Welcome back to NMMU.
Asked myself the question, "if we're all starting podcasts who is actually listening?"
I am.
I'll report back once a week on what caught my attention from a wide range of information.
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”

the Places You’ll Go!
“Do you dare stay out?
Do you dare go in?
And IF you go in –
Should you turn left or right?
Or right and three-quarters?
Or maybe not quite.
You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race,
Down long wiggled roads at break- necking pace
And grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,
Headed I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place…
For people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
Or a bus to come, or a plane to go
Or the mail to come, or the rain to go
Or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
Or waiting around for a Yes or No
Or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite
Or waiting for wind to fly a kite
Or waiting around for Friday night
Or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake
Or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
Or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
Or a wig with curls…
Or Another Chance.”

The thing is, with you I'm in real danger. It seems like a perfect situation, apart from that foul temper of yours, but my relatively inexperienced heart would I fear not recover if I was, once again, cast aside as I would absolutely expect to be. There's just too many pictures of you, too many films. You know, you'd go and I'd be... uh, well buggered basically.

Good afternoon everyone. I am Marion Jones-Thompson, and I am here today because I have something very important to tell you, my fans, my friends, and my family.
Over the many years of my life, as an athlete in the sport of track and field, you have been fiercely loyal and supportive towards me. Even more loyal and supportive than words can declare has been my family, and especially my dear mother, who stands by my side today.
And so it is with a great amount of shame that I stand before you and tell you that I have betrayed your trust. I want all you to know that today I plead guilty to two counts of making false statements to federal agents.
Making these false statements to federal agents was an incredibly stupid thing for me to do, and I am responsible fully for my actions. I have no one to blame but myself for what I have done.
To you, my fans, including my young supporters, the United States Track and Field Association, my closest friends, my attorneys, and the most classy family a person could ever hope for -- namely my mother, my husband, my children, my brother and his family, my uncle, and the rest of my extended family: I want you to know that I have been dishonest. And you have the right to be angry with me.
I have let them down.
I have let my country down.
And I have let myself down.
I recognize that by saying that I'm deeply sorry, it might not be enough and sufficient to address the pain and the hurt that I have caused you. Therefore, I want to ask for your forgiveness for my actions, and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
I have asked Almighty God for my forgiveness.
Having said this, and because of my actions, I am retiring from the sport of track and field, a sport which I deeply love.
I promise that these events will be used to make the lives of many people improve; that by making the wrong choices and bad decisions can be disastrous.
I want to thank you all for your time.
It's friday tomorrow thank God

My favourite Footy teams have won many trophies
I want to tell you about the one time they lost and I learned a lesson. Sport has so much to teach us, and if you’re in to it ,competition that is the. I guess the spoils go to you
BMT - BiG Man Ting kidding Big Match Temperament, at the top of the sporting mountain is an opponent and it takes mamba mentality.
Hernan Crespo , Andrei Shevchenko, Kaka , Seedorf , Pirlo , Maldini , Gattuso, Nesta, Pippo Inzaghi and they lost to a couple lads from a park in merseyside you don’t celebrate till the jobs done, never rest on your laurels when you’re opponents down Bury them.
Remember Istanbul I was In high school in 2005 I went to bed after the first half even as a fan I underestimated Liverpool AC Milan lost. There's always a Steven Gerard on the other side ready to go just a bit further, i think adidas were still using the creative platform 'impossible is nothing' this fits.

“perfect practice makes perfect”
Opening theory in chess is everything because after the opening most times we all know how it will end. I don’t waste an opening my go to is the ‘slav’ defense to avoid ‘Queens Gambit’ and cause I’m from the East Rand ‘Benoni Defense’ the modern variation when I’m playing with black.
Psychologically, you have to have confidence in yourself and this confidence should be based on fact not sleight of hand trust me deception takes practice too.
That’s what chess is about today you break your opponents ego and they learn a lesson and the next day it happens to you. That’s why that moment Chuck is sharing is important most young players suffer from it, blaming yourself because your opponent isn’t doing what you expect you have to adjust.
Whats great about this scene is also that the hustler in the park is played by Maurice Ashley Chess Grandmaster, look at Billions with the details big fan of Brian Koppelman.
Godspeed

Hey,
Being an entrepreneur is simple. i laughed too, well the best are the ones that deal well with uncertainty or rather deal intelligently with uncertainty, mastering the tidal wave, some people prefer chaos weird to aspire to that but understandable as you see.

THE QUOTE IN THIS EPISODE IS FROM THE COUNSELLOR starting Michael Fassbender and a host of other A-listers and it come from a conversation between the cocky counsellor and Jefe at the point that Fassbenders character needs help Jefe’s response is necessary on a Monday, funny the counsellor needs counsel this is a cautionary tale.
Also Taking notes from bumblebee from transformers and using the voices of others to land my message, the cool thing about quotes is they come from everywhere. I spend my life searching for movies, series and documentaries i've never seen or need to see again, thats the spectrum on which emotions will be directed.
On Mondays we re-inspire. Who better than Ari Gold to remind you where to put your motivation.

Episode 5 : #CancelRent (Please!)
IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES
In the words of the good people at Rent Strike South Africa:
The rent strike is an evolving conversation about how regular people can keep themselves safe, sheltered, and fed through the coming months.
The basic premise of the strike is simple: If we can’t work, we can’t pay rent. Instead of being isolated and on your own in worrying about how to pay rent and to feed yourself, regular people can collectively support each other, and can take their lives into their own hands by keeping their rent. Because even as lockdown is lifted bit by bit over coming months, we will still have significant restrictions on movement. Life is not going back to normal any time soon, and the most vulnerable people in our most unequal country will be hit the hardest. Not that normal was good for so many of us. If you keep your rent today, you might be able to buy groceries tomorrow where you wouldn’t have. And that is one of the biggest things you can do to ensure that you will have some money for food going forward, if you had any money at all in the first place. Government is giving some money to people, but it is insufficient, unreliable, and maladministered, so we ask ourselves: What are some real practical ways that we can ensure that we are collectively safe together?

Last episode I spoke to not expressing and internalising everything you think, couldn’t help but cringe watching Kanye’s 1st political rally, I’m not siding with him but if you’ve ever created something, from scratch a thought even the first time you share you sound like a nutter most times, there’s vision in that meltdown mark my words.
That aside my message to Kanye, rest blood only so much one can do in a day.

⚠️ WARNING ⚠️
What’s the Energy?
It’s Monday.
Deal with the things you dislike about yourself, the things you see in each of your folks that must’ve been passed on,the toxic side. Face it at least because if you don’t you’re doomed to become that.
Simple.
In meditation 🧘♂️ we’re told to notice what we think, where thoughts come from, big lesson the majority of the time you shouldn’t be sharing what you think or more importantly internalizing it, we’re a product of what we tell ourselves. Words like manifestation have to arise here, you’re speaking good or bad into existence equally. Use it don’t use it.
We don’t preach here
Today I’m reading a letter from Che Guevara to his Children, his last words, bumped into it on a great website for an even better causes https://letterslive.com/ they organize events to read letters I was sold. I know what the impact of simple words are even if for some they’re indeed just words. This particular letter was read by Russell Brand who I’m a fan of.
Honorable or dishonorable mention to Ghislaine Maxwell. Found closure reading into the darker sides of her story and her fathers influence and later the man who became that figure in her life. You have to Stray from your (Ghis)Laine you are not your parents.
Any back to Che, Brand chose this letter because like Guevara he is a polarizing character but paired they’re perfect. You’re allowed to feel what you want to feel about Ernesto(& Russell)but above all he seemed to be a good dad and made a clear distinction between who he had chosen to be and the life he wanted for them and not just in words.
Here’s to being “Good Revolutionaries”and committing to always making “Good Trouble”
RIP John Lewis

Happy Birthday Mr President!!!!!
Today we begin the lesson with how much I love my Dad, I swear, ask my sister. Me and that guy have butted heads though, many times but I have to give him his flowers he’s a very likeable bloke. my dads like a catchy hook in the end you’re left irritated and you can’t get him out of your head haha.
Why am I speaking about my dad? Oh yes, On his birthday we all have different memories of Mandela I only got to see his final season. His last dance. The tales of the harder parts of his story were also told to me eventually, if there ever was a guy who turned the other cheek, that saying is about him. I attribute his choices to Grace, that’s how he carried himself.
So on this day every year a day before his birthday let’s celebrate all the people that love your Dad /Tata from all over the world whilst you’re at home irritated lol
My favorite memory has to be from his US Visit, scoured the net like a mad man finding the best footage possible of him in the Yankee fit, I thought that image was photoshopped at some point, you’ve seen the Obama In Stussy image that was actually Tom Hardy as a youngin’ deep-fakes anyway, simply he visited Yankee stadium on that tour and what you expect ?!? came through drippin’ ( drip drip)for sure.
Something funny that happened when I searched ‘Mandela’ ‘Yankee’ my home boy Thamsanqa Jantjies popped up I died. Google’s search engine connecting too many dots obviously i mean I get it Yankee / Jantjies.
This episodes quote is from George The Poets ‘My Mandela’ poem tribute https://youtu.be/IHZ2L7um_9E Real name George Mpanga was pleasantly surprised to see he was an immigrant too explains why I gravitated towards this, one of many who love him from far. Mandela Mooi Van Ver, at least for me. Never the latter part of that saying.
He would’ve been 102 this year.
Description won’t always be this long, this one just mattered I guess.
Gonna share a gallery of images in stories super High Def, they’re thousands of images of Mandela I chose specifically to share the ones with Winnie in them she was always there just like your mum next to your irritating dad maybe I also like the idea of them as a happy family whether it was true or not. To all the likeable dads , s/o to Mom.
R.I.P Zindziswa Mandela

SLACKTIVISM- Slacking on your Activism
I thought it was apt to start with a Throwback it's Thursday after all.
I rarely disagree with Barack Obama/Obama/Michelle’s Husband/ Sasha & Malia’s Dad/ Mr President. For me it has to do with feeling like you’re letting down the black community by overly scrutinising his words and undermining our struggle, he’s human he can be wrong.
The address was at The Obama Foundation Summit he was sat next to Yara Shahidi on the dais so you can imagine my spider-sense was under duress . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaHLd8de6nM this clip did the rounds on socials I’m sure many people on first watch missed it.
As he began to wag his finger and begin a soliloquy on call-out culture the glass began to break sentence by sentence. The quote read in the episode is from a written piece by Ernest Owens for the New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/31/us/politics/obama-woke-cancel-culture.html African American Journalist so i wasn't alone in shaking my head. After reading that i was glad to see i was not the only person in the crowd(imaginary) frowning at the points.
What i realised when i started to digest his monologue was that Just like my folks he was a boomer and his opinion /understanding of my generation and generations coming after mine was based on that unfortunate unavoidable lens
now i know, everything with a pinch of salt.
till tomorrow
