Vanessa

I love helping ambitious moms who manage chronic pain, like myself, master their mindset so they can show up fully & authentically in their lives. I strive to create easily digestible content that is specific to parenting with chronic pain. These resources are designed to cut through the overwhelm, and help you manage the small stuff so you can tackle the bigger things [like pursuing your dreams, passions, and projects.]

What is selfcare Sunday?

I'll give you a hint, it's not a day full of spa treatments.

Hit play to hear what I do (and plan for) once a week to ensure I get time for ME and shit still gets done.

Cheers!

Hey there!

I'm so excited to have had the opportunity to get to know Vanessa better. Listen in as we discuss all things selfcare, and keep an eye out for part two!

ABOUT VANESSA

*I come from a family of diverse family of 6. With my parents being foster parents and adopting two children in the process to say our house hold was chaotic is an understatement. But something I would never change. I got two amazing sisters and cared for all the children that came into our house as family. Empathy was something installed in me from a very young age as my parents were always exhibiting it greatly.

I’m a mom of a very busy, determined, creative 4 year old and spunky, funny and joyful 3 year old.

I grew up a athlete and still consider myself one. I played many sports but soccer most competitively. I think this has a lot to do with the person I am and who I’ve been. I’m married, going on 7 years. I met my husband in high school and I still feel the same feeling I had when we first met. I work for a family owned and operated fruit farm and apple packing plant. I work closely with our employees and foreign workers. I do the social media for our packing plant, Ocean Crisp Apple Company. I believe I live in the most beautiful place, I literally have this thought everyday. I am so grateful.*

I know I've wondered this throughout my life, and it's left me feeling helpless.

It wasn't until I'd worked in healthcare for nearly a decade and realized that the one thing that I did on a regular basis that made the BIGGEST difference in the lives of others was to be kind and empathetic.

We are all humans experiencing this crazy thing called life differently. Though tough times are no excuse to treat others poorly, there is huge benefit in being the light in someone's gloomy day. In fact it can create a ripple effect.

This is a short clip which I want to go more into depth with, but felt needed to be shared.

If you find yourself feeling helpless in a world that needs healing, know that you are capable of being a light simply by leading with kindness in every interaction you have.

Tara and I discuss what selfcare really means as she opens up about Hypothyroidism, addiction, anxiety, and finally putting herself first. This powerhouse of a woman is inspiring and down-to-earth, and I am so grateful to have her pop on over her lunch.

As you’ll hear there were some additional noises in the audio, but we just ran with it and continued the conversation – because hey, that’s what we Chronic Momma’s do…we roll with it and make the best of it.

"I believe that finding complete state of balance in life is total crap, Why? Because life is a constant state of ebb and flow, give and take. And when we can embrace the suck, THAT my friend is the moment we shift our perspective and in turn begin to create happiness. Here on The Chronic Momma’s podcast I strive to create engaging content that helps you shift your perspective to see that ebb and flow as the beautiful, messy, opportunity for growth that it really is. My hope is that by listening you feel inspired to take powerful action in your life to create meaningful change."
