Clinton won the deep Rock Valley Conference in 2017, but in order to repeat, they'll have to fend off several upstarts and established conference powers and replace some outstanding seniors that graduated after last year.
Monona Grove regained the conference crown in 2017, but after graduating a small but outstanding group of seniors, they'll have to contend with a typically-deep Badger South to hold on to the Badger South in 2018.
Waunakee emerged as the Division 2 state champion in 2017, and despite heavy graduation losses, the Warriors enter 2018 as the favorite in the conference. However, there are several challengers to Waunakee's reign atop the Badger North.
Defending state champ Lodi will have to fend off established challengers Lake Mills and Columbus, who have made the state quarterfinals in two of the past three years, and rising challengers Lakeside Lutheran, Luther Prep, and Poynette in the Capitol North in 2018.
