A first for the 4 O'Clock Ice Cream Podcast - a two-parter!!
We are going to have a fantastic conversation with the best trumpet player in Under Five Nine. It isn't easy managing a band full of young'ns, but when a trumpet player as perfect as Jonny comes across your path you do whatever you have to do to lock him down.
We perform a trio of shows over the course of a long, exciting, nerve-racking weekend. A them begins to emerge - Will Evan show up? And Eddie does his best to screw up our biggest show to date.
In this weeks episode we take a little detour from talking about shows to focusing on the ever looming challenge of recording, producing and distribute a record. With 4 of the 7 of us graduating it was time to make some decisions about our futures and the future of Under Five Nine. Jeremy and Eddie will have a Senior Prom that neither will ever forget and quickly get screwed by The Echoing Green.
A new year brings new opportunities and new challenges. We find ourselves drummer-less moving into 1998 and unsure how we will address this obstacle. With shows lined up time is of the essence to replace a critical ska band component.
Join us, won't you, as we explore what the next step will look like? We will explore new territories and explain the rules to a little game we like to call 'Evandash'!
For most people New Years Eve is a night of hope and joy; an exciting transition full of promise. For Under Five Nine it was an evening fraught with internal discord which will have us finding ourselves down a man. However it is not all doom and gloom when a couple members of the band find some good fortune and we unfold an epic prank!!
This week we will be talking with the infamous (that's when you are more than famous, right?) Damien Clark - the best first drummer of The Crishtones/Under Five Nine. We will give him an opportunity to set the record straight. Amends will be made and we will discuss all things Persian rug related.
Will Under Five Nine survive all of the turmoil and upheaval? Will Daniel and Evan turn out to be the boost we needed or cause further unrest within the ranks? Join us this week to find out. We will speak with Daniel Ruiz about how he handled his new role as we move into the Autumn of 1997.
It is time to hit the road with our new lead singer and new bass player. We venture to Northern Arizona to play our first drummer-less show and our first Flagstaff show. Along the way we will encounter some old friends and make some new ones.
This week we invite Ben Cornelius from Bob to join us and we'll talk about how some adolescent brothers made some poor choices. We also learn how Ben and Eddie's life's would continue to intersect throughout the ensuing decades.

Now that we've said farewell to our original bass player it was time to move forward with our newest member, Evan Spencer. Along the way we will discuss how we made it through our first summer of ska. We keep it local for a bit a play some shows around the Prescott area.
We will bring talk to a good friend, Ben Lippard, from the band Lemonade Stand to talk about what it was like playing a show in Prescott over the 4th of July weekend. For those who remember, the 4th in Prescott was quite the event.

We'll take the stage of the hot new coffee shop for the homeless, The Common Grounds for Aaron's last 2 shows before heading off to beautiful Missouri.

We're going to invite our good friend, and original Crishtone, Aaron Levi back on the show to help remind us just how crazy our Missions Trip to Mexico was.
Plumbing will be questionable as we head south of the border to provide the unsuspecting people of Cananea, Mexico with some music they never asked for.

In 1996, a few youths in rural Arizona set out to form a band. Little did they know this chance encounter would grow into one of the largest Christian ska bands in Arizona between 1997 and 1998.
