True North Podcast was birthed from a very stark reality of watching people "losing their way." Making not-so-good decisions based on principles that were/are not healthy. Watching people destroying their families, their reputation, their careers, and themselves. All in the name of being yourself. A stark reality of watching today's society sink into a deep black hopeless hole. We decided to step up to the plate and do something to help our generation find which way is north to find their way to where they need to be. When you find which way is true north, you can only find your way to where you need to be. Our podcast is about addressing the issues, the tough ones, the ones that can destroy someone. This podcast about sharing the principles, biblical principles that will bring you back to a place you can be clear in your thinking, principles, and a standard of living that will bring honor and blessing to your life and make you happy! The following is our mission statement. Our Mission...Helping people find the True North in their life and relationship with God. Once you find the true way with God, you can get anywhere in life. The Pathway...Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalms 105:109

Imagine standing on the edge of a high cliff, looking into the distance at where you want to go, but there is a gap you need to cross. It can be scary, can't it? Well, that's precisely what personal growth can feel like. In this episode, we will discuss the idea of "growth gap traps" and how they could hinder us from reaching our potential and aligning with God's plans. We will draw wisdom from a closer look at Ecclesiastes 10:13-14 from the Bible. If you've been feeling stuck, waiting for motivation, or too scared to make a mistake, this episode is meant to nudge you towards intentional growth and setting achievable goals.
What's scarier than a gap? The fear of being judged by others. In the second half of our conversation, we address this fear head-on and explore how it can impede us from accomplishing our goals and following God's plans. Sometimes, we get so caught up in this fear that we disregard the advice of our mentors, families, and pastors. We will delve deeper into trusting these voices despite the distractions around us.
Furthermore, we pose a challenging question to you - which emotion is more potent: the desire to change and grow or the fear of success pushing others away? Join us as we challenge these assumptions, gain more wisdom, and explore the timing of our growth journey. Buckle up; this is not just a podcast episode; it's a voyage towards intentional personal and spiritual growth.

Welcome to a special 4th of July episode of True North Nation, where we're celebrating freedom in all its forms! As your host, Pastor Ed Snyder, I promise to guide you through a journey of exploring the beautiful liberties we enjoy here in the United States, as well as the freedom bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ. We'll illuminate the concept of liberty and address the shackles many still bear, emphasizing the promise that Jesus's sacrifice brings – freedom from sin when we align ourselves with God.
Our exploration of freedom takes us into the heart of Galatians 5, where we dissect the power of choice and liberation from sin. Walk with me as we appreciate Christ's sacrifice for our transgressions and the ensuing liberation repentance brings. We acknowledge the cross as our emblem of freedom, much like the Statue of Liberty signifies the freedom of our nation. With enlightening conversations lined up with Brother Matt Tuttle, Brother Michael Watts, and Brother Greg Wheeler, we'll delve into the importance of consciously treading the path of righteousness and debunk the devil's deception, empowering us to stay on our path to our true north. Join us for this illuminating journey – find your freedom, find your destination!

It seems like we are always looking for a sign. A sign to know what to do. How to move forward or when to stop.
Gideon asked for a sign to guarantee victory. It was called in the Bible a fleece, and it is usually conditional.
We all would like some sign to know what to do. It's a typical human trait.
The Bible shows us that we are living as we should in our walk with God and our relationship with him. Go with me as we study these nine "virtues" to tell us where we are. Actually, nine of them. They are called the Fruit of the Spirit..
I present some pretty good information as the why as well.

We all struggle with our flesh. We want to do what is right and excel in our relationship with God. But how? How do we accomplish that?
What gives us the power to accomplish victory over the flesh? As Paul said, I do not want to do; I do. And that I want to do, I can't.
It is not about the moment; It's about the long run. It's about building the Christian character that is needed to live above the flesh and live in the Spirit consistently.
This is the first episode of our Fruit of the Spirit series that will give us the tools to accomplish what we need. Come and learn.

The story of Jacqueline St. Clair is intense, however, her story exposes sin at its darkest point and the power of God's saving power.

"Forgive and forget." What weight does this everyday phrase hold?
What do forgiveness and forgetting really mean?
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the number one definition for forgiveness is to "stop feeling angry or resentful towards (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake." And to forget is to: "fail to remember."
But these aren't static, objective words. They are words that require action, and they are subjective to the beholder.
As you may know, Forgive and forget is an oft-repeated piece of advice with biblical origins. Although it might seem trite, there's a reason this little phrase still gets uttered so often. There's true wisdom in forgiving and forgetting. When someone really hurts you, you may question whether you want to forgive someone; it may, in fact, seem utterly unnatural. But there are many reasons why it's sometimes better to forgive and forget, even if part of you doesn't want to.
A must listen to help yourself and to help others.

Throughout Jesus’ life and ministry, He called peoples’ attention to various sins as he taught and guided us in what it truly means to love Him and to walk with Him. But during His ministry, did Jesus call out some sins more than others?
As a disciple of Christ, we need to pay attention, not just to Jesus’ words, but what they reveal about His heart for us. Wherever He calls out sin, he points the way to something far greater than what the sin promises us. This is why it is so crucial to listen closely and respond to what Jesus emphasized in His teachings.

Sorry, but we live in a messed-up world. So many damaging events, lies, and stressful stuff that is happening. What is happening? Biblical prophecy is unfolding right before our eyes. Like it or not, it's happening.
The question is, are you ready? Can you handle what is already here and what is coming? How strong is your relationship with God? When the actual pressure is applied, can you withstand it?
In this episode, Pastor takes us further down the path of biblical meditation and The Five P's of Meditation. However, in this episode, he brings us to a call of action. A call to prayer, fasting, and deep meditation upon God's Word effectively deepening our relationship with God to handle what is coming.

What Is Meditation?
Eastern religions and New Age cults practice a mindless meditation form to discover what they believe to be a divinity hidden within themselves.
Biblical meditation, however, is neither mindless nor self-centered. Biblical Meditation is reflective thinking with an application view. You think about God's ways and align your heart with His will and purpose.

In todays' episode, we take a hard look at revitalizing the positive inner man.
We all have "the beast" instincts that live within us. Yet, we are humans, not animals. Maybe that is why when humans act out of control and do something out of the norm, other people call them animals. "Those animals killed my ______." Animals are hardwired to follow a pattern of conduct, a set of survival instincts built-in. We also possess some of these traits. However, animals have no choice when they feel threatened. They will do all that is necessary to protect their young and survive. There is one primary factor that differs between the animals and us; a moral conscience.

Toxic relationships have a nature that is harmful to our emotional and mental health, and will ultimately destroy us if we continue in it. Be aware; you can seldom repair it. It is not impossible, but it may be next to impossible. It has a great deal to do with the toxic person's desire and ability to change. If they are not changing, then you cannot invite them into your life. When something is toxic, it is poison and becomes deadly. Its destructive nature causes constant stress and poisons us every time we interact with it. History just keeps on repeating itself.
The only thing you can do with some toxic relationships is to contain it by distancing yourself. From time to time, you might interact on a superficial level, but if it still explodes, you may have to distance yourself permanently. However, before we move on, we must realize the proper way to cultivate lasting relationships. If we center our relationships around Christ, everything else will fall in place.

In dealing with our negative emotions, we need to scrutinize our surrounding relationships. Again, each of us is a product of our environment. Remember, our root environment (impressionable years of childhood and adolescence) has everything to do with forming the person we are now.
Relationships impact us. Healthy relationships foster positive emotions. There are several things you can do to understand the different levels of involvement. For example, if you try to develop a working relationship and a best friend category simultaneously, is this feasible? Actually, you should prepare the working relationship first, and only then can it organically grow to best friend status. The same principle applies when you try to fix a toxic relationship. It is highly unlikely this will happen. Unless tremendous amounts of healing take place, you continuously cycle through poison and pain.

In this episode, we get raw in confronting the beast. We address the question of self-identity and the fallout after an inappropriate expression of negative emotions. You keep saying, "I can't control my emotions!" That is a lie! You can!
When you understand the fallout of emotions that follow the inappropriate expression of anger, you will motivate yourself to change.
One of the first things we can do to regain positive control is praying. I know that may sound so simple and even a bit lame if you are not a person that follows that path. However, it does help; if you practice daily prayer and put faith in God, things do change. He will help you heal and find your true self-identity. He knows you better than anyone because he designed and formed you,

In today's episode, we deal with emotional outbursts and addictions. How do we fix them? Once and for all.
If you deal with the symptoms instead of the root problem, you are just asking for future problems. It’s like receiving a shot before a wisdom tooth removal. You don’t feel much at first, although you may drool a while. But when the shot wears off, you need a prescription handy, or you will be in a world of pain. In my personal experience, it's best to try and find the actual root cause of emotional outbursts instead of treating the obvious superficial symptoms. Can you guess the root problem of addiction? It is a proven fact that the root problem for addiction is anger. Anger is designed to wake you up; It's meant to bring attention to injustice within you and your surroundings. It's designed to grab attention so you can make appropriate changes.

In today's episode, we do a 30 minute deep dive into identifying and defusing negative emotions. We give you a nine stepper in how to accomplish that.
Anger is an authoritative energy source. A lot can change for the good if you redirect anger appropriately. At times it's just the loud shouting matches and the exchange of negative statements. Other times it is manifested or unleashed in devastating violence. It can be disastrous. Take a real close look at the damage done to property and relationships, money for the legal fees, retribution, medical bills, damage done to vital human connections, and the time wasted in the confrontations, and it becomes a costly business. Another thought we need to consider is for us to function in a civilized society; it is an absolute necessity for us to control or manage our emotions, especially anger.
To be very honest, this is extremely important to those closest to us because they always catch our wrath when they don't deserve it. In other words, we still hurt the ones we shouldn't hurt at all.
So dive in and take notes on this one; it will help you...a lot, I promised!

In today's episode...
Much like "TMZ" seeks to reveal the dark secrets, wild escapades, and unearthed facts of famous people, I want to rip the veil off anger and emotions. I want you to understand their true nature and why they cannot be trusted. I want you to realize you cannot just set them free and hope for the best. Just like any wild beast, you must train, control, and guard them at all times. Why? Because a wild animal will destroy everything and everyone in its path. Unattended anger and emotions will ruin your relationships, your job, self-worth, dignity, integrity, personal image, and even your soul. In psychology, emotions define a complex state of feeling that results in physical and psychological changes that influence thought and behavior. Author David G Meyers says human emotion involves physiological arousal, expressive behaviors, and conscious experience. Emotion can affect us both physiologically (behavior) and psychologically (thought). That is why it is so vital that we learn to be in control. I want you to understand and get a grip on it for the sake of your future!

In today's episode, we discuss chapter four of our book, Control the Beast, Mr. Beastie's Game.
Those of you with siblings or more than one child in the home will relate. If you grew up with multiple children in the house, and one of you did something wrong, it's always the other one's fault! Am I right? I'm sure everyone can remember one of these instances, if not several. When raising our two children, if something went wrong. I would ask one of them, "Did you do this?" If they said "no," I went to the other child and asked the same question. What do you think was their response? They would say (you guessed it), "No!" It was then I realized it; we surely had a third child in the house somewhere! These are some of the woes of raising children.
Sadly, people go into adulthood without proper training, never learning to own up to what they have done, and never correcting the bad behavior. The problem at this level is an out-of-control adult who never grows up to take responsibility can reign terror in a home and relationships across the board.
As we listen to this podcast, we will learn how to stop playing games with the beast and create a better life and a closer relationship with others and, more so, with God.

In another episode of True North, as we explore our new book Control the Beast, we are looking at How the Beast Works, an understanding of the mechanics of emotions.
Emotions are a combination of elements going on at the same time. They combine mental, psychic, or physical components. These are controlled by internal mechanisms (physiological), which get the person ready for reactions to threats, better known as the "fight or flight syndrome."
So how do we control them? We have to understand behavior modification. Identifying an emotion as positive or negative does not make that emotion right or wrong. It does not make you bad or evil because you have that emotion. You need to learn, identify, and manage it. Emotions tend to balance one another to function in our somewhat civilized society; this is how behavior modification works.

As we look into chapter two of the book, Control the Beast, we need to understand we are the products of our environment. What we submit ourselves to is what we will eventually become. With that thought in mind, we have to look at our surroundings to discover what triggers our anger or any negative emotion for that matter. We will look at six of the most common areas that trigger negative emotions.
