Homilies for Sunday's and Holy Day's delivered for the parishioners of the Portsmouth Cluster of St Paul's, Church of the Resurrection, St Mary's, and Holy Angels, in Portsmouth Virginia in the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. .
I wasn't supposed to preach this weekend. However, I was called at 10:08am that a priest was needed for a 10am mass, so I went and made something up on the spot.
"Peace is the work of justice and the effect of love: it’s the tranquility of order expressed in the individual as experienced by the community."
This week's homily is a mixture of scriptural reflections based on the readings, along with the Catholic social teaching on a just war keeping in mind current events.
I was asked to preach the funeral of a friend of over 20 years. Such a bitter sweet moment.
I havent had a homily to post in a while but here is a life update and a homily all in one.
During the middle of recording my only Easter Homily, my recorder died. So no Easter Sunday Homily. The next weekend I was traveling for a wedding and didn't have a public Sunday Mass. The 3rd Sunday of Easter was the Deacons turn to preach. So here is the first homily I have posted since Lent. Bring your tissues.
An altar server just dropped and broke a candle during the Gospel. That is why my opening doesnt make much sense.
