TPD Fans,

Well, it's time to make it official.  TPD will be taking a break for a little bit this summer.  In recent weeks, especially the SOLO shows, I've shared some of the details of what's been going on with new show releases and everything is now coming together to create a whirlwind that have pretty much forced me to put down the mic... But just for a little while!  The show WILL be back, with new content, just as soon as I can.  This summer has been hectic already for me and I expect that to continue for the next several weeks.  Even producing these SOLO shows and FLASHBACK episodes have been a bit challenging.

Right now, I have to focus on my professional life a bit.  I'm being laid off from my day job of 11 years and am taking my life in a brand new direction!  That of a business owner!  Right now, I need to dive in, fully, and commit all of my resources into the planning and execution of a successful launch of this enterprise!  Before too long, I hope to find a routine. One that will allow me to bring back TPD stronger than ever!

I'll provide some updates here, but many more on Twitter.  It's my main platform of communication with all of the awesome listeners of TPD!  So, be sure to follow me over there - @poddigest - if you aren't already!

I'm not going to put an exact date of this break, because I really don't know.  And if I have an awesome interview drop in my lap, I may surprise you, so PLEASE stay subscribed and go ahead and check out some of the back catalog if you haven't heard them all!

Thank you all so much and stay tuned!

-Dan

For most of us, sound quality matters a ton with the actual personality of the hosts close behind... But still interested to see where these two concerns shook out.

So, as many of you know I've had the website www.thepodcastdigest.info as the main page for TPD since launch.  The reason for this, in case you were wondering, was two fold.  Basically, I set things up wrong initially AND I wasn't very pleased with Libsyn's previous offering of a website for the the show.  So I set up shop over on Blogger with the .INFO site.

But I never really loved it.. and said it on many shows...

But today, Libsyn launched their new "podcast pages" with a complete redesign.  And it looks a LOT better than the previous incarnation and really looks great on mobile.  So, I'm going to try it out!  I'll still maintain and publish to the .INFO for now (for anyone who has that bookmarked and it still is on my business cards for the show), but for now, I'll be updating all of my info with www.thepodcastdigest.com as the main site for the show.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.  I can't change too much on the site, but if you like or don't like something, I'd love to hear it! (check out the 'About' page, too.. I've really put a bunch of info over there!)

In this episode I was joined by Robert Lamb (@rlamb713) and Kyle Appleyard (@kylewotb) of Shark Dropper Studios (www.sharkdropper.com). They produce several great shows, but we focus on their Fall 2014 release of Dopple Avenue Hurt (Itunes). It's a great radio "film noir" style show that you have to hear to believe!  Hear about how they made it, their plans for the future, how they are involving fans in Season 2, and their altogether amazing efforts with Shark Dropper Studios!

Check back here (or your favorite podcast app!) to listen to the new episode tomorrow.  I'm expecting to release somewhere around Noon EST tomorrow, 9/14.

I'm exciting for the two shows I'll be talking about tomorrow.  Here's a hint.  These are still a little bit of a "newer" show with no celebrity host or anything like that.  I wanted to highlight these shows as I've just been very impressed with thier overall content and show presentation, especially for being somewhat new!  I hope you enjoy!

I'll also be asking for YOUR input on tomorrow's episode!  Let me know what you think!

I wanted to provide you with a quick update. The Podcast Digest is now available on Tune In Radio, Stitcher, and the Windows Phone store. The show has also been accepted to Itunes and Pocketcasts, although propogation is taking a bit longer with those. I've been told they should be visible and searchable by the end of the week.

So far Twitter (@poddigest) has been the most active place for folks engaging with me on the show! Thank you to all of you who have been supportive and helpful with some of my crazy questions.

I've begun my outline for Episode 2 and will be recording this weekend. Hopefull all of the directories will have me fully updated and everyone who would like to listen can find The Podcast Digest easily!

So thrilled to finally launch the very first episode of The Podcast Digest! I've put a lot of work and research into finally getting to this day!  I'm very excited to bring you this new show and I truly hope that it helps you find new shows and that you come back to find out some more subscriptions that should be a part of your regular listening routine.

I hope to also be able to use this show and site to cover recent podcasting news and to talk about some of things that the lovers of this medium would want to know. I'm starting slow right now, focusing on just the mechanics of getting this off the ground.  But soon, I plan to improve this site and maybe even target more than one show per week.  But let's not get ahead of ourselves!

First, if you're reading this, (and I mentioned this at the end of episode 1) where else would you like to see The Podcast Digest?  I'm considering a Google Plus community or maybe a Facebook group.  Love to have one place where we could all go and chat about the show reviews, offer up new suggestions and discus the world of podcasting.  Let me know your thoughts here in the comments or twitter (@poddigest) or shoot me an email (thepodcastdigest@gmail.com).
