In this episode, we cover who should speak at a wedding, how long they should speak for, and how to even begin to write a speech!

Wedding speeches are an important part of your day and while some wedding formalities are slipping away, we find speeches are still super popular at weddings and will be here to stay!

Speeches are both an opportunity for the couple to thank their guests but also for your family and close friends to toast your happiness and mark the importance of the occasion by preparing something meaningful to say.

The original meaning of the wedding speech or toast is to wish the new couple health and good luck in their marriage.

Everyone has sat through a drunken, too long or too dull speech which can mean that guests get distracted, uncomfortable and simply switch off

The aim of today's podcast episode is to give some tips and ideas for how to make this NOT happen at your wedding and so couples can help guide their guests in wedding speeches 101.

Apart from having an amazing wedding coordinator on your day (aka my company of course) it’s so so important to have a killer MC that works together with the venue to help the wedding both run on time but also flow beautifully to keep a fantastic wedding vibe.

An MC is someone that can cue all the key areas of your wedding and provide fantastic wording to help flow and connect your formalities and introduce all those special moments.

We often find that our couples really struggle as to who to use as their MC as traditionally its a close family member or friend that will do this BUT sometimes people just don’t have anyone to be able to do this for them or don't want to ask, cue the professional MC.

I have invited onto today's podcast Adam Straney who has MC’d over 6000 events (that is a lot) and worked in the industry for over 20 years, he also happens to be a professional celebrant and radio host on Wave FM’s breakfast show, so what better person to answer all my questions and help provide some advice for our wedding couples out there listening.

On today's podcast episode we are talking all things wedding photography.

Having gorgeous professional photos from your wedding I think is so important, the day goes so quickly and a good photographer will often capture those moments that you may have missed or in the whirlwind weren't fully present for.

Things like details of the styling you worked so hard on or candid moments hugging with your dad can all be documented for you to look back on.

On today's episode, I interview Chris from Red Berry Photography.

Chris has a beautiful approach to photography and as quoted by him says “Wedding Photography allows me to help couples mark their own journey in life and love. I feel privileged to have worked with so many beautiful couples, capturing the emotion and joy of their wedding day"

Hopefully, couples listening can get some great insight into how to choose a wedding photographer, timings and photo run sheet tips, the cost of a photographer and all details in between.

We have couples come to us to help in their wedding planning at all stages, some are yet to choose a venue, while others are deep into the planning process, but have found themselves overwhelmed and time poor and need some help with the next steps.

There is no right or wrong way to plan a wedding, well there are some do’s and don’t to try and stick to but everyone plans a little different.

I have also put together a basic checklist in order from the start of your planning to the big day that you might like to check out on our website www.weddingandeventcreators.com.au and its nestled under Blogs at the top titled ‘Wedding Process Step by Step’

**Now there are stacks of checklists and guides that can be found online, so I also suggest doing a little google research to find a couple with great content and pick and choose the useful parts to create into your own checklist.

We are coming across more weddings that are having children incorporated into certain portions of the wedding day.

A lot of our lovely couples are actually blending two families with previous children or already have children together or their close families children they want to include in the wedding.

Whatever your choice is about deciding to have children at your wedding or not, it's good to have some input from the experts that look after children at weddings every weekend, in this episode, we chat with podcast guest, Melinda from South Coast Nannies.

I thought it would be a great idea to discuss things to consider when having an outdoor wedding, and its interesting because we always have back up plans for wet weather but I think the wind needs to be considered just as much as the rain and if not more.

We love outdoor weddings and I would say the majority of the weddings we do are outdoor ceremonies and people enjoy some outside time for pre drinks canape time so when you add up the time spent outside for weddings, it probably tends to be the majority of the day.

Some of our couples also choose to also have their Plan A reception as an outdoors reception with tables set up under the festoon lighting so for some couples, the whole wedding is planned for outdoors.

Being as organised as you can with a good checklist in advance means you can feel more at ease knowing nothing has been overlooked.

Any style can apply to Winter Weddings of course, but it really lends itself to going wild with Winter and Autumn colour tones.

We work a lot at off-site properties, places like barns, marquees and venues that are very DIY so it’s really helpful knowing you have arranged all the logistical things, meaning on the day there are no last-minute dashes to the local Woolies..

We always suggest having an earlier ceremony time during non-daylight savings and the cooler weather months to the advantage of the beautiful afternoon.

Why not do something different and instead of Pims or a chilled cocktail for your post-ceremony drinks, adding a warm or Wintery style drink to your bar menu.

Any style can apply to Winter Weddings of course, but it really lends itself to going wild with Winter and Autumn colour tones.

Winter is often overlooked for weddings as it doesn’t have the balmy summer evening vibe, but there are so many benefits for a winter wedding, often venues have discounted rates, suppliers and vendors have more availability and once your guests get a few vinos and hit that dancefloor the chilliness is completely forgotten.
