In Contrast to Jesus’ temptation last week we see Judas falling prey to temptation this week. What does Jesus offer on the very night He was betrayed… His very body and bold for us a means of Grace for our salvation instituting the Lord’s Supper. Jesus exchanges our betrayal with His ultimate sacrifice so that all those in Christ Jesus might receive grace!

Romans 1:1-6 Bruce concludes our study on Christian obedience by focusing on God's grace and our apostleship.
First Peter 1:1-25 Bruce continues his series on Christian obedience. Today we find encouragement and guidance through the example of obedient followers of Jesus long ago in Rome.

The Gospel reading is six days before Passover and ends the day before Palm Sunday. The anointing beyond imagination is the anointing Jesus receives from Mary just as He enters Holy Week, beyond our imagination because it is an anointing unto death.

Bruce preaches on this portion of Paul's letter to the Christian community in Corinth. He refers to our "tents," our bodies, that wear out and do not last forever. Yet at the same time we are being renewed inwardly by the grace of God and love of Christ.

In this sermon, we will examine the destruction of Jerusalem in the 6th century BC, and the subsequent rebuilding of that great city set on a hill. We will be looking at Old Testament history from the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. We will relate that to Jesus’ first century instructions in the Sermon on the Mount. And we will discuss the concrete lessons in all this for Faith Lutheran in 2017. So this is a message that stretches across the ages.

Today's sermon reflects on the prophet's words of judgment as found in Isaiah 58.
Bruce concludes our month long focus on spiritual health and the way in which God blesses and sustains us with the Word, prayer, worship and rest. This rest is not like the rest we usually think of as we "get away from it all." The rest Jesus gives occurs in the "thick of it all."
Having preached on the Word and prayer, Bruce now moves on to the nature of Christian worship...what it is and what it is not. We learn from Jesus the significance of worship and how it was "his custom."
Bruce continues his series of messages on being spiritually strong and healthy. In this sermon, we hear of the importance of prayer... and praying the right way as Jesus taught.
Christians take time for the Word for the sake of their spiritual health and strength. Jesus tells us that it is not enough to hear the Word. We are to “do the Word” as his followers.
Bruce preaches on the significance of Jesus' birth and how Christmas came to be as we know it today.
On this Fourth and final Sunday in Advent, Bruce preaches on the witness of John the Baptist whose ministry reminds us of: The nearness of the kingdom, the necessity of repentance and the nobility of service.

Gospel Lesson: Matthew 1:18-25 Last week we learned of Mary's willing obedience to God's plan of salvation. This week we find out more about Joseph and his important role in the coming of Christ, the Word made flesh.
As we begin the season of Advent we remember Mary, the Mother of our Lord, and her response to the news from Gabriel that changed her life...and ours! Bruce preaches on this important message in today's sermon.
Bruce continues his sermon series on “Church and State” with today’s message. The Apostle Paul reminds us of certain things we must do as responsible citizens. He goes on to tell us that love is the reason we serve the Lord as citizens of His Kingdom.
The First Lesson: Psalm 1: 1-6 The Second Lesson: Romans 13: 1-10
Jesus teaches us that His Kingdom is not of this world. At the same time, the Word of God calls us to live faithfully in this world. How do we rightly understand what it means to be in the world but not of it? Martin Luther's understanding of the Two Kingdoms helps us in this regard as do the teachings of the Apostle Paul.
