Refuge exists to live, proclaim, and display the glory of God in our city, fuelled by an authentic encounter with the Jesus of the Bible.
You cannot fully love God or know how much God loves you, until you’ve chosen the path of surrendering your rights for others, and ultimately for the Lord.
God has given you liberty, so that you may enjoy him and love others, not so that you may hurt others on behalf of enjoying what God has given.
If biblical truth doesn’t affect your thinking, your living, and your feelings, than something else does. The Gospel doesn’t stop with your salvation; instead, it speaks hope into every situation. God cares about you, and has provided a practical pathway to healing for everyone.
The greatest environment for your spiritual growth, and the greatest impact you will make for the gospel, happens in the very predicament in which God has placed you.
Recognizing the calling that God has for you is the only way you’ll live with purpose and contentment.
Though sex has been exploited in our culture and churches have falsely demonized it, often treating it as dirty and sinful and only useful for procreation, God created sex to bring intimacy, trust, and purity between a husband and wife; displaying a beautiful metaphor of Christ and the church.
Practicing biblical conflict resolution in community is essential evidence that Christ lives in us. When we don’t resolve conflict in the church division occurs; Christians bite and devour one another, and the world mocks our hypocrisy.
Your body was created by God. For this reason, your greatest satisfaction will come from serving him with your body. If you’re in sexual sin, you’re selling yourself out.
If we refuse to participate in biblical reconciliation and refuse to forgive or show mercy, we deny the Gospel by our actions and publicly destroy the witness of the church in the world.
If you seek to elevate, protect, or bring attention to yourself through your achievements, you believe demons and oppose God.
Those who are in Christ for an extended period, but have a life marked by worldly wisdom and ambition, remain babies.

Biblical assurance is granted to those who know Christ. It is revealed by the work of the Holy Spirit in those who are compelled to obey Jesus because of their love and devotion to him. The Holy Spirit gives assurance to those who trust in Jesus alone. He gives the assurance of salvation, the assurance of hope, and the assurance of his power–and it moves them to action.
We’ll never be out of danger until we turn from sin. We’ll never turn from sin until we’re confronted with the severity of it. Due to the deceptive nature of sin, we’ll never confront this reality on our own without the illuminating work of God’s Holy Spirit. For this reason, we must cry out to the Spirit for conviction of sin.
We cannot make anything grow out of our own strength, wisdom, or skill. Lasting fruit is a product of God’s supernatural hand.
If you are in Christ, living in obedience to his Word, he will show up in power and you can expect him to change your life. You don’t have to live in defeat.
This is God’s world, we have destroyed it, and Jesus is the only hope for anyone. He suffered and was killed to save us from sin and he deserves all of our worship. We exist to glorify and worship him. This isn’t a light matter.

Family is not an acceptable idolatry. Following Jesus, by wholeheartedly living for his Kingdom, is best for your family.

Marriage is the means to an end, not an end in itself. Joy in marriage is found as we discover Christ within the institution he has created to point us to him.
Hedonism along with self-preservation is the source of all impurities and destroys Christian unity. It promises joy and satisfaction but doesn’t have the ability to deliver what it claims to offer. True joy and satisfaction comes as we place our lives in the hands of God, whom through Jesus has given us all that we need for life and contentment in him.
The impossible calling to which we are called will take no other than the power of the living God in whom all things are possible; Paul petitions for this power.
The Church is the jewel of God, his precious possession; it is for this Church that Jesus died, and many suffered. It is in this Church that you will know the glory of the living God; cherish it.
Elitism, alienation, and isolation are detestable and unacceptable in the Church. It is by grace that we have been reconciled, not just to God, but also to one another.
The knowledge of Christ has the power to change you, and the world. A healthy church is built upon the knowledge of Christ.
God, in Christ, decided to rescue you from depravity; he did so because he loves you, and so that he may use you in his grand plan of redemption.
