In August 2020, NIDALA began recording the tracks for her debut EP ‘Colours of my People’ – a carbon neutral project aimed at creating reconciliation in all forms. Matt Sheers has been playing violin for more than two decades – he picked up the instrument for the first time when he was eight, learning classical violin before studying jazz for university at the Box Hill Institute. ORCHA emerged out of a desire to go beyond the parameters of tradition, and push the instrument into exciting, innovative territory.The latest single ‘ATLAS’, which released in April, is another taste from his forthcoming album. The song is a follow-up to his first two singles from the album; ‘Reverie’ released in in May 2019 and ‘Depths’ released in September 2019 and the culmination of two years and writing and recording. The album explores different states of mind such as isolation, joy and grief, focusing on the mysteries of the human experience, and the universe that ORCHA resides in. Melbourne-made, far north Queensland dreamin’ four-piece Minibikes have been soundtracking Australia’s endless summer since the late naughties. Their debut album For Woods or Trail, threw tasty hooks left, right and centre, nestling into the hearts of listeners both at home and abroad.Their first slice since was 2018’s ‘Magic Happens’ – a drowsy dose of warm afternoon sun complete with beach romance and a hint of melancholy. Now, Minibikes are back and are keen to hit the beach ball back up in the air once again with their punchy new track ‘I Can Feel Ya’.Conjuring the fluidity and evocative nature of a perfectly placed synth in true Minibikes fashion, ‘I Can Feel Ya’ is dream pop at high noon and the second single to be lifted from the band’s heavily anticipated album Freaky Dreams due for release in the second half of 2020.Brad caught up with Marcel from Minibikes recently on ARVOS!
The Bell Streets is a musical collaboration between Nick Batterham and Josh Meadows. Nick has been a central figure in the bands Blindside, The Earthmen and Cordrazine. Josh is the singer from The Sugargliders and The Steinbecks. Nick and Josh have known each other since the early ’90s when they were both in bands on Melbourne indie label Summershine. Now, as The Bell Streets, they have come together to write and record an album that has a classic feel, but is at once fresh and new. Monument is out now through Popboomerang. It wasn’t an easy road, and Rachael couldn’t have got through the stress and difficulty of leaving without the encouragement and understanding of her caseworker, who went above and beyond in the level of care and support she provided.Rachael realised that if everyone had a caseworker like hers, more DFV victims would leave, stay away and rebuild their lives independently, and so the idea for Lokahi was born…and Rachael is now dedicating her life to advocating domestic abuse prevention and support through Lokahi.Lokahi Foundation caseworkers provide a high level of support with no time limitations as we help survivors navigate the myriad of services and support unique to each survivor.https://lokahi.org.au/
