Discussions between serving and veteran members of the armed forces. Topics include all things fitness, health and mindset.
Episode 007 was a great chat with professional MMA fighter and former Royal Marine, Martin ‘Stapes’ Stapleton (@stapes_50cal) It’s one the longest yet and to be honest could have gone on far longer. The time went so quick as we spoke about Stape’s operational tour history of Northern Island, Iraq and Afghanistan and how he got into MMA. We spoke about his career and how he’s now training fighters at SBG Rochdale, his strength and conditioning and also how he dealt with the blow of his last fight being cancelled 4 hours before the opening bell. It was a pleasure having him on so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. You can find Stapes and his gym on Instagram @stapes_50cal and @sbg_rochdale as well as his gyms new website coming soon www.sbgrochdale.co.uk https://www.instagram.com/stapes_50cal/ https://www.instagram.com/sbg_rochdale/ www.sbgrochdale.co.uk
Episode 006 is with an old buddy of mine from D coy 40 Commando. Daryl (Dry) and I, talk about how he struggled with the transition from the Marines to moving back home to Canada and going through a divorce and then joining the Canadian police force. How he's set up 'topless book club' (they read it but don't talk about the book) in his Kitchen! And how he puts himself through some pretty honking races to remember those who aren't with us today. Episode 005 of the Stoic Performance podcast we have Mark Lovell. A former Royal Marines commando who i had the pleasure of serving with at home and also abroad in Afghanistan. We talk about our time in Afghanistan and also how he's transitioned to civilian life. And he's not done too badly. From struggling academically throughout his life, he's shown that with hardwork and a drive to succeed, good things can happen. He no owns 4 Barber shops (almost 5) and a gym. You can find Mark on instagram @mdjlovell If you like the content please feel free to subscribe to the channel.
Had a great chat with an extremely knowledgable strength and conditioning coach Tim Hotchin. Owner of Crossfit Scunthorpe. We spoke about Tims career in professional and amateur team sports, what makes an elite level athlete, Crossfit and digressed into where we see MMA heading. If you're interested in S&C or just training for sport then there's some pearls of wisdom in this chat. You can find Tim on instagram @t.hotchin @battle.box.united @athlete.training.plan
Episode 3 of the Stoic Performance podcast we meet gym owner and former Royal Marine Ross Hanrahan. I had the pleasure (or misfortune 😉) of taking Ross through Royal Marines training back in 2011. We talked about his time in training, the hardship and camaraderie shared with his fellow recruits. The things they don't show you on the recruitment videos and how I viewed taking recruits through to earning their green beret. We also spoke about his career since leaving the marines to become a personal trainer and now gym owner for not one but two gyms. If you're thinking of joining the corps and would like more of an insight into what training is like then this is for you. You can find Ross on Instagram @ross.coaching Website: www.ross-coaching.com @stoic_performance_
In episode 002 of the Stoic Performance podcast, my guest is Michael Weetman. A former Paratrooper and now a strength and conditioning coach. We discuss some of our experiences in the military. The rivalry between Para's and Marines. Training both then and now, and also about over coming injuries.
Michael is an extremely knowledgeable coach with a very forward thinking way of coaching. It definitely brings out the best in his clients and athletes.

I hope you enjoy the podcast 😊
Welcome to the first episode of the Stoic Performance podcast. Our first guest is a man who endured ALL of Royal Marines training not once but twice!
He has developed an unbreakable mindset and will never give in. Even when a potentially life threatening illness gets it the way. There aren't too many cut from the same cloth as this man.
