Hello listeners, I am so happy to start 2024 off with a new season, a highly requested episode, and a very exciting spiritual journey. Like most cultures, the Lakota culture is centered around their religious beliefs in the Wakan Tanka, or Great Spirit, and the cyclical flow of life. I wanted to take this episode to highlight all the key parts of the Lakota religious foundations and retell the Lakota origin story.

Sharing and listening to this podcast and not allowing those stories to be forgotten is a very good way for you to help!

The Lakota religion has gone through many changes in the last century, but many fragments of their noble religion still exist today, such as pow-wows. It is essential to preserve, retell, and spread the truth about the indigenous people of America, and to sharing their religious beliefs is a very important aspect of this preservation. Hi listeners, thank you for listening to this episode! I hope to make more episodes in the near future! The reservation system was meant to have lands accommodating the original land and lifestyle of First Nations people, but that has not been fulfilled throughout history. Reservations include a painful history of broken promises, stolen lands, and limited help. The Lakota people inhabit 6 reservations in South Dakota, and they struggle with many issues including substance abuse, poverty, and economic issues. Hi listeners, thank you for listening to this episode! I hope to make more episodes in the near future! The Sun Dance was an amazing part of Lakota history and tradition and it is a shame that it cannot be practiced, exactly to tradition, now. The Lakota people had a deep connection with the Wakan Tanka, the Earth and their ancestors, which made the Sun Dance extremely significant. I think that the Sun Dance was a testament to the virtually unbreakable spirit of the Lakota people- and many other First Nations Tribes. Unfortunately, much of the traditions and history of the First Nation's people are being lost to globalization and the cultural removal endured by the Lakota in the early 20th century. But not all hope is lost! Sharing and listening to this podcast and enabling this history to be shared and those stories to be forgotten is a very good way for you to help!

In this episode, I discuss the ethnocide experienced by the Lakota, and other indigenous Americans, during the "Kill The Indian, Save The Man" movement of the late 19th- early 20th centuries. I also take a closer look at the creation of boarding schools and assimilation programs and how those operated and how they adversely impacted the Indigenous Americans.

Hi listeners, thank you for listening to this episode! It's been over 1 1/2 years since I've made an episode for this podcast, but I hope to make more in the near future! The issues discussed in this podcast are important and must not be forgotten. These ethnocide programs were ethically wrong and the events that went on at many of these programs were terrible to the future of the Lakota culture. While this issue affected more Indigenous Americans then just the Lakota, so it is important to understand the broader scope of this issue. While "Kill The Indian, Save The Man" was not a success, many of these nations and their cultures still need help! And sharing and listening to this podcast and not allowing those stories to be forgotten is a very good way for you to help!

In this episode, I take a deep dive into the court cases that decided key issues between the United States and the Fort Laramie treaty and how this document is still very relevant for the justice of the Lakota people today.

Hi friends, and thank you so much for listening to this podcast! It's been a while since I have made one, but I really hope that you all enjoy this kind of part 2 to the episode "From Fort Laramie In 1851 To The Courts In 2020" and since there was much happening since the making of that podcast it was only necessary to dive back into this one. If you like this podcast please please SHARE it to a friend or someone else you think would enjoy it! A basic overview of this podcast is that I talk about and discuss the legal battles of the Sioux Nation in their quest for justice and I also discuss the Fort Laramie Treaty and how it came to be. I also discuss the legal battle of the Keystone Pipeline. I hope that all of you enjoy this episode and I'll try to make more soon about the Black Hills!

In this episode, I go deep inside the Ghost Dance and talk about it and how it ultimately led to Sitting Bull's death.

Hello everyone and thank you so much for continuing to listen and support this podcast! I am so happy to put out another podcast and it has been much too long since I have uploaded a podcast! A general overview of the topics of this podcast is that I go deep into the Ghost Dance. The Ghost Dance originated in Nevada with a prophet named Wovoka and ultimately spread to Plains Indians and became a growing fear for many Americans. The Bureau of Indian Affairs made it against the law to do the Ghost Dance. Because it was in secret, they had to resort to secret ways and those ways cost Sitting Bull his life.

In this podcast, I talk about a Cheyenne chief known as Dull Knife who led his people on a dangerous flight to their homeland in North Dakota. Thank you SO much for listening to this podcast! Happy Independence Day! I hope you all comment and give me some questions to answer on my BRAND NEW blog/ webpage! What you can do is complete one of the surveys I have on there and leave me your comments! On my webpage you can learn more about me, this podcast and this whole Black Hills Are Not For Sale Book & Podcast project that I am doing!!  The Dull Knife flights are such an under-recognized event in Native American history and all history. The Dull Knife flights exhibit extreme bravery and love for culture, as they were yearning for the homeland which is important to Native American culture, especially Lakota! The Dull Knife flights are very cool to learn about and if you enjoyed that story, I would suggest reading a book called Dull Knives of Pine Ridge. It paints a very vivid picture of these events! Lastly, if you want to know more about the Keystone Pipeline and other past and present events in Lakota history I would suggest joining the Black Hills Are Not For Sale Book & Podcast Email List!!
