As the summer season hits for us all, I wanted to focus the podcast on the topics of raising girls and raising boys. Boys and girls are different in so many ways, and therefore, the approach to raising them must be different as well.

To prepare for this two-part series, I went to Facebook and asked for suggestions for experts on the topic of raising girls. I know many people who have done a successful job at it, but I wanted someone who had turned it into a ministry. The overwhelming answer was Kari Kampakis. Kari is an author, blogger, speaker, and mom of four girls. I enjoyed getting to know Kari and hearing her heart on raising Godly young women.

Next month we will look into the how to best raise boys. Please share this podcast and subscribe at this link. Enjoy my conversation with author and blogger, Kari Kampakis.

In the May edition of my podcast, I interview my mentor and pastor, Jay Wolf on the topic of raising our children to be Biblically sound. I do not know anyone more qualified to speak on this topic. In the episode, we discuss what it means to be the CDO (chief discipling officer) of our kids and then how to help them learn to live scripture at each stage of childhood.

There were many great quotes from our conversation, but the one that sums them all up is: “Allow God’s Word to come alive in your heart and then communicate it to your children.” Jay and Mary Ruth have done this with their four children and now do so with their grandchildren. Many people are aware of Jay’s son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Katherine Wolf (he is referred to as Jason in the podcast), as their story has been shared with millions through their ministry and book, Hope Heals. One thing that I was not aware of, until Jay mentioned it on the podcast, was that we had schedule this interview on the 9th anniversary of Katherine’s stroke. This was a great realization for me as we discussed the impact of Scripture, learned as a child, being applied during a great storm of life.

I hope you enjoy this episode of The Ownership Road Podcast. Please subscribe and share with others who might need to hear this.

The 4th episode of the Ownership Road Podcast is out and it is a doozy. My conversation is with Tal Prince, a Christian counselor and expert on sex addition. For almost an hour, we talk about everything from defining sex addition to how parents can talk about issues of sex to their children. I think the best quote (and there were many) from Tal, was this:

“Parents must be the first and primary source that kids come to for information, particularly about sex and sexuality…and if you lie to them…they are going to find out the truth…then, they are going to go to Google, and Google is not going to tell them, Google is going to show them.”**

This sums it up for us as parents. As hard and uncomfortable as it might be, we must be the ones to talk about sex and sexuality with our kids, because if we do not, Google will. And we don’t want that.
