Have you ever questioned your K-12 education?
We all know of that one school that was wealthy and overflowed with resources and let's be honest--it was white.
Then there was the other school, predominantly with BIPOC students and it had low rates, was underfunded, and was understaffed.
Then suddenly, that low-income school is no longer low-income, there's money coming in but now there's less BIPOC students and more white. Not just in the school, but in the neighborhood communities too.
But why?
For the final episode, we discuss the role of parents in the educational market, neoliberal education framework, the role of white, middle/upper class parents, and various teacher perspectives. We also give closing remarks and action items from the podcast team.
