None of us want to believe that nice guys finish last, which is why you should come and join me for this masterclass with Scott Aggett. Scott and I have known each other for a long, long time. Long before I was a business owner, but when he already had been for some time. Scott has had an incredibly successful and varied career for someone as young as he is. Started in the eastern suburbs, where he ran 2 Belle property agencies, followed by a journey into startup land with Hello Haus when a lifestyle change took him to the Gold Coast. Now, he's taking it to the next level with a way of helping people get into the property market that is truly innovative. I've had the opportunity to know Scott personally and also work with him professionally, and I can say this about him as an individual. He is someone who others gravitate towards, a master negotiator and skilled student of human behaviour. One of those entrepreneurs who has done it multiple times, just to prove it's not been fluke, and has a network that puts most of us in the shade. In this Masterclass, Scott and I are going to sit down and talk about everything from * building a successful business in a competitive market, * what it takes to stand out to the people you want to attract, * how to start from the ground up and do something truly innovative, * what master negotiators do differently, and * how to build a world-class network.

What Scott does is truly unique, and that's one of the reasons why, when I wanted to buy my office, he was the first person I called to ask him to close the deal. More than that, every time I speak to him, I learn a little bit more. If you've ever been presented with the idea that nice guys finish last, join me and find out that it's just not the case. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Exploring innovative strategies in technology and general advice to engage clients not ready for full financial advice. For those interested in providing advice in a scalable way to those not ready for full advice, you'll want to hear Nigel Baker tell the story of Scientiam. He's one of a number of people in the industry, myself included, who believe the next major innovative leap forward will come from finding ways to provide advice more scalably across the entire ecosystem, thereby making it more mainstream accessible. Like many who find themselves playing in the innovation space, Nigel's views on where the future lies are driven by his experiences in building a traditional advice practice, which he has done very successfully with Arch Capital. Scientiam, a digital advice platform powered by general advice, is very different from anything else out there and came from what we call in the tech space "scratching your itch", recognising that Arch didn't have an offering for those not yet at a stage in life where financial advice was viable but would benefit from being able to do a few things better. I know this is a hot topic for many businesses out there. Many of you have been looking to solve this problem in numerous ways, from providing education programmes to seeking to streamline, but Scientiam does this in a truly scalable way. Understanding the journey that Nigel and his team have been on to build it, the lessons learned along the way about what does and doesn't work, and, importantly, getting a sense of the kind of add-on solutions that can be available to every practice out there to solve an issue that has prevented more from getting advice will be invaluable. Join us live for this masterclass so you can get involved in the discussion and ask the questions you want. Alternatively, look out for it on the podcast and YouTube the week after.

Kate Shanahan's story is one that spans the globe, and I'd really love you to come along and hear it. Kate is the founder of Brieff.io, a technology platform designed to help advisory firms deliver a better quality business advisory service to their clients. Over the past year and a half, they've been able to roll out the solution to 50 clients, and she's at the cutting edge of the race to implement effective client portals in a business. However, more so than just the solution itself, which is excellent, Kate's story is a classic tale of making a decision to follow the entrepreneurial path rather than the corporate one and overcoming the challenges that any new business start-up must in order to go from zero to one. For those of you who enjoy understanding stories from deep within the belly of the tech start-up experience, this is also going to be a very interesting exploration of what it takes to get traction with your offer, get on a growth path and solve the myriad of issues that arise when you're trying to launch something brand new into an established market. Experience the story and get your questions answered along the way.

Bruce Lee is supposed to have said, "I do not fear the man who knows a thousand punches. I fear the man who has practiced one punch a thousand times..." When it comes to mastering the engagement of new clients, practice absolutely makes perfect. However, you may not be surprised how few take time to hone their skills in a "friendly-fire" environment. In this training, I will show you how to structure your roleplay to make it easier for you to develop the skills needed to improve your new client outcomes. If you have shied away from role-playing in the past or never really known how to approach it in a structured manner, this training will give you the advantage that will lead you to mastery sooner. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

If there's one thing we can all agree on; it's that Elon Musk has made quite an impact on the world.

Poking under the bonnet of his success, you find some traits that can be attributed to at least some of his success. Personally, I'm not quite sure I'd want to be him but I'm pretty sure I'd like to borrow at least some of his ability to get it done. In this training, we're gonna dive into some of the key productivity principles that underline his incredible work ethic. Whilst your goal might not be to run 4 companies at the same time or send someone to Mars, there's plenty that can be applied to your own working style to make it easier to get more done in less time. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Efficiency is a key focus for most practices at the moment, particularly those driven to work with their target market at a price point that works for everyone. In this Masterclass, I'm delighted to speak with David & Leasa McLean of Titan Financial Planning. Based in the NSW Central Coast, this was one of a number of goals we started working towards in 2022, with the goal to be able to create efficiencies in the back office that would reduce cost and capacity pressure, whilst enabling them to grow revenue and work with more clients. Along the way, David & Leasa has undertaken acquisition, wrestled with changes in licensing arrangements and implemented new pricing and service models, which makes what they have achieved all the more satisfying. This Masterclass will be great for anyone keen to get in under the DNA of a growing firm working with "strivers" and unpack what it takes to achieve sustainable growth. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ Join our Free Best Practice Portal here > https://success.audere.com.au/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@stewartbell Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0 #auderecoachingandconsulting #stewbell #practiceevolution #practiceexcellence #finnovator #financialadvice

Generating leads from paid digital advertising has become more of an opportunity than ever before for advice firms, and in this Masterclass we're going to dive into the topic and really explore how to make it work. When it comes to Google Ads, Facebook advertising, SEO, YouTube and more, making this work for your practice hasn't always been easy, which is why I wanted to introduce you to Ilana. Ilana is the founder of Green Arrow Digital and the creator of the Teach Traffic training program. She's been generating ROI for her agency clients for over a decade and, most importantly, she's someone who knows how to do it for advice firms. (Trust me when I say this is not a common thing). Part of the reason for this, beyond being a Data Analyst, is that she spent ten years working in the financial services industry. That means unlike most who do what she does, she actually understands both sides of the equation. Join me for what will be a masterclass and a great way to start the year. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ Join our Free Best Practice Portal here > https://success.audere.com.au/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au

What gets measured… …gets managed What will you get from successfully implementing? In this training, you'll learn how to:* Develop a Clear Framework: Understand and implement a framework that outlines the 8 core functions or departments of a business, clarifying the purpose of their activities. This aids in organisational clarity and effectiveness. * Identify Core Systems: Pinpoint 10-18 essential systems (groups of processes) crucial for the future success of the business. These systems will need to be systematised and have clear ownership. * Define Measurable Outcomes: Establish specific, measurable outcomes for each core system to serve as key metrics for management information. * Foster Team Ownership: Learn strategies to engage and empower your team to take ownership of processes and systems, crucial for scaling and leadership development. * Understand Systemisation: Grasp the importance of systemisation in the growth and scaling of a business, moving from being heavily reliant on the principal to a more distributed leadership model.

This is without doubt one of the most important modules in the program for firms seeking to break through the journey to scale from systemisation to team, to lead and beyond. It’s a truly transformation process. Join me.

When it comes to achieving great financial outcomes, getting started sooner is a major contributor to long-term success. That's why procrastination can be such a dangerous thing when onboarding a new client. Each delay in getting back information, providing paperwork or any of those other small tasks that need to happen to put a plan into action increases the likelihood of advice not being implemented in a timely manner. However, procrastination isn't a simple thing. The root causes are often complex and personal. In this training, I'll share a model for diagnosing the causes of procrastination and importantly help you to identify the best course of action for each specific and often unique situation. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

One of my goals for 2024 is to be able to bring to your attention only the very best fintech and practice tech.In other words, the tools that can help. In late 2022 I sat down with the development team at Atlis Technologies to talk about their all-in-one practice CRM, MOAS. Fifteen months later, they have evolved MOAS to such a degree it's time to talk again. Their development pathway is also an outlier. Where most financial planning software tends to launch lean and with only the most basic functionality, they have already spent over four years launching and evolving this in the Wealthmed business, overcoming the many hurdles that I know those of you with larger, multi-disciplinary businesses will empathise with. What they've developed is a tool that can generate & template advice, track workflow, provide a single source of client data, calculate fees and provide an insightful dashboard of business operations across lead generation, new client engagement, review delivery, revenue trends and compliance. Meanwhile, the team's devotion to UX (user experience) means it is intuitive to use and looks simple. If you'd like to know more about it, you can do so [here] & [here] If you'd like to take a good, long look inside how it's been created, how it works and... why the team can claim it halves the time to deliver advice. The concept of "elite" performers doesn't always sit well with all of us, but in truth, there are those who demonstrate levels consistent levels of performance beyond that of most. That performance can also be at least partly traced back to the certain habits and behaviours those performers embrace more as well. In this training I seek to put aside any preconceptions I have about the idea of "elite", and instead seek to understand what footprints success leaves behind that can be imitated to achieve better outcomes for all. If you're looking for an edge to help you achieve a higher level of success, let's dive into the most common traits that separate high performers from the rest. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Retaining clients is crucial for any successful business, and providing employees with the chance to progress and gain equity ownership is fundamental to developing strong relationships. An effective way to do this is to provide clear development paths for employees with achievable goals and set timelines so they can gain the necessary skills to move forward. Furthermore, having the principal of the business available to mentor and observe personnel can give them further insight into the operations of the company and help them to be successful. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Client experience has emerged as a significant opportunity for advice businesses to differentiate themselves in a market that has been notoriously resistant to differentiation. In this training module, we're going to dive into the nuts and bolts of how to map out your client experience. We'll do a stocktake of all of the client touchpoints available to you and I'll share a number that we have designed and templated over the years. However, the prime output of this will be your ability to map out on a single page the year 1, year 2 and beyond experiences, you aim to deliver to your clients and begin the path to automating, systemizing and delegating the management of this. If you, like so many advice businesses in the industry right now, see client experience as a major opportunity this will provide you with a great foundation to design a 5-star experience. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Traditional business planning is designed for only one (wrong) purpose; giving banks what they need to make lending decisions. Not helpful if what you really want is. a roadmap to achieve your goals! A real "working" plan has a different purpose, and in this training, I'm going to show you how to create a one-page plan that will define clearly not just targets but also what you will do over the course of 12 months to achieve them. A key element of Domino Planning is the approach to implementing projects, and I'm going to share the key insights that led me to adopt and use an approach that insists upon attacking your target projects one-at-a-time. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

We will walk you through our proven formula for priming your pipeline, debrief the year (and clean up all those loose ends), and set yourself up to enjoy the Christmas break totally disconnected from your business. In this session, we'll get stuck into three done-for-you outreach strategies to:* engage any "lapsed" prospects who were silly enough not to engage you when they had the chance, * prime those clients who refer you their friends, family, and colleagues ahead of the social season, and * get in your strategic partners' thoughts for 2023.

Plus we're going to spread a little Christmas cheer to boot. The strategies we'll run through are fast and easy to implement and are almost guaranteed to have prospects booked in your January schedule before we break. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Recruiting can be one of the best decisions you make, or the most costly. A wrong hire can cost a practice $250k in recruitment fees, wages, training time and lost opportunity - and that/s being conservative! This is why when Geoff Smart's book Who: The A Method for Hiring identified in research that 50% of hiring decisions fail, it proved how important it is to get the process right. Thankfully, they also mapped the process that results in a 90% success rate, and in this training, I want to walk you through it. We'll cover:* the process of finding the right person, all the way from the beginning role scoping, * how to conduct interviews the right way, and * how to set the stage for your new hire to be motivated, engaged and ready to perform.

If you've ever got a hire wrong, or you're planning on recruiting soon, having a proven process like this is vital. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Referrals from clients typically account for around a third of most practice's growth. It's equally as true that most advisers exert only minimal control over the quality, quantity and frequency of when referrals happen. In this session, I'd like to share with you the science behind client referrals and, in doing so, some proven methods for being able to generate more "active" referral flow. In doing so, you'll come to understand:* The types of clients who will refer and those who typically don't, can't or won't, * How to get insight into why referrals have happened in the past, to stimulate it to happen more often in the future, * Three different ways to have referrals conversations that don't feel pushy, * The key information to track when seeking to get further valuable insight into what your clients may be telling others about you.

One of the most common reasons clients give for wanting to engage with coaching is to be "kept accountable". Whenever I hear this, I usually push back. Accountability is in many ways a double-edged sword. It absolutely can be the fuel for significant success, but if it's only being done to you it usually ends up feeling much like your mum reminding you to clean your room. Not ideal... The best kind of accountability comes from a mixture of external and internal, and in this training, I'm going to unpack the key insights into what accountability is, how to best leverage it to achieve the best outcomes, and how to ensure that you personally and your team can apply that accountability their own situation without the reliance on external factors If you'd like to build a habit or a culture of getting things done and doing what you say you are going to do, understanding how accountability can help you achieve that will give you a definitive advantage. ==========================================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ Join our Free Best Practice Portal here > https://audere.com.au/practice-success/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/ Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0 #auderecoachingandconsulting #stewbell #practiceevolution #practiceexcellence #finnovator #financialadvicefirms

For some time now there has been a discussion as to whether it might be possible to move to a different way of working than the standard 5-day, 40-hour week. In this module, we're going to unpack a case study of a practice that moved across to a 5 hr advice day. In 2017, collins SBA in Tasmania made the decision to move across to a working system where employees were invited to work 5 hours a day. Be warned though; since this module was created Collins SBA moved back, so in many ways what you will watch here is as much about understanding the challenges that come with trying to adopt new working styles and how it may place different demands on your team. With so many changes to the way we've worked recently and ongoing discussions about how work may need to change in the coming years, this case study may be an important dive into the true learnings from a financial services firm in Australia who made the leap, what they had to change, and what they learnt about the way people work best. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ Join our Free Best Practice Portal here > https://audere.com.au/practice-success/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au

Let's get deep into the topic of building a strong audience in the online space. Whether your platform is Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn or any other platform that enables you to connect with others en masse, the game that you are likely to want to play is called Authority Marketing. This is a well-worn playbook, and in this training, I'm going to lay out the rules of the game if your goal is to put yourself front and centre of an audience who may be seeking out your advice and build a following over the long term. In doing so we're going to unpack some real-life case studies of where authority marketing has been used outside and inside our industry, to show how this works in practical terms. This isn't a module for everyone. However, if you want to go to the next level with your digital marketing and build a personal and business brand known far and wide, this is a great introduction to the marketing you will need to master to make it happen. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ Join our Free Best Practice Portal here > https://audere.com.au/practice-success/

Back in 2018, I read a book that changed my view of how to approach business planning forever. That book was called The One Thing by Gary Keller. Before TOT, I'd approached planning like many people did, identifying the two or three projects I would try and get done over the next 3 months. After TOT, I realised that this was not the best way to achieve results and instead a more focused approach was born. If like me you've tried many many ways of becoming more productive and still find yourself looking for something that is both effective and simple , this session will give you insight into how choosing to focus on fewer things can be the answer to getting more done. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSp3JMJqlQj8_71bYXFx80LK8hIkGq9lx Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0

This training was created at a time when cash flow coaching was becoming an increasingly attractive proposition for certain types of advice businesses working with certain types of clients. Despite what was at the time a belief need for this service, in truth coaching and advice are sufficiently different enough to justify a deeper look into what it takes to deliver a profitable and sustainable proposition in this coaching space. One of the most important elements we explored was also pricing. Of all the misjudgments businesses can make when it comes to financial coaching, what to charge is a big one. That's why in this session we cost it out exactly what it would take to deliver this proposition to the end-client. If you considered offering financial coaching to clients, you'd like to or you've had a crack at it but couldn't quite work out where it didn't work for you, this training may give you a really good insight into what it takes in order to be able to offer this service and, importantly, who it is best done for and who most definitely shouldn't be your coaching client. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/ Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0 #auderecoachingandconsulting #stewbell #practiceevolution #practiceexcellence #finnovator #financialadvice #endingtheyear

Each year at the end of every year, I run a series of three training sessions with program members to help them finish the year on a high. The truth is the training is more about starting the new year fast and enjoying some well-earned time off! One of the key habits is a focus on end-of-year engagement. In this training, I'll unpack the marketing you can do as the year comes to an end to existing clients, partners and importantly "lapsed" prospects who may have engaged with you but not moved forward. In doing so, I'll show you how end-of-year engagement can be one of the best opportunities to set up the perfect start to the coming new year.

Sometimes it's hard to know what to focus on first, which is where this training may come in useful. The Eisenhower Matrix was created by President Eisenhower (yes, the very same) as a means of prioritising. It's a habit that I've found very useful to apply whenever I have a long list of tasks that need to get done, or when I need to delegate but I'm not clear about what to hand over first. If you can see value in a habit to help you get clear on where to spend your time, the Eisenhower Matrix could be the missing piece in your productivity puzzle. ======================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au

Sam Carroll has passed many milestones on his path to growing Talem Wealth.

He’s transitioned from an old way of doing things to the new, invested time and effort into systemising to create a highly profitable operation, and is one of a new breed of practices partnering to form a new type of Licensee - in this case, Walker Lane - based more on common purpose rather than brand.

That's not to say there haven't been a fair few challenges. Like most advice firms over the past five years, they've been battered by legislative change, lockdowns, resourcing and more, so there's plenty to talk about.

In this session we'll explore:* How they have focused on creating systems that allow them to deliver valuable advice and be profitable enough to reinvest in growth, * The transitions they've made and how they approached them, * How the Walker Lane alliance came into being and why they believe this model has worked for them, * Where they see the industry headed for firms who want to stay deliberately boutique and how they're facing the future.

This Masterclass will be a boon for anyone on their own growth journey to building a small but highly profitable practice. ==========================================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/ Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0 #auderecoachingandconsulting #stewbell #practiceevolution #practiceexcellence #finnovator #financialadvice

Are small financial advice practices becoming obsolete? In this episode of The Finnovator, business coach Stewart Bell explores the trend of small practices being acquired by larger firms. While challenges exist, Stewart believes that the era of the small practice is not at an end. With a focus on specialization, niche offerings, and profitability, small practices can still thrive in the industry. Discover why size doesn't determine success in this thought-provoking episode of The Finnovator. ====================================================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/ Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0

The first 90 days of you working with a client provide you with the opportunity to do a number of things that will have huge benefits to your business over time. It's during this time that clients are in their most receptive phase. They've engaged with advice, feel positive about the decision they've made, and in many ways are malleable to being taught the best way to work with you. In this training, I will unpack:* how to ensure during this initial period you can teach clients how to engage with you best, * inform them of what they need to know when they need to know it, * and importantly excite them about the journey ahead.

If you'd like to be able to roll out the red carpet to your new clients every single time and set yourself up for an outstanding relationship with advice, this training will lay out exactly how to do it. ============================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/ Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0 #auderecoachingandconsulting #stewbell #practiceevolution #practiceexcellence #finnovator #financialadvice #clientonboarding

When it comes to your clients, I want you to be their primary source of financial information and insight without that having to mean 100 phone calls every month! In this training module, I'll show you how to craft a marketing and communications system that enables you to deliver high-value personal content to existing clients on a regular basis. I will show you how to step away from the newsletter-style approach that simply doesn't deliver anything like the value you're capable of. If (like many) you've found not knowing how to approach it, what to write about and how to structure the content as being something to hold you back, I'd like to fix that. I'm going to show you how to deliver great content to your existing clients in a fraction of the effort that you may have previously had to expend. Every business should have a complete marketing system. ========================================================To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/ To know more about what I do, visit our website: https://audere.com.au Follow me on:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financial-planning-business-coach/Twitter: https://twitter.com/stew_bellInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stew_bell/ Listen to The Finnovator Podcast oniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-finnovator/id1506529719Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5cbeOMTo7bLFbHJlmFOPad?si=cb95b6b6bb734bc0

Back in 2015 when I first connected with a UK adviser by the name of Alan Smith (Capital Asset Management), there is no way I could have foreseen the scale of what we would come to discuss in this latest Masterclass. Now approaching 20 years as principal of Capital Asset Management, Alan has done what many advisers aspire to; to create a business that runs without the need for him to be at the coalface providing advice. It is however what he’s done with the time he’s created for himself that is equally as impressive, building up a following of 11k with a systematic approach to creating engaging content that generates a lead per week, and being behind two finance Podcast; Bulletproof Entrepreneur & The Real Adviser Podcast (TRAP). In this Masterclass, I’m delighted to sit down with Alan and unpack how he engineered the practice that gives him the freedom to focus on marketing and the methods he used to build the kind of digital presence that very few advisers have been able to achieve. Join me live for this or in the event the antipodean-aligned timing doesn’t work for you, don’t you dare miss the replay on The Finnovator podcast.

To me, it seems like only yesterday that XY Adviser - now Ensombl - changed the way the financial services industry engaged. In truth, it’s been nine years, and in this Masterclass I’ll be speaking to founder Clayton Daniel about the journey to date and what’s coming next. Clayton is someone I’ve always loved speaking to. The background to this involves an aborted attempt to have lunch at a local pub, but that's a story for another time... Whether you're looking to get clients to provide information more easily, improve turnarounds and decrease the time it takes to get things done for new and existing clients or just make processes run more smoothly, how to go about doing it is a key question to start with. In this session, drawn from my coaching program curriculum, I'd like to walk you through how I approach optimising processes with my clients including:* The five strategies that are the foundation of all improvements, * What can and can't be most easily handed off or outsourced, * The key mistakes to avoid making when approaching this.

As always if you enjoy the podcast, please take a moment to leave a five-star review and let others know who The Finnovator is best listening for. Join me and I'll introduce you to ways to improve efficiency you may never have even considered.

Websites are something people can have a bit of a love-hate relationship with.

There's always the question of:
- what do you put in it,
- which platforms you use,
- how do you get the copyright
and all those other questions that can leave you stalled.

That's my aim to answer all of them at this webinar.

I'll be showing you the one thing that you must have on your website. Otherwise, it's really no point having it. The flow and formula to getting your content and copy correctly. And I'll be answering a bunch of questions from:
- what plugins to use
- what platform, and
- how much you should really be spending.

I ran this webinar because websites are just one of the things that you can't get away with not having any more but not having a good one can be just as difficult.

I’ve decided to take the Podcast in a new direction

They’ll still be the same interviews with amazing people we’ve done since 2020, but I’ve decided I want to share what I’ve been developing as a coach in terms of training content more widely.

If you like where we’re heading - and I hope you do - I’d love it if you could do me a favour and leave a review of the podcast along with a comment about your experience listening to The Finnovator and who you’d advise to listen to it.

There are some presenters you will always stay until the very last session of a conference to see, and Stephen Prendeville is one of those people. To present Stephen as someone who helps practice owners buy or sell businesses is to explain only a fraction of what makes him such a fountain of insight. His career started in banking then stockbroking in the 1980s, before he became Australia's youngest certified investment planner in '87. He's headed up a dealer group, then funds management. Finally, after a stop along the way at Deloitte's, he started down the path that he's perhaps best known for today, eventuating in the founding of Forte Asset Solutions and 16 years facilitating the sale of over 150 FP businesses in Australia. In truth, what makes Stephen such a fascinating person to be able to speak with is the clarity with which he's able to see the true path the industry is on and, often by drawing upon key data, outline with apparent ease what the future holds for those who want it, and what to avoid. I'm delighted to be able to spend an hour diving into all things value, the future and, of course, the lessons learned in his own epic journey to date. Stories of advisers who "scratched their own itch" and ended up building tech solutions that offer something for other businesses too always interest me, which is why I wanted to sit down and explore Martin Morris's. Being an adviser and founder of My Financial Mentors is just one hat Martin has chosen to wear. More recently, he's taken a tool that was once part of his own advice process and turned it into a "hub" solution for advisers wanting to centralise multiple engagement functions in one, secure portal - called Engagement Hub - as well as finding himself in demand in the coaching space for advisers in South Africa wanting to adopt more of the methodology behind it. For all the output at the end of it, it's the journey behind it that I think has all sorts of lessons to impart about how advice firms* can build their own tech, * believing in your own methodology and * all the many inputs and insights along the way that have led to the solution.

If you're looking for a bit of end-of-year inspiration about what's possible when it comes to creating your own tools and tech solutions, join myself and Martin for this one. Some time ago, I drew a picture for a friend of mine outlining the four pillars that contribute to practice success. It might not surprise you to learn that one of those pillars was licensing.   In this Finnovation Masterclass, I'll be joined by someone I know very well to have a conversation that I've never had before.   Rachel Bell is a Sydney-based PDM/ Business Coach with Affinia, who brings to the table a wide range of experience as an adviser, BDM, PDM, and a bunch of other roles in the industry that give her a uniquely wide perspective many others don't have.   In this session: * we'll dive deep into the evolution of the licensee relationship as it relates to your business success. * we'll pinpoint the kind of businesses that are best suited to using third-party licensing and how certain firms are able to craft a supportive and successful relationship with licensees where others simply aren't or don't * we'll also explore some of the "behind-the-scenes" aspects of providing the services practices like yours rely on, and talk at length about the potential future of licensing that are playing out as we speak.

Join us for what promises to be a detailed look at the cutting edge of the role licensees do play in the current shifting industry landscape and where that may head in the coming years.     To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

We've had the opportunity to see many different types of advice models down the years as part of this podcast, but even now after all these years it still impresses me when practitioners make a way of operating truly theirs.   In this Finnovation Masterclass, you're invited to tune in as myself and Sacha Burchgart explore what it is about her practice Burcheart Financial that has seen her consistently grow her practice with great clients despite no formal marketing.   At the core of it lies a methodology that uses cash flow analysis and scenario modeling to drive changes in client behaviour and decision-making at a day-to-day level. If this sounds like cashflow coaching, be assured it absolutely isn't, and we'll dive into how and where it differs (and why it works where the former often doesn't).   We'll also cover how: * she's made the delivery of a Strategy Paper an in-demand advice offering in its own right * she's seeking to evolve what's developed into a high-touch service model into her next phase of growth.

This will prove to be a very insightful journey into a business model that we're likely to see much more of in the future.     To learn more, join our list and get the latest best practice insights in your inbox every fortnight > https://audere.com.au/blog/

Continuing our theme of 2022 in looking deeper into the technology solutions available to advice firms in 2022, my guest in this Masterclass is someone who will be known to many of you.   To say Dan has quite a pedigree in financial services would be an understatement. He's held a number of roles at a variety of well-known financial institutions, but the tech journey begins in 2004 with a tool those of you may recall called OLICC.   For the last decade-and-a-bit though his passion has been split between supporting growth in training organisations with Weworkbook, and helping advisers achieve greater efficiency with Worksorted.   If you know the latter name but not the tool itself, what you need to know is it's one of a number of software tools seeking to solve the operational challenges faced by advice businesses in a slightly different way to others.   In this Masterclass, we'll dive deep into: * the story behind Worksorted * provide insight into the issues it's focused on helping practices address * the tech stack it works best with

If you've wondered what's out there but struggled to get to the heart of whether Worksorted is right for you, lend me an hour and I'll give you back the insight you need.

In the second of our relaunched Finnovation Masterclass series, I'm joined by Ashley Mahadeea of Advice Intelligence.     Advice Intelligence is one of what I'd call one of the bigger fringe players in the practice technology space. Growing but not yet where the team is aiming to take it.     In the tech world though, Advice Intelligence has all the markings of a future star: well-funded, great team and a clear vision of a software solution that can do it all in a way that is looking to the future rather than the past.     If you're the kind of practice whose value is aligned with how much more effectively you can help clients make faster progress, then your ethos will be aligned with their approach.     If you see the future of client engagement as being portal-centric, ditto.     In this session, Ash and I will dive into: * the genesis of the Advice Intelligence platform, * the specific practice issues they've set sight on solving, * who AI is built for and the kind of business model someone seeking their solution will be looking for.

If you've ever wanted to look beyond the tech you know, peer into the team behind the name and understand whether AI is something to consider at a deeper value, ethos and business model level, join Ash and me as we go deep.

In the very first of our relaunched Finnovation Masterclass series, I'm joined by Taylor Bindon of MOAS.     When it comes to financial planning software there are many tools that start with the aim and claim to be able to do it all. Interestingly, there are few that start with the eventual aim to be able to do it all but the initial intention to do a few things brilliantly.     I first met Taylor personally once he and his team had successfully implemented MOAS into one of my client's business to bring down the total time required to deliver Review documentation to just over an hour. Their next goal is to get it under.     This approach to growing a tech solution - by focusing on the most doable problems first - is something that flies to the heart of why tech companies grow fast and often outmanoeuvre better-funded competitors, and why I want to share with you the story (and keep an eye on what's coming next).     For those of you challenged to get Statements of Advice out or find a way of making them look like something other than a legal contract, what they're doing now may not be as interesting as what comes next.     In this session, Taylor and I will be discussing a range of areas of their growth path, including how MOAS came about: - The team behind it and why their complimentary skillset is so important for any tech success story - The specific problems they took aim and how they've solved them - The kind of practice who would benefit from their solution and why MOAS does and doesn't replace/ compliment.   This is a chance to see into something very new outside of what most of us know within practice technology and I hope you can join us.

I'd like to invite you to join Daryl La'Brooy (Hillross St Kilda) and me for a Masterclass session all about how to do a pricing transition most effectively.   I've had the great pleasure of working with Daryl, Kirsten, Steven & the team these past months and this is a story I really wanted to share with you.   If you have yet to meet Daryl, let me be the first to introduce you to someone who as well as being a very switched on business owner, published author and someone I could talk with for hours, is also a very fine adviser indeed. When we first met, the conversation followed a very familiar path that's become common these past years.   Whilst diagnosing the many opportunities for us to work together to improve, optimise and fix certain areas of the business, one key issue shone like a beacon.   Pricing.   In this Masterclass, we're going to dive deep into how Daryl and the team approached their transition from a very specific angle.   One of a number of impressive talents Daryl has is his ability to identify very clearly the value that advice provided has added to clients. We're talking about the kind of "you-started-here-and-now-you're-here" analysis that he's able to do, in detail, at the drop of a hat.   It's proven very helpful when talking fees with clients and standing firm on value (not that it's been much of an issue most of the time), and just one small part of how after six months of working on his transition he's already successfully closed 50% of what was identified as a quarter of a million-dollar profit gap.   It's a great case study to understand for anyone who wants to get into the nitty-gritty of how a successful transition can be done with intensity, as well as the value of advice over time as explained by someone who is absolutely clear on it.   Join us, come with questions, and leave with insight.

For most practice owners, technology presents a challenge to be overcome.   Maybe it’s about wanting to nail your processes, but not being able to get your workflow threads set up the way you wish they could be.

You’d love to be able to generate presentation-ready advice documents but you end up having to edit everything first.

Perhaps the goal is email automation, but the system just won’t bend to your will.

On a recent Leveraged Advice Firm program training session all about systems the commonly heard complaints about software came up, yet one person had a different story to tell, which is why I wanted to spend some time unpacking what allowed Rowland Financial to make their technology work FOR them.

Apart from a commitment as a team to finding the solution, part of the reason is that Debbie French not only has been given the opportunity to apply her software skills and systems thinking but that their attitude to leveraging tech is measuredly different, resulting in some extraordinary results.

Direct Dragan dictation of file notes directly in the CRM, automated outbound emails to book Reviews and a fully operational workflow tracking system is just the tip of the iceberg. If practice efficiency is your interest, this is a story you may want to eavesdrop on.

Debbie and I covered • the specifics of what she and the team at Rowfin do differently, • what they’ve been able to build and • how you can change your relationship with your practice’s technology for the good.

Michael Lawes is someone with whom I share a common passion for coaching advisers. Whenever we get together, we can spent 40 mins or more of the meeting talking about our latest great reads, or what's working best, and find ourselves almost forgetting the reason we were meeting altogether.

As National Manager of Business Coaching at Affinia he leads a team that firmly believe that a significant part of the role of a Licensee is to work with practices on the business of advice, as well as all the other elements that make up the modern Licensee offering.

In this session, we tag teamed to dive deep on what a sustainable service offering looks like as we move into the next phase of advice business, and how practices can make the transition with more confidence.

At some point in time, every advice firm reaches a point where the next stage in its development requires someone to be focused on growing the operational "muscles", which is why I wanted to share this with you.

Angela Laughlin of BBB Partners is that person and it's no exaggeration to say is one of the most effective Practice Managers I've worked with.

In this episode of The Finnovator, she shared the lessons she's learnt about managing a practice and taking it to the next level. If you run a practice, this advice is what you'll appreciate having heard.

With a lot of firms back on a growth footing, I wanted to share a very relevant, topical and recent conversation with someone who knows a lot about finding, hiring and retaining the very best people; Alisdair Barr

Alisdair is the founder and driving force behind Strider. His mission over these past years has been helping advisers to help more clients by solving the resource constraints that hold them back. He's done this by helping to master the art of finding great people and, through the right mentoring and training, turning them into superstar team members.

This is a topic close to my heart, as the search for the perfect, fully-formed staff member - the Unicorn - is often something that ends up being a search without end, and ironically the slower route.

In this session, we unpacked what he's learned about finding, hiring and developing the right staff, the mistakes made along the way and some valuable insight into how to ensure your business can get the best out of your people and grow to become a force for providing great advice to more people.

If the name Fox & Hare isn't familiar to it, you must have been truly "head down, bum up" in 2019.

In what seemed like an extraordinarily short period of time Jessica Brady & Glenn Hare caught the attention of the industry and their target market with a mastery of messaging, mission, and branding that drew in prospects and maybe even put more than a few noses out of joint.

At this Masterclass though we'll be covering very different ground.

We'll be exploring - if you'll excuse the band analogy - what happens when your first album is a hit and it's time to write the second, including: - How to manage/ keep up with the demands of rapid growth, - How to find and manage the staff needed and learn fast, - How they've set the business up to deliver on a proposition that got traction fast, - How they've approached investing for growth.

...and more. As you know, Masterclasses are about unpacking the story, wherever it may take us.

If you're a business that's seen growth and wondering what the next phase looks like, or you're interested in hearing about how to deal with a business that is changing fast in an already fast-changing environment, this is one not to miss.

If you REALLY want to know how to 10x the impact you can have on your clients financial decisions, read on. This is one story you need to hear.

In 2013, I was not feeling great. I weighed too much, my diet was terrible and my relationship with exercise was at an all-time low.

In a flash of destiny, I signed Rachel and I up for a one-month deal with Original Bootcamp in Coogee.

Little did I know how influential this decision would be.

The catalyst for one of the most significant transformations in my life was two people; Jim "Chief" & Emilie “Gunny" Brabon. These two are legends in the fitness industry, thought-leading "sweatpant millionaires", two of Australia's leading Ultra Marathon runners and Under Armour ambassadors.

What's this got to do with advice, you ask? Here's what.

They worked out the formula for getting better results via a community than anyone ever could 1:1.

Join me for this and you will learn:

How they went from selling programs for Fitness First to having 40 locations nationwide. What they know about group mentality that others simply don't get, and how it fuelled their scaling Bootcamp fast to 40 branches nationwide (and can do the same for your client base) The marketing secrets that allow them to have utterly personal and warm relationships with every member of their community, even as it grew into the thousands through their online 8 Weeks To Wow program.

...and that's just for starters. If you want to create an advice firm that's built on the principle of getting your clients a result, you need to be able to influence at a deep level their behaviour.

If you want to create a firm that does this at a scale that enables you to have impact AND grow a profitable business, you need to understand the dynamics of a community.

If you're going to do this, learning from the best is a shortcut that works. In Chief and Gunny, trust me, there is no-one better.

Naomi Christopher is one of the most gifted marketers in the financial advice industry, and in this episode of The Finnovator I wanted to share the Masterclass she delivered at our live program workshop The Excelerator on digital marketing.

There are many who are good at marketing and many who understand the nuances of the advice proposition but finding those who understand both really, really well is rare, which is why this episode is packed with value for anyone seeking to understand how to market themselves better. Enjoy!

I have a confession to make, which is why this episode of The Finnovator is going to be a little different.

When I started Audere, speaking was a big part of getting the early word out about how the path I was taking in working with advice firms was different. One thing that got attention was my ability to run sessions exploring the apps and other tech that advisers should know about.

Now, after 5+ years working in the space, I've come to realise the truth, that showering people with information about apps alone can in fact be one of the worst things of all, and so I wanted to share what works instead.

Jason and Michael Chew from Orange Wealth are two former clients who started their business a little differently.

At the start of most firms journey, there usually isn't room for anyone who isn't directly capable of generating revenue. Well, this is where Jason and Michael's plan differed, as from day one Jason's role was to advise, with Michael on board to focus down on process design, staff management and marketing.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we talked everything from lessons learned from client engagement, systemising, outsourcing, technology and a whole bunch more.  If you're interested in the progressive financial advice proposition for Gen X, this is a chance to hear from two people who have implemented really, really effectively.

I've pulled this episode from the archives because the lessons around how to become an authority in your chosen community are more relevant than ever, whether it's a locality, niche or your own slice of the internet.

Charles' practical tips on how he managed to grow his practice, personal brand and ultimately lead to award recognition are well-worth hearing, as is the story behind it all. Enjoy!

When Zuraida Ariffin cleaned up at the 2018 IFA Excellence Awards with not only the Innovator Award but the overall individual Excellence awards, the cheer in the room was the loudest of the night. With good reason. Zuraida's commitment to doing advice very differently is worthy of recognition.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we dive deep into Zuraida's about her unique way of working with clients, an approach she calls "Deep Strategic Planning". What makes this special is the depths to which she goes to ensure that each and every piece of advice is backed by deep exploration into what's going on, what's needed and modelling at length the outcomes of it all.

Along the way, we also talked about staffing, pricing, systems, technology, outsourcing, the kind of clients she works with and how she's risen to the challenge of providing her style of award-winning advice.

In the mid-2000s, Hans Egger had an idea for improving the way clients engaged with advice. So, he released a presentation and set his business on a path to leveraged income.

His story was so compelling that when I was thinking of the best intro for my book, Finnovation, the Astute story seemed like the logical choice.

Since then, the success of Astute Wheel has continued and I felt that reviewing the lessons learnt from the interview with Founders Hans Egger and Michael Topper might be an interesting look back, but what I found is the lessons they shared with me those years ago are just as relevant today as they were then.

I hope you enjoy this episode of The Finnovator from the archives and it inspires you to find your own "Astute Idea".

Whether it's due to a desire to be self-licensed, making the choice to switch or being forced to by the close of a dealer group, it can be a stressful, complex and fatiguing experience with many decisions to make. That's why I wanted to share this.

I'm joined by three advisors (Matt Bruce, Geoff Whiddon & James Williamson) who have been through the experience of the last 12 months for all three of those reasons.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we explored how to decide whether to stay or go, assess your options, prepare to transition, the pitfalls to watch out for and, maybe most importantly, how to manage the change personally.

I hope it helps you to make the right decision for yourself, your clients and your practice.

In this episode of The Finnovator I wanted to take a slightly different tack, and share two things that I learnt at the beginning of the year.

The first was a lesson on the importance of being willing to ask questions instead of assuming that you have to work it out, resulting in me fulfilling a long-held ambition of running a workshop at Bridgeclimb Sydney.

The second is about what that experience solidified in the minds of participants about the two key factors that provide the core framework for designing and delivering a client experience that will make your business become a client satisfaction and retention machine.

Pivot Wealth. Fox & Hare. If those names are familiar to you, how about the Wealth Network? For some of you yes, but if not there's a success story that you'll want to hear.

In 2016, Dean Holmes having already built a successful practice in Absolute Wealth set sights on a new challenge. His plan? Create a startup incubator for advice firms, taking the expertise and know-how that had helped them succeed, adding the right young advisers into the mix and growing next-gen practices from scratch.

Four years later the "experiment" has succeeded - Pivot was the first, Fox & Hare the second - and primed for more, but what's most interesting about this story is the contrarian approach.

Instead of controlling the brand and marketing like traditional Licensees, Wealth Network focuses on ambitious individuals who can attract clients and build networks, and helps build the operational side. Which is what makes this such an amazing "Intel Inside" story.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we unpacked it all; the idea, the iteration, the wrong turns and what went gloriously right, and a model that I feel we'll all be hearing a lot more from in the coming years.

Most of us who've worked in the industry will know a bit or two about niching, the idea that gearing your business up to work with a specific market with a specific proposition and putting a whole lot into it is a route to fast growth.

Still, it's something that often gets challenged, and that's why I wanted to share this.

In the businesses I've worked with who target a specialist space, I think Wealthmed are one of those who have really put their head down more than most, and two principals who drive the business, Scott and Carolyn, are really very special people. Entrepreneurial, driven but most of all, really great to work with and full of business acumen and in this episode of The Finnovator, I'm went deep with them on what the specialist game means.

They've also got a really interesting approach to technology, team, and branding that has really put them on the cusp of not just having a great business but having a really significant footprint in their market.

If you are interested in what niching looks like when you've been doing it well for a number of years, how to take your business from being a firm to a really strong brand and the mistakes to avoid when working in a specialist market, this should be extremely enlightening.

Reuben Zelwer is one of a number of advisers I I feel genuinely blessed to have worked with. As well as being an award-winning adviser, he's also one of those people who spends his time thinking about his clients and their situations more than most. It's not just a job for him, it's something he takes personally.

When he embarked on solving the issue of how to market Adapt Wealth better, he asked similar questions we all do. What's the best medium? How to get it out there? What should be his message? How to make it effortless?

This journey has lead to a place where he found his voice. As the host of the Finance Hour radio program and Podcast, Reuben has built a body of intellectual property and an audience based on simply being himself and sharing his expertise.

In this episode of The Finnovator, I chatted to Reuben about what he's learnt in making it happen, the behind the scenes systems he's built to make it simple, how he's approaching leveraging it all and the challenges along the way.

If you'd like to get insight into how to expand your marketing efforts into spaces few advisers are playing in, as well as understanding the nuances of how to structure your output and focus on connecting your expertise with the right audience, you should find this enlightening.

If you haven't heard from Kim of 9Rok; she's one of those people that just has the ability to pinpoint what it is about you, your business and what you do that makes the difference.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we talked about her work with what she's called her "Value Formula"; four steps she takes clients through to have them mastering their own value proposition.

With all that's going on in the industry, I think the hour spend with Kim will be a real boost for anyone looking to get really really clear on how to respond to that question "What is it you do that makes such a difference?".

In this episode of The Finnovator, I chatted to Chris about - how he built his business Warrringal FS to run without the need for him to see clients, - his dedication to systemising everything and making XPlan dance to his own tune, - what he's learnt along the way from being part of the industry over the last three decades.

Rhett Das is one of a new breed of compliance experts in our industry, operating in the independent space and working with businesses who want to know not just about licensee standards, but about the broader legislative framework.

If that all sounds a bit dry, it needn't be because Rhett is also an expert on charting the middle way for businesses; that beautiful sweet spot between running a highly profitable business, and also making sure that you're taking all the boxes when it comes to the requirements.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we covered: - The evolution of compliance. - What's going on with ongoing service models, and - Questions to help to clarify exactly what is the status quo when it comes to being able to navigate the compliance landscape and come out smelling of roses.

I feel like I've known Greg Cook for at least as long as I've been an independent consultant, both in speaking with him at the time and having the opportunity to work with him.

But the one thing I know about Greg is not only is he a very successful business owner. There's a certain way that he does it and it seems at times effortless, although I'm sure it's not.

In this episode of The Finnovator, I talked to Greg about the lessons he's learned in punching through what I would call the dangerous middle, that space that advice businesses can get stuck in between having a lifestyle business and having a truly large multi-staff and scalable firm.

Everything from: - delegating to staff - Getting your pricing right  - M&A and business valuations  - And most importantly, how the journey has changed for him as he's gone from small business to medium business. and now to where he is.

If you're interested in understanding the path that lies between a small business, and something truly great this will be a real doozy.

Paul Feeney is someone whose counsel I really value. If you don't know him by name, you may know about his creation, Map My Plan, which was one of the first fintech tools to play in the self-service advice space.

And when I say "self service", I"m not talking about robo advice investment managers pretending they're full advice, I"m talking about giving people the tools to literally create their own compliant financial plan.

But what I loved about talking to Paul wasn't just his experiences with success in social media (which he talked openly about), or successfully gettting ASIC to change it's directives about online advice, it's the passion he has for what we all want to see; advice becoming more accessble for more people.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy talking to Paul.

Outsourcing parts of your advice firm to others who can do it well so you can focus on what you do best is big business these days, and few are as big as Virtual Business Partners.

One of those behind VBP is David Carney, and he'll be my guest on this episode of The Finnovator we explored how he's built an outsourcing company of such significant size, specifically to support great advice.

The range of services he provides extends beyond just VA, paraplanning and admin support, to cover areas like document production, marketing, and a whole host more, so we talked about how he's made it work at scale, so you can do the same.

If you are a user of outsourcing, or someone who wants to make it work, or want to know a bit more about the landscape as it exists in the Philippines and Cebu in particular, I think you can't help but find some gold in here.

Have you ever met somebody who just seems to be so successful across such a number of different areas that you're intrigued at how they got that way?

Andrew Rocks is someone that is best described as a polymath of the financial planning business.

When I flew to the Philippines last year, Andrew was one of the first person I spoke to at the event and it opened up a conversation that seems to just go so many places.

He's been a successful financial planning entrepreneur in many ways. He's deeply involved in software, plays the guitar and a whole bunch more. I just knew that when it comes to how to build an advice business that is highly valuable at scale and understand what's going on at the cutting edge of tech advice, Andrew is just one of those persons that it pays to listen to.

In this episode of The Finnovator, we dived deep on all of those topics and more. Enjoy!

In June I'll have the pleasure of working with the team at Netwealth to run a second webinar with them, but I wanted to share the results from our last session, all about that key issue I love to work with firms on; building a scalable model.

The session attracted an awesome audience of 170, and we went deep on why financial professionals have so much to leverage from applying a 'Silicon Valley mindset' when it comes to finding those big ideas to help efficiently scale practices.

Topics covered included: - How to outsource via freelancers and virtual assistants. - Creating a better on-boarding sequence - Strategies to construct more scalable service offers. - Setting up better record keeping methods. - How to start using technology and stop technology using you.

For those of you within our Leveraged coaching program, you'll recognise some of the key concepts. For the rest of you, I hope you enjoy this episode of The Finnovator.

If you've ever doubted whether social media can generate new business for advice firms, Daniel Brown is about to blow those thoughts into last week.

As Founder, CEO and award-nominated adviser at Newcastle Financial Planning Group, Daniel isn't a marketing consultant with great ideas. He's a practitioner who built his practice from the ground up and made a call very early on that he would be the one to mastering the marketing game.

And master it he has.

When we caught up in Cebu, very early on in the conversation I realised that I was talking to someone who had two extremely valuable skillsets: understanding the business of advice and understanding how to market it online.

The results speak for themselves. In the last 12 months alone, his marketing efforts - spanning weekly content marketing (blogs), marketing with strategic partners, rebranding, Adwords and more - have resulted in 122 new clients and $1.2m in revenue.

In this episode of The Finnovator, Daniel and I explored how he did it, by talking what it is he does differently that has made such a significant difference and the secrets to mastering one of the most important skills any adviser ready to make the mindset shift to entrepreneur-who-happens-to deliver-great-advice must make.

What would you do if you wanted to master something in a short space of time? If your answer is to do more of it as soon as you can, you'll be thinking the way James Williamson was when he decided to become Master of his Review system.

Some people might look for help to deliver 160 reviews in 12 months, but Millhaven head honcho James Williamson took a different tack and designed, implemented and optimised a way of making his Review process not just an experience that clients wanted to be involved in, but something where much of the backstage work was done by others.

In this episode of The Finnovator James and I explore how he: - Built his repeatable Review process to be an experience that enabled him to deliver high impact financial insight to his clients. - How he structured the setup and packup process to hand off to his pit crew. - The technology he used to enable it all and the models and frameworks that helped.

We'll also dive into the detail around how he increased total business revenue by 15% whilst doing it and got back 2 hours a week.

If you're ready to master your Review, then come get insight from someone who already has.
