Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 130: REPARENTING YOUR INNER CHILD: Compassion for Yourself and Those Who Raised You: Reparenting Your Inner ChildReparenting your inner child is one of the most powerful tools for healing we have in our toolbox. What do I mean by “reparenting?” What do I mean by “inner child?”Some of you may be familiar with these ideas, and some of you maybe not so much. In simple terms, your inner child is the part of your psyche that is vulnerable, needy, sensitive, and also joyful, exuberant, and honest. Most of us shove aside our childlike tendencies in adolescence to become “mature adults,” only to later realize that connecting to our inner child helps us experience the fullness of life to a greater degree. Growing up forces us to put on the armor of adulthood. Growing wise means we start dismantling that armor, piece by piece. In order to connect with the gifts of living out of your inner child, you first have to do the hard work of reparenting your inner child. Let’s get into what that hard work entails in today’s podcast.EPISODE 130 TOPICS:- Reparenting is a way of looking at yourself and the people who raised you with compassion, or at least acceptance. - Even with wonderful, available, and well-intentioned parents, each person still has a wounded inner child that needs to be tended to and needs to be reparented. - You will continue to attract the same experiences over and over again and fail in your romantic life until you address your inner child.LINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. For the past few years, I’ve been on this journey of rediscovery, and it has changed everything. In Part One of this chapter, Removing Shame and Shedding Limiting Beliefs, I touched on the word “should.” Here’s a little refresher:And anytime you hear the word “should” thrown around, that’s a pretty sure sign that someone is trying to play the shame game. “You should really cover up.”“Do you really think you should be wearing that at your age?”“You should mind your manners.”“You should be ashamed of yourself!”Ring a bell?Throughout this journey, we’ve been working hard on raising our vibrations and being responsible for the energy we give and we surround ourselves with, we’ve worked on living from soul instead of ego, and we’re currently working on removing shame and shedding limiting beliefs. I don’t think we can fully remove shame or shed limiting beliefs without dealing with the magnitude of the word should and totally eliminating it from our vocabulary. So while this Part 5 is not expected, it’s absolutely necessary. Because the words we say matter. The words we say to ourselves matter. The words we say to others matter. Words speak things into existence. They’re a tool of creation. The word “should” is not good for any of us. Should is an indication of obligation, not desire. So when we tell ourselves we “should” do something, we are telling ourselves we are morally or legally bound to do it. How many times a day do you think or say the words “I should”? That’s how many times you're telling yourself you are morally obligated to do that task. Not that you’re grateful for the opportunity to do that task. Not that you’re excited to do that task. You’re obligated. It’s crucial for us to flip the script here: we need to rewire that trigger from one of obligation to one of consideration. Find out more about this concept in today’s podcast.EPISODE 129 TOPICS:- The word “should” is not good for any of us. Should is an indication of obligation, not desire. - It’s equally harmful when we use it with others. And why if we have children, we must eliminate it from our vocabulary. - Because “should” is judgmental. The word “should” creeps into our minds and steals away our most precious resource: our time.LINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. For the past few years, I’ve been on this journey of rediscovery, and it has changed everything. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 128As we close out our chapter on removing shame and shedding limiting beliefs, we’ve gotta talk about triggers and glimmers. We all know what triggers are. Trigger warning! Painful stuff is coming! Triggers are ways we respond– even in ways we can’t control– to things that bring up past pain. It’s a way our body remembers threats, to try to protect us. Glimmers are similar, except instead of remembering pain, our bodies are remembering joy. They are welcoming back beauty and saying, I see you. I remember you. The thing is, both triggers and glimmers are good things, because they act as arrows pointing to growth. Find out what I mean by that in today’s podcast.EPISODE 128 TOPICS:- The meanings of triggers and glimmers - What happens when you avoid your triggers - How triggers and glimmers relate to horticulture, and how you can use them to help with personal growthLINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. For the past few years, I’ve been on this journey of rediscovery, and it has changed everything. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 127Before I had moved back to my hometown of Conway, Arkansas, over a year ago, I had some unspoken expectations of what I thought my life would look like when I returned. In my effort to see the best in every situation, I’d imagined some specific moments and memories I wanted to create. After being back for a few months, I started noticing this creeping feeling that those moments and memories… weren’t going to be my reality. I had put my hope in this version of life back in my hometown that would make returning “worth it,” and when that didn’t come to fruition, I felt stuck, a little hopeless, and more than a little devastated. It was that shame + limiting belief spiral coming back to bite me. How am I still dealing with these same issues, I wondered. I thought I had looked through everything. I had peeled back layers. I had done some major healing. For a year. And that’s when I woke up to the real cause– and purpose– of these wounded cycles we inflict upon ourselves. Each of us has some core wounds we internalize in childhood. They’re not always the result of bad parents or abusive situations or neglect, although they can be. They can also be interactions with friends, teachers, coaches, and strangers. Core wounds are more than just general shame or limiting beliefs. It’s an insult or situation or feeling that starts as a one-time thing, but then we start seeing it confirmed time and time again. It’s not a passing feeling that we are bad, but a wounding that changes how we behave going forward that only confirms our deepest fears about ourselves and causes us to act in ways that continue to prove that fear to be true. Once we internalize those core wounds, throughout our lives we “call in” scenarios that confirm the story we tell ourselves about ourselves. Because even if the message we’ve internalized isn’t kind or loving, seeing it confirmed feels familiar, which can be mistaken for comfort. If we don’t heal from these childhood wounds, we spend our adulthoods recreating them. Do you see this playing out in your own life? Find out more during today’s podcast.EPISODE 127 TOPICS:- Each of us has some core wounds we internalize in childhood. Core wounds are more than just general shame or limiting beliefs. - Soulmate relationships – those where you can see and be seen as you truly are – showed the lesson I was missing, the core wounds I still had all wrapped up in abandonment.- The good life is a life of unconditional love and that doesn’t happen until we first and foremost love ourselves unconditionally, until we can live out of our true identity. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 126Last week, we talked about how shame disconnects us from our true self. Shame and limiting beliefs are like two sides of the same coin. Shame tells us that we are bad and wrong, and often, limiting beliefs can tell us that others are bad and wrong. Often, a limiting belief isn’t something we even realize we agree with until we… stop believing in it. That’s what makes them so hard to identify! But typically these are beliefs we have about what leads to success, what’s going to get us a “good” life or make us a “good” person. It’s like some sort of script we believe we have to stick to if we want the fairytale ending. And usually, we’re so young when we get handed this script that we don’t even have the tools to question whether it’s true or real or leading to any kind of happy ending that we actually want!Let me give you an example during today’s podcast.EPISODE 126 TOPICS:- Shame and limiting beliefs are like two sides of the same coin.- There is no right or wrong choice. There is only truth. There’s only what’s right and true for each person. - Limiting beliefs aren’t helping you or protecting you. They are simply lies based in fear.LINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. For the past few years, I’ve been on this journey of rediscovery, and it has changed everything. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 125I remember when I turned thirty-nine and bought my first crop top. It was an act of beautiful rebellion. Not against age, nope! I’ve never had a problem with growing older, and no part of me wanted to dress like a teen in some sort of mid-life crisis. I was rebelling against shame. Against all the messages I’d heard growing up that sunk in deep and made me feel like revealing any part of myself– both physically and emotionally– was something to be ashamed of. Like most women throughout history, but even specifically those growing up like I did, in the American south in the last half a century, showing any amount of skin was met with disapproving glares, gossipy whispers, and choruses of “bless her heart.” Can you relate? Find out in today’s podcast.EPISODE 125 TOPICS:- How does a crop top equal freedom- Shame is one of the main things that can keep you from being who you were meant to be and living the life you were made to live- Choosing to honor your own inherent value by standing up to shame, and what this looks like in hustle cultureLINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. For the past few years, I’ve been on this journey of rediscovery, and it has changed everything. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 124In Part One of this past chapter on Exchanging Ego for Soul, we talked about how obsession with our bodies and the physical form can expand our Ego, feed our obsession with how we’re perceived, and distract us from nourishing our souls. Today, however, we’re going to give our bodies the credit they deserve. Because when we learn to honor our souls, the body can be one of the greatest sources of wisdom, working in tandem with our souls to direct us and lead us on the path back to our true selves. Our bodies aren’t evil. They’re not bad. There’s a reason we’re not disembodied souls floating around a spirit world made of fog and twilight. But we’re often so busy telling our bodies what to be, what to do, and what to look like, that we forget to listen to their inherent wisdom. Your mind will often lie to you about your body. But your body never lies. When you’ve retrained your mind to trust your soul’s truth, your body becomes your best ally. Let me tell you what I mean with a little throwback story involving a fourteen-year-old Jess, in today’s podcast.EPISODE 124 TOPICS:- Your mind will often lie to you about your body. But your body never lies. - Sometimes, it’s easier for us to trust our bodies when they warn of something bad, but that same trust doesn’t apply when our bodies recognize something good. - Living a deeply soulful life requires trusting your body. All day long, your body is talking to you. Will you listen?LINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. For the past few years, I’ve been on this journey of rediscovery, and it has changed everything. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 123Have you ever been going about your day, doing something totally normal like getting groceries, logging into your email, picking your kids up from school, or going on a hike, and something happens that stops you in your tracks… some little coincidence or a moment of deja vu, or a text from a long lost friend you just had a dream about the night before?I think most of us have. One of the most beautiful things about believing that there is a bigger purpose for your life, a divine destiny for your soul that the whole universe is conspiring to unleash, is that you get to go through life expecting to be amazed by these little moments where the spiritual world and the physical world intersect. It’s amazing how the further I’ve gotten from the rigid and sometimes dry faith of my childhood, the more I see God at work in the world around me. Can you relate?God got real and fun (and real fun!) for me when I truly began to experience God outside of the teeny tiny box God was put in for me growing up in the American South’s Bible Belt. God was church three times a week. God was bible study. God was in a building. I couldn’t imagine then how much more God could be. That God could be playful, fun, and near. Here’s how, in today’s podcast.EPISODE 123 TOPICS:- When God got real and fun (and real fun!) for me- The time an owl and I were locked in on each other, and the significance of this encounter- Angel numbers and why I was seeing 11:11 all the timeLINKS:THE PATH BACK TO YOUMy brand new course, The Path Back to You isn't about starting over, but starting again, on a path that will return you to yourself. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 122If you’re following along week by week, you know that last week we talked about the difference between ego and soul. This week, we’re going to talk about what soul freedom looks like. The whole point of this series, and of my course The Path Back to You, is finding how to unlock the freedom to live your life out of soul freedom. Because if you’re not living out of freedom, what are you even doing?!? And yet, I’ve spent decades of my life living in bondage to people or stories that we haven’t chosen for ourselves. When you’re not living life out of soul freedom, it’s usually because you haven’t figured out what you really want, or you haven’t given yourself permission to actually go after it. So let’s talk about what soul freedom is and how you can choose it!True soul freedom comes when you have the autonomy of choice. So often, the lowest times in our lives happen when we have no good choices. Choice can be taken away from us in many different ways, some we can control. Others, we can’t. Even when someone isn’t actively taking away your freedom, limiting beliefs that are passively handed down can also take freedom away. Even if you have had the best childhood imaginable, a marriage a Disney princess would be jealous of, a career that lights you up, and a family that champions you endlessly, you can still uncover messages you’ve believed that limit your freedom. Let me give you an example and go more in depth in today’s podcast.EPISODE 122 TOPICS:- What following our envy can reveal- You’re not the only one devoid of freedom to choose; everyone you know, even those you least expect, feels suffocated in some aspect of their life. - Soul freedom to me: Choosing the life I long for, even if there are painful consequences.Let’s get into it in today’s podcast.LINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 121My kids recently lost their great grandfather. It was an open casket. Before the visitation, I told my kids that even though they’d be looking at their great grandfather’s body, his soul was not there. Have you ever noticed that the body never really looks like the person did in life? There are many reasons for this, but the most important one, to me, is that a body isn’t really anything without a soul. I told my kids that just like our car is important to us because it takes us from school to piano to baseball and home again, our bodies are just vehicles for our souls. They are, at their best, functional for us. At worst, they can be the very things that keep us from embodying love, which is our greatest calling. On earth, we focus so much on our bodies, on our human forms. We exercise and diet and hang mirrors everywhere, and even if we’re not looking at our literal bodies, we’re thinking about satisfying cravings, elevating ourselves, getting ahead, and winning. This is all living from ego. What do I mean by that, and why does it matter? Let’s get into it in today’s podcast.EPISODE 121 TOPICS:- In order to reach full consciousness, to live in the energy frequency of unconditional love, we have to retrain our human selves to learn to live from the soul. - The idea of soul and ego isn’t a new thing.- It’s your brain (your mortal, human thing) mismatching with your soul (your eternal, God thing).LINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 120Sometimes, whether slowly or all at once, you realize that your life is not and will never be what you thought it would be. Even if it is more beautiful than you thought possible, even if you are more fulfilled than you could have imagined, even if you wouldn’t take that first dream life back for all the money in the world, you eventually need to grieve the life you fought so hard for… the life you’ll never have and maybe never had.  EPISODE 120 TOPICS:- Why I’ll never mourn Brian, and how, in many ways, my sister Courtney is still here too- The most helpful way to revisit a life that you mourn but don’t want back is to explore timelines and what to meditate on to explore them- Shifting timelines and the ‘quantum leap’LINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 119 I remember when Brian and I moved to Nashville after our year of traveling the country in an Airstream, and I was convinced that putting down new roots in a new city would be the final step in our healing journey. Both individually and together. I thought Brian would finally be able to meet new friends, get excited about getting a job, we could go on dates to places we've never been before, and enjoy the culture of a big city. There was nothing I wouldn’t do to help us move forward. I just didn’t realize at the time that the one thing I couldn’t do was move Brian forward with me. And I tried. Each time we had a conversation where I was ramping us up to move forward, it felt like the two of us were sitting in a car, and I had my foot pedal to the metal on the gas. And Brian not only had his foot on the break, but he had the car in reverse. He didn’t just want to stand still, he wanted to go backward. I’ve got my eyes on the road ahead, and he’s looking out the rear view mirror. And we’re just stuck. Brian’s regret was keeping his eyes fixed on the past. Most times, I think regret is just unfelt grief. And regret is totally unproductive. Focusing on what you wish happened differently has no power to keep it from happening again. The best way to move forward with clarity is to reexamine those memories and events in your life that have brought you grief. Not so you can wallow in what you wish had happened differently, but so you can learn what has made you who you are. Only then can you grow into something more. So what does it look like to honor our past trauma and use it to move forward with wisdom and clarity? Let’s talk about it in today's podcast.EPISODE 119 TOPICS:- What does it look like to honor past trauma- Comparative trauma does no one any good, meaning, uncovering the events that were traumatic to you. - Trust what hurts. Grieve deeply so you don’t regret. Even trauma can be transformed into growth when you honor it with your attention. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 118 In order for something to grow, it first has to be pruned. If you’ve ever lived in the south, you’ve seen Crepe Myrtle trees surrounding houses and lining neighborhood streets in cities all over the place. There is nothing more jarring than seeing a Crepe Myrtle in springtime. They prune back those trees so much it’s hard to believe they’ll ever produce growth again. And yet every year, they come back bigger and more beautiful than ever before. And if they hadn’t been pruned, they’d be weak, scrawny, and more susceptible to damage. The same is true with us. Good growth requires us to leave parts of ourselves behind. And that leaving can even feel like a death. Because it is! Growth is painful. It requires conscious removal of the parts of ourselves that we still love but no longer want or need. It’s important to know that even though we may need to leave these parts of ourselves behind, we can still mourn their loss. You may mourn your former life while anticipating a new, better one. You may feel the loss of a person who was once so important to you that you couldn’t imagine your life without them. You may miss who you once were while still being grateful for all the ways you’ve changed. This is why Embracing the Darkness is so important. Things can be good and hard at the same time, and when we pretend they aren’t, we learn to believe our own self-deception. The sooner, and the more often, we can trust ourselves about when it’s time to move on, knowing it may be painful but still good, the easier it will be to step into the life meant for us. Find out what I mean by this in today's podcast.EPISODE 118 TOPICS:- The sooner, and the more often, we can trust ourselves about when it’s time to move on, knowing it may be painful but still good, the easier it will be to step into the life meant for us- Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.- Fear and Ghosting LINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 117For the first four weeks of The Path Back to You, we focused on energy, digging into what it looks like to raise our vibrations. Now, I bet I can guess what’s happened since you’ve started that journey.Sh*t got hard. Really hard.We have the phrase “growing pains” for a reason. When you start growing, everything gets harder before it gets easier. You’ve decided to wake up to yourself, which means casting off all the old coping mechanisms and numbing techniques you’ve used to get through hard things in the past. You know what I mean. The mindless scrolling. The hours of reality TV. The binge eating. The restrictions that help you feel like you can control something. Anything. The anger. The resentment. The isolation. The overpacked schedule.Evolving requires a lot of dissolving of old energy, old mindsets, old truths. Embracing the new you means doing the hard work in a new way.It means instead of distracting ourselves from the darkness, we have to look at it full in the face.Because only through embracing the coming darkness can we uncover our light. In today's podcast, you'll find out what is the bright side of shadow work.EPISODE 117 TOPICS:- Why shadow work is like a hallway- When I reached rock bottom, I did something I never thought I’d do- Going into the darkness to find the light LINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 116 What Happens When Energy Gets StuckEnergy can get locked (and unlocked) in our bodies, and the physical places where this tends to happen relates to where chakras are located. If this feels scary, remember that we all do this all the time, just with more comfortable language. When something sad happens, you might say that your heart is broken, even though that the brain and nervous system is in charge of pain perception, not the heart. When you feel nervous, you might have butterflies in your belly, even though that’s not actually possible. Before a wedding, we want to make sure no one has “cold feet.” We already relate emotions to physical locations in our body. With chakras, we’re just giving a name (and centuries of wisdom and practice) to truths we already recognize in how we talk about our bodies and our spirits. When I first heard Brian’s “non-medical” diagnosis– a blocked solar plexus chakra, I think that was the beginning of me really beginning to ask myself what felt right in my own body as far as what I had been told. Trusting my intuition and not blindly believing people just because they had a few letters at the end of their name. Nothing the doctors said had felt right. And it certainly hadn’t done any good. Brian had just gotten sicker and sicker. I believed then and believe now that, had we continued on that course, he would have lost his colon and probably his life. But the chakra and neglect - that felt true. It was a completely different feeling in my body, a feeling I’ve come to identify as knowing. In today's podcast, you'll find out what are chakras and what happens when energy gets stuck.Episode 116 Topics:- A simple breakdown of how chakras work- How chakras and traffic roundabouts are alike- The focus of specific energy of each chakraLINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. My hope is that through my story, you can better see yourself. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 115 How to Raise Your Vibration and Protect Your EnergyLife is full of exchanges where energy is the currency. With every interaction, you’re either buying or selling, taking in energy or giving it away.Social Media is an energy exchange. Television is an energy exchange. Podcasts, music, and audiobooks are energy exchanges. What you read, the food you eat, the conversations you have, the people you engage with. All energy exchanges. What does this mean?Protect your energy. Always.Living a high vibe life seems like a fun, free spirit thing to do, but in reality, it requires incredible self-awareness and self-control. Especially when you’re first discovering where you’ve got some energy leaks.Negativity is contagious. Unhappiness is contagious. Fear is contagious. It could be leaking out of you or flowing into you without you even being aware of it.The good news is that other things are contagious too. Happiness is contagious. So is optimism. So is love. Before you respond to someone, remember that your response is also your agreement to establish an energy connection with them, which may change your energy field and vibrational frequency. In less “woo” language, every interaction will be some version of someone bringing you down or someone pulling you up. And we all know what this feels like. The hostess at the restaurant who acts like you’re an idiot for not making a reservation? Energy dips. The random girl in Target who compliments your outfit. Energy rises. In today's podcast, you'll find out how you can learn to be more protective of your energy so these negative interactions aren’t carried with you into your day.Episode 115 Topics:- Slow, easy steps so you have more control over putting energy into growth- Allowing your environment to change- Don’t match anyone’s energy. Embody your own.LINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 114 A High Vibe Life: The Energy that Got You Here Can’t Take You There. The reason so many of us feel the opposite of content is because we aren’t living in alignment. Alignment– which is unique and different for every soul because each soul is uniquely created by God, by the energy of unconditional love, and each soul has its own unique path and this will look different for everyone– is when the thoughts you think, match the feelings you feel, match the words you say, match the actions you portray. When everything is on the same page, you don’t have that experience of feeling one way yet rationalizing yourself into believing the opposite. In today's podcast, you'll find out what that looked like in my own life…Episode 114 Topics:- The absolute lowest frequencies of energy- What happens when you choose a high vibrational life- Ego Self vs. Higher Self and what that meansLINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul.In “The Path Back to You” I share with you my own personal story of struggle, trauma, etc. as a sacred offering. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 113 Everything is Energy. It’s a long, winding road to get back home to ourselves. The Sioux Indians are known to say that the longest journey is from your head to your heart. It’s difficult to unlearn everything we’ve been taught. To look at and break down each and every limiting belief society has taught us, unlearning all of it and returning home to our soul. To God. To love. Only when we are able to fully love ourselves are we capable of truly loving others. Jesus was God manifested in human form. Jesus is a beautiful example of unconditional love. Jesus was not judgemental. Jesus did not operate from fear or shame or guilt. Jesus operated from a place of pure unconditional love. Our purpose here on Earth is to raise our vibration, to come into consciousness, to operate from a place of pure unconditional love. Instead of chasing, we can rest, because wholeness is waiting inside us, not hiding somewhere “out there.”But along life’s journey, we’ve likely picked up some bad habits that influence our energy.Episode 113 Topics:- Nothing else I share this year will make sense without this conversation about energy.- Things that can influence our vibrational energy- Like energy attracts like energy, and what that means for you personallyLINKS:The Path Back to YouWhen you feel like you're losing your mind, I’m here to help you restore your soul. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 107 Uncovering Divine Femininity Part One: The Truth and Relief in Discovering the Masculine and Feminine Energies.I am so excited about this week and about what I am going to be sharing each day on the podcast. I recently published a brand new series on the blog at https://jessicazimmerman.com/blog/ and I am so very proud of this series — Uncovering Divine Femininity. I want to share it with you with audio because it is a little bit lengthy. If you see the first blog you think, “man, I’m going to need a little time for this.” I understand being a busy mom of three, and life being very full that sometimes the only time we have to consume the content we want to is through a podcast. So I thought I definitely need to record this series for those who don’t have time to sit and read every word. And today is the day!The work I do is soul work. If I’m doing my job right, I am sharing experiences as truthfully as possible in a way that emancipates me from them while hopefully powering you through them. I am incredible proud of this series. This has been the most difficult time I’ve ever had getting a project to the finish line, but with the help of my incredible team, we did it. I hope you will take the time today to either read the series yourself at https://jessicazimmerman.com/uncovering-divine-femininity or listen to today’s podcast because it really is worth it. I as always want to thank you for being invested in my journey. And every single human embodies both because we were created from both. You will identify as either a Core Feminine or a Core Masculine, no matter what your gender or sexual preference. This energy framework gives language and understanding to how our heads and hearts, souls and bodies, ego and actualized selves can interact and come into balance. - The Masculine’s Core Wound and the Feminine’s Core Wound- The moment when Brian and I realized that we needed to separateLINKS:To follow along, head to the Uncovering Divine Femininity: The Truth and Relief in Discovering the Masculine and Feminine Energies Part One blog post here: https://jessicazimmerman.com/blog/uncovering-divine-femininity-the-truth-and-relief-in-discovering-the-masculine-and-feminine-energies Following the Stars Podcast Episodes:102: http://zimmermanpodcast.squarespace.com/show-notes/following-the-stars-part-one-truth-in-an-unexpected-place 103: http://zimmermanpodcast.squarespace.com/show-notes/following-the-stars-part-two-uniquely-made104 In this episode I shared how the most life-altering piece of information I received during my deep dive into astrology: http://zimmermanpodcast.squarespace.com/show-notes/following-the-stars-part-three-staying-in-comfort-or-choosing-growth 105: http://zimmermanpodcast.squarespace.com/show-notes/following-the-stars-part-four-there-is-a-season-for-everything106: http://zimmermanpodcast.squarespace.com/show-notes/following-the-stars-part-five-a-guide-for-your-journeyUnderstand Women Better by Lorin Krenn: https://rstyle.me/+Y9L9q0dBv2MH8M2PvKSNPw My book, Sleeping with a Stranger: https://jessicazimmerman.com/sleeping-with-a-stranger My TED talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z_ax0vCBUw

Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 102.If you follow me on social media, then you know I pushed pause on the business for a little bit while I was going through some personal growth and some healing. It was a journey that I had to dive right into and do alone. You can read more about that in my written series, Uncovering Divine Femininity (https://jessicazimmerman.com/uncovering-divine-femininity) That series really explains what the pause over the past few years was all about. As I was finishing launching that series, I thought “I also wrote a series a few months prior called Following the Stars.” I think if you read and hear Following the Stars before Uncovering Divine Femininity, it all makes more sense. I realize not everyone has time to sit and read those long blogs so I thought "what if I recorded them and made them into podcasts?" So that’s what this episode is all about. I will also will be recording the Uncovering Divine Femininity series so be on the lookout for future podcast episodes of those blog posts as well.Hit play on this podcast episode so we can dive into Following the Stars Part One: Truth in an Unexpected Place. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 101! I haven’t shared a new episode of Zimmerman Podcast in over a year, but I’m coming out of semi-retirement to share a story, an update, and hopefully some help. The past twelve months have been full of transitions and unexpected turns. Our family found a new home in Nashville, TN, Brian and I legally separated, I endured a season of deep depression for the first time in my life, we started rebuilding what our family looks like and who we need to be, the kids and I moved back to Conway, Arkansas… and those are just the big things! Throughout this process, I’ve found guidance and insight from an unexpected place: astrology. Today on the podcast, I’m sitting down with my favorite astrology expert Jessie Eccles to unpack my journey into astrology, some details around the decoupling of my marriage, how Brian and I are growing into more of who we are separately, and how astrology has been a roadmap guiding us to who we need to become. Jessie is a grounded, logical, clear voice in the astrology world, and whether you’re totally new to the idea of astrology or you’re someone who has had your chart done and already knows your sun, moon, and rising signs and your nodes and more, you’ll love Jessie’s take on unpacking our unique and divine design. Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 100!!

It’s hard to believe that in less than two years we’ve shared 100 podcast episodes. I’ve recorded in a closet in Conway Arkansas and an Airstream in Palm Springs, California.

I’ve talked about everything from my marriage and personal finances, to how I approach stressful holiday seasons, to why checking your email is the surprising enemy of productivity.

Today, I’m sharing with you the future of Zimmerman Podcast. We’re looking back on the past 100 episodes and looking forward to the future of Zimmerman.

So I’m going to get right to the important part. After 100 amazing episodes, we’re officially ready to press pause after this first season of Zimmerman Podcast.

Part of why we’re doing this is because it’s time to really dig into my book promo for Sleeping with a Stranger and another exciting announcement I have coming this fall.

In one of our very first podcast episodes, episode four with Katie Selvidge, we talked about how to build a business that can pivot as your interest, passions, and paths change. That’s exactly what I have with Zimmerman thanks to all of you.

I’m so thankful for you, my Zimmerman listeners. Some started following along when I was doing bouquet tutorials and teaching a new way to make real money in the wedding industry. Some of you started tuning in when you read my book or heard me as a guest on another podcast. Others have come along more recently to follow along with our Airstream adventure.

However you found me, I’m so glad you did. And I’ll still be updating and sharing over on my Instagram at @jessicazimmerman_ and on the blog at jessicazimmerman.com/blog. I’d love it if you stayed in the loop over there.

I’m not saying “goodbye” forever, just see ya later! And you can always listen-- and re-listen-- to old episodes right here.

Thank you for following along here at Zimmerman Podcast. It’s been a wild ride!

Episode 98 Product Picks: BeeKeeper’s Naturals

In October 2019, I decided to write the entire first draft of my book in like... five days. It was intense. I knew I needed to be laser focused for those four days, so you better believe I loaded up on my Beekeeper’s Naturals goodies every day that week!

I took the B. Powered superfood honey to improve my focus and keep me alert. I also took a BLIXR vial each morning to clear out that brain fog.

Truthfully, two years ago I never could have written this book in four days. I didn’t have the mental clarity or the energy to do it. But my Beekeeper’s honey keeps me fueled and fog-free, and I can definitely notice a difference on the days I forget to take it.

Today, we’re talking about the three steps you can take to being a better employee.

Now, even if you own your own business like me, you’re still an employee-- of yourself! And as the leader, it’s your job to win employee of the month every month-- metaphorically of course.

Whether you’re just getting started in a new job, you’re working with a new boss, or you’re entering the workforce for the first time, you’re probably realizing that being successful at your job takes more than just being an expert at what you do.

It also requires you to work well interpersonally with the people around and above you. You’ve probably gone through years of school and special training to do your job, but no one’s told you what it takes to be the kind of employee that makes herself stand out at work.

Today, I’ll share with you my three best tips for being an employee anyone would want to keep around.

Episode 97 Topics: - The one fool-proof question that you can use to assess your own commitment to your work - Why taking personal responsibility for business can give you purpose and peace - Helpful scripts for what to say when you need to own your mistakes - Why your identity is not dependent on your own perfection - Why consistency in your effort is essential

Sleeping with a Stranger

Sleeping with a Stranger is officially available everywhere books are sold in hardcover, paperback, ebook, and audiobook. Since the book’s launch, I’ve been amazed by how it has been received. From being named a best seller by USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Amazon and Barnes & Noble to incredibly personal and touching reviews from my amazing readers, it’s been such a wild journey!

Here’s one of my favorite reviews…

“I love the honesty of this book. It is real and raw and doesn't hold back; and that is why it is so mesmerizing. I could relate on so many levels and I know it must've been so hard to write about many of these very personal and taboo topics. I couldn't put the book down, it was such an easy and enlightening read. I highly recommend this to anyone who is soul searching or just looking for some perspective. Truth is better than fiction!”

If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that health and wellness is much more than our physical output.

Our bodies, minds, and spirits work together inside of us to build a whole, complete person. When one pillar of wellness suffers, everything suffers.

So how do we take care of ourselves in a whole-hearted way when we already have way too much on our to-do list?

That’s what I’m talking about today with Ashley Turner, a mind body psychotherapist, power yoga expert, and marriage and family therapist.

Episode 95 Topics: What are chakras and why do they matter? How to be kind to our bodies to heal our minds and spirits Why movement and breath is essential in lowering stress levels How three deep breaths can change your day and heal your body

Today, I’m sharing my five-part system for implementing ideas with purpose.

Part of being an entrepreneur, and really, part of being a human, is having new and exciting ideas that propel us through new phases of life and business.

Ideas can be as simple as, “I need a better system for tracking my spending” or as seemingly crazy as “What if we traveled the country in an airstream full-time?”

But when you remember that everytime you say “yes” to an idea, it means saying “no” to something else, figuring out how and when to implement new ideas becomes incredibly important!

So today we’re talking about how to invest in ideas with purpose.

Episode 93 Topics: - Why a simple google doc is the secret to planning and living with purpose - Why it’s essential to give yourself time to choose the next right thing in your life - How to choose your two or three most life-changing ideas each year - How to feel confident in your “yeses” and celebrate your “nos”

Lea Black CBD Skincare In all the years I’ve been showing up online, teaching business education webinars or sharing about my life in Instagram stories, there’s one question I get more than ANY OTHER:

What skincare do you use???

For years, I had a pretty disappointing answer: a bar of soap.

But as I started prioritizing my own wellness and stopped feeling guilty for investing time in taking care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally, I knew I needed to up my skincare game.

Enter Lea Black skincare.

While I love literally every Lea Black skincare product I’ve tried, my favorite by far is the CBD Soothing Eye Cream, which can make me look rested and energized even after late nights up with the kids or prepping for a new course launch. I’m convinced that the CBD infused cream makes my eyes look bright and smooth, and I swear it even makes me feel more awake.

Whether I’m hitting the road with my family, preparing for a day of Zoom meetings, or getting a full face of makeup on to do some book press, I’m so thankful to be using products that really work.

Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast episode 91.

Today, I’m sharing a sort of virtual mentoring session, addressing one of the most common topics I come across when I’m mentoring business-owners or teaching classes.

Time and time again, I see entrepreneurs working incredibly hard toward business goals that, after our time together, they realize they didn’t even really want to achieve.

When we spend so much of our time trying to keep up with, or outpace, our industry peers, we can end up spending our best hours trying to win a race that we don’t even want to be running.

Instead of getting caught up in the comparison game that only ends up distracting us from our purpose, let’s dive into how we can listen to our own voices and write our own scripts.

Episode 91 Topics: - How to be mindful about what you’re consuming so you can create authentically again - Why what you consume both points to and determines what you’re searching for - How to use what you envy as a North Star to your ideal life - How to trust yourself and the answers inside of you - What is GGMM and how does it change my day, every day - How to find clarity in what you want from life

Episode 91 Product Picks: Lea Black CBD Skincare In all the years I’ve been showing up online, teaching business education webinars or sharing about my life in Instagram stories, there’s one question I get more than ANY OTHER:

BeeKeeper’s Naturals

Welcome to Zimmerman Podcast Episode 90.

Today, to help us keep the good momentum of a new year, I’m sharing what I do at the beginning of each year to focus my intentions and goals for another year here on earth.

I’ve never been a big “New Year's Resolutions” fan. Those seem to rely pretty heavily on motivation, which just isn’t enough to get you through the first week of the year, forget about all the long weeks and months.

Especially with a year as long as this one.

And if you have more you want to change than just exercise more or drink more water, if you want more of a full-life overhaul, it’s hard to know where to start.

But I’m going to walk you through my 5 steps for ditching resolutions and planning days worth repeating.

Episode 90 Topics: - How to reverse-engineer big goals - The mindset work required for building a better year - How to define how you want to spend your time - Why envy is your North Star - What it looks like to determine your non-negotiables

Today on this most recent episode of Zimmerman Podcast’s limited series, Under the Cover, I’m sharing my best self-care secrets.

Writing a book is no easy feat, and living through the story I’m sharing was even more difficult! After years of taking care of my husband, my children, and my business, I had to completely relearn how to take care of myself!

There were a few years there when I don’t remember changing out of maternity yoga pants, making myself a beautiful, nutritious meal, or even looking in a mirror.

These days, I know that self-care isn’t selfish at all! In fact, neglecting myself is one of the most selfish things I could do. When I take care of myself, I’m a better mom, wife, boss, and friend.

I just had to learn that lesson the hard way!
