Foster grew up in a very conservative Christian home. Thus, her environment predisposed her to be pro-life or Republican. In this episode, Alexie chats with Meaghan Lamm about how her upbringing shaped her early political views and when she started to see a shift in her beliefs. She also discusses the importance and power of conversation, sharing some tips on having more productive conversations with your friends and family to learn from one another and share ideas in the process.
One of the most evident forms of patriarchy is the way women are always policed on how they act, most especially around being nice to the point that it has almost become a cultural necessity for us. The sad thing is how women unknowingly police each other of the same thing. In this episode, Meaghan Lamm tells you to forget about being nice and be yourself instead. She goes deep into the reality of being too nice in life and business and how it props up the patriarchy. Looking inside, Meaghan then reminds us of how showing up as our authentic selves changes the game.

What is hustle culture, exactly? In this episode, Meaghan Lamm talks about the underlying meaning of hustle culture in history and in current society. Learn where this phrase originated from, and the different transitions it went through, throughout history. Understand its core meaning in order to be enlightened on how it contributes to racism as a whole. Meaghan also explains why hustle culture should not be celebrated, especially during times of crisis. Being a part of systemic racism, understand the need to eradicate hustle culture in society as a step in improving the lives of every individual in all industries.
Words are powerful; they send a message about how we want to be perceived. When we describe ourselves as girl bosses, lady bosses, fempreneurs, mompreneurs, SHEEO and other such gendered leadership titles, it sends a rather negative message about female leadership. For one, it implies that we are doing really well “for a girl.” Is female leadership such a strange or unnatural thing that we need to qualify it with such gendered terms? In this episode, Meaghan Lamm tells us why such titles are problematic, how female leadership is usually viewed by patriarchal society and how it is portrayed by the media. It is time to change our perception of female leadership. Ungendering leadership titles is a good place to start.
Are you feeling inclined to treat yourself from time to time with bubble baths, manicures, chocolates and shopping sprees? As women, it seems perfectly natural for us to have these images in mind when we think of self-care. While there is certainly nothing wrong with having your hair or nails done, or even bingeing on fancy chocolates if that’s what you’re into, we must realize that this side of self-care is vacuous and superficial. The fact that we have to be constantly reminded to treat ourselves is very indicative of how we are socialized as women in patriarchal society. For self-care to truly become a radical feminist act, we have to understand what it really is. Putting yourself first as a woman is not all glitter and gold. We have to realize that true self-care is less Instagram-able than we fancy it to be. It’s about time we learn the ugly truth about self-care. Let Meaghan Lamm lead the way.
One of the most common phrases anyone in the online business circle has probably heard is "charge your worth." Although it seems to empower on the surface, this phrase actually speaks a lot about the way we tie our worth with money—a symptom of patriarchy. In this episode, Meaghan Lamm explores why you should stop charging your worth and, instead, build up the confidence you need to show up as your best self. She goes deep about why women tend to be not as confident as men and how this lack of confidence affects how we show up in our businesses. As inherently social creatures, human beings are biologically hardwired for social contact and relationships. As such, we generally want to be liked by our peers and family members, which is normal. However, for some people, it goes deeper down, and that want is replaced by a need. As subtle as it may be, there is a difference between wanting to be liked and needing to be liked. The word “inclusivity” has been thrown around everywhere these days. It’s more than just a buzz word, but what exactly does it mean? For Rhodesia Jackson, it simply means making sure that no one is excluded. However, it also means so much more than being included; it’s being celebrated. Rhodesia is a branding and web designer who works with feminist visionaries whose mission is to be more inclusive and diverse in their messaging, marketing, and company culture.
