On the latest episode of the podcast, it’s time to discuss a game that’s been coming a very, very long time: UFO 50.
UFO 50 was actually announced back in 2017, and some 7 years later, all 50 games of UFO 50 are here to play, and Adam has been going through them slowly. You see, while these may look like smaller games as part of a collection, he explains that these are pretty much all fully fledged titles in their own right, with some caveats.
Elsewhere, another game that has been long on the “most wanted” list is here, in the form of The Plucky Squire. Can it deliver on more than looks? Does it live up to the expectations and hope of the team, who have all been dying to play it for what seems like forever?
One thing is for sure, the whiplash between the colourful, bright, cheery aesthetic of The Plucky Squire and UFO 50 and the nature of Frostpunk 2 is something, for sure. Thankfully Chris White is here to talk us through what is a fantastic game, but one you’ll need to be ready for.

After a bit of a hiatus, the podcast is back and the games we have to talk about are an eclectic bunch, really running the gamut.

The safe and nice, peril-free world has them utterly compelled to build forever and more. Could this truly be a Satisfactory beater?
But on the other hand, Chris Hyde has also been banging his head against puzzle game Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, which Adam has also tried, and, well, has given up on, for now. Elsewhere, Animal Well is a new MetroidVania, and it’s got zero combat, so of course Lyle has been all over that one.

On this week’s podcast it’s time to talk about another massive JRPG, as Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is out, and we’ve been playing it.
Adam has played it and seen credits, and has a lot to say, while Lyle is still looking forward to getting into it further after previewing it. Chris Hyde is back this week, and who’d have though it, but he has thoughts on the mathematics at play in the game.
Elsewhere, Lyle and Adam are both rather smitten with the demo build they played of Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, but are also quite sad, since there’s no release date, so they don’t know how long until they can play more. Hydey has also played some of it, but what does he think? Yep, maths again!
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is also out now, and is yet another Metroidvania to add to the immense pile of them that seem to be coming out in 2024. It’s story heavy, but it’s still a lovely responsive fun time.

In fairness, that’s likely because he’s been hammering through Unicorn Overlord, while the rest of us just leisurely enjoy our space farming survival game, Lightyear Frontier. Oh and just in case you’re worried, we won’t be doing spoilers for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on this podcast, so you can listen without fear.

There’s no way they can mess it up, right? You’ve probably read the review already and know it’s good, but play along! Also, Xbox is being left out in the cold as Inkulinati is coming to Game Pass on both console and PC, and Lyle has been playing this strategy game that’s in Preview Programme/Early Access.
Then, of course, there’s the impending release of Season: A Letter to the Future, and the Xbox Developer_Direct, which saw the release of Hi-Fi RUSH, which Adam and Chris White have been playing. It’s a packed podcast, this one!

Chris White is able to talk about the new Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood content now the embargo has lifted, but Adam Cook still can’t stop playing Outriders, and has started a second character on PC to see what the other classes are about.
Chris Hyde has finally finished It Takes Two, so has thoughts on that, but has also played Lost Words: Beyond the Page as well. Mr White also wants tot talk about Ashwalkers, as he’s been playing and has reviewed that.
Will Hydey agree that It Takes Two is “one of the best platformers I’ve played in the last decade”, as Chris White said in his review? Will he bemoan its length given that it’s co-op only? Is it possible that the lads will become obsessed with Elder Scrolls Online because of Blackwood? All of these things could happen, but you’ll only find out if you listen to the podcast. Taking a break from hunting things this week, Adam Cook, Chris White, and Adam Carroll have been spending their time on calmer, more Nintendo-y things. That said, Oddworld: Soulstorm is out, and both Adam Cook and Chris have played a bit of it, while Chris is deep into Nintendo Switch games thanks to the recent sale.
Outriders continues to impress the gang, while Adam Carroll has suddenly become a sports-fan, and is addicted to Mario Tennis Aces, even joining a discord server specifically for that game.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is still keeping people busy, and while Adam Carroll is playing old JRPGs, Adam Cook has started Bravely Default II, though Chris Hyde is still hopelessly addicted to Satisfactory. Thanks to listener correspondence, there was also a discussion about what the team would show to an alien if they happened to land on Earth for a while.

Adam Cook and Chris Hyde have been obsessively playing early access factory builder game Satisfactory, while Mick has been all over that Outriders demo. Obviously we also got some extensive hands-on time with the upcoming title from Hazelight (Josef Fares of the Oscars comment fame) “It Takes Two“, an exclusively co-op game which everyone seems to thoroughly enjoy.
There were also some great questions from our listeners, as the team picked where they’d fit into an RPG party, their favourite arcade memories, and what they’d like to see in Breath of the Wild 2.

Chris Hyde and Adam Carroll are excited about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, and the Mario-themed content coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons is one of the things Chris White is keen to get stuck into. The Project Triangle Strategy reveal is also a highlight for all of the lads. There’s disappointment at the lack of news regarding a Breath of the Wild sequel, and opinions on everything else.
Adam Carroll also shares his thoughts on the Bravely Default II demo, and listener correspondence focuses on surviving a zombie apocalypse, what the best and worse console controllers are, and whether anyone’s gutted about the Hogwarts Legacy delay.
