Welcome to Season Two of OKAY BACK TO ONE!

And hasn't it just been one hellava back to one for all of us?! Nick and I are trying to get back on track with a micro-budget film we've been writing! Once we've shot it, we’re thinking of doing a crowdfunding campaign to raise the money for post. I’ve never crowdfunded so luckily my friend, Kelsey Jonikas, agreed to share what she’s learning running her first campaign right now. I first met Kelsey as the sound mixer on ARMSTRONG and so she’s also going to give us some feedback on WHAT WE GOT WRONG!

KELSEY'S BIO
Kelsey Jonikas is a union boom operator and utility who got her start in the film industry eight years ago as a bag mixer on independent short films and features. Now her resume spans multiple films and TV shows including Netflix's LUCIFER, ATYPICAL, ANIMAL KINGDOM, and GREY'S ANATOMY. In the past few years she has also branched out into the world of screenwriting and is currently in pre-production of her first short film LEVEL ONE.

If you’ve ever been on a film or television set, you’ve probably heard the phrase: BACK TO ONE! Its usually called out when a take didn’t quite go as planned so you want to keep rolling, reset, and take it from the top one more time. It can be frustrating and exhausting to be so close and have to start all over again. But it's also one of my favorite phrases as a director because there’s something so hopeful and resilient and doggedly determined about getting back on that horse to try again. And its a great title for a podcast about how to survive the starts and stops of a Hollywood career!
I'm going to interview industry professionals who’ve found success despite their own “back to ones” and talk to experts in a variety of fields to discover strategies for staying on track and happy in our creative pursuits. I'm also going to chronicle my own process as I leave my job as a television executive and become a full time indie filmmaker. And you can the discussion at OKAY BACK TO ONE on Instagram and Facebook!
