Monday Morning Encouragement.

Happy Monday everyone, This song kept crossing my mind, decided to sing it, pray and share it on the podcast this am.  Wishing everyone a fantastic day.

I don't know about tomorrow

I just live from day to day

I don't borrow from it's sunshine

For its skies may turn to gray

I don't worry o'er the future

For I know what Jesus said

And today I'll walk beside Him

For He knows what is ahead

I believe there is always something about music, the tone, rhythm, melody, words, instrumentation that always has the power to uplift people… its like releasing joy. People’s spirits can be uplifted…

It’s the holiday season and I know that this time brings a wide array of varied emotion.  My encouraging thoughts for today are that you play some music, or sing a song… whether its to you and your household… or you decide to be a caroler for your neighborhood….Remember that you have joy and love within your hearts… Your very presence and being is more than enough. Your voice, Y-o-u matter…

Henri Nouwen, a Dutch Catholic priest writes in his book Life of the Beloved that “from the moment we claim the truth of being the beloved, we are faced with the call to become who we are.   Beloved is  our identity and the definition of identity is the fact of being who or what a thing is. Identity is what we believe about ourselves. Considering the world  is filled with voices  that whisper or declare that we are not good enough, not smart enough, and not successful enough.  The idea that Abba says that we are beloved can seem flowery/idealistic... more so than a truth. In today's episode, I discuss Jen Hatmaker's FB post, it's listed below. I can definitely understand her sentiments, nor do I disagree. More specifically I share my thoughts on the values of the church and thoughts about how the next-generation church looks I hope you will tune in. You can always reach out to the podcast encouragingyourspiritpodcast@gmail.com.

I am not sure I will ever be able to articulate the betrayal these last few years have felt like watching the church that raised me to fall into lockstep with Trump. It is actually shocking. The white supremacy, the brutal anti-immigrant policies, the immorality, the absolute depravity. Every value supposedly held dear - purity, lovingkindness, integrity, humility - turned out to be meaningless when they interfered with proximity to power.

So many of us feel like spiritual orphans, abandoned by our spiritual leaders and disassociated from the church that once taught us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.

It was and remains one of the great sorrows of my adult life.

If Biden is elected, the Christian leaders who threw themselves at Trump & defended his indefensible words & deeds will now be left empty-handed. They got their 30 pieces of silver, but they lost their witness, their integrity, & the next generation of the church.

And as I said below to a commenter: This is not a tacit endorsement of Biden. It is grief over the Christian defense and rabid support of Trump. I will never get over it. My kids will never get over it.
