TRUTH FROM GIDEON’S FAITH

  1. The Lord Is With Me

The Angel of the Lord came and sat under the oak … Gideon was threshing wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. 12 The Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” - Judges 6:11-12

Gideon said to him, “Please tell me this, my lord: If the Lord is with us … why has all this happened to us? Where are all the wonderful acts our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Is it not the Lord who brought us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us, and he has given us into the hand of Midian.” - Judges 6:13

  1. The Lord Sees More In Me Than I See In Myself

The Lord turned to him and said, “Go forward in this strength that is now yours, and you will deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?” - Judges 6:14

He said to the Angel, “Pardon me, my lord, but how can I deliver Israel? Look! My clan is the lowliest in Manasseh, and I—I am the least in my father’s house.” - Judges 6:15

  1. I May Doubt God, But God Doesn’t Doubt Me

Gideon said to him, “If I have now found grace in your eyes, offer me a sign that it is you who are speaking with me. - Judges 6:17

Gideon realized that this was the Angel of the Lord, and he said, “Oh, no! It is the Lord God! Yes, I have seen the Angel of the Lord face-to-face!” 23 But the Lord said to him, “Peace be with you. Do not be afraid. You will not die.” - Judges 6:22-23

  1. I Need To Get Rid Of Any Idols

So the men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son [Gideon]. He must die, because he broke down the altar of Baal and because he cut down the Asherah pole next to it.” - Judges 6:30

  1. I Need To Stop Fleecing God

Then Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have said, 37 look here, I am placing a woolen fleece on the threshing floor. If dew is found only on the fleece, but all the ground around it is dry, then I will know that you will deliver Israel by my hand, as you have said.” - Judges 6:36-37 (Judges 6:39-40 Same Test In Reverse)

  1. I Need To Have Faith In God No Matter What The Odds

Midian’s Army At Least 135,000 Soldiers - Judges 8:10

Gideon’s Army 32,000 Soldiers - Judges 7:3

1 to 4

The Lord said to Gideon, “There are too many people with you for me to give Midian into your hands. If I did that, Israel would glorify itself at my expense and say, ‘My own hand has delivered me.’ - Judges 7:2

A Life Full Of Fear

Peter Denies Knowing Jesus Three Times - Luke 22:56-60

Then he said to him, “Follow me!” – John 21:19 _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. 2 Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. – James 5:1-3 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. You Do Not Use People

Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. – James 5:4

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. You Do Not Live Only For Today

You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the righteous person. He does not resist you. – James 5:5-6 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

IN THE LORD’S PRESENCE

Three Things That Do Happen

  1. You Do Have Patience

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. – James 5:7

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. You Do Have Strength

You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. – James 5:8-9

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. You Do You Have Endurance

As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. – James 5:10-11

LIVING IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

Faith That Works

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

HOW TO LIVE IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

  1. Check Your Plans Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit” - James 4:13 The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. - Proverbs 21:5 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2. Focus What Lasts Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. - James 4:14

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. - 2 Corinthians 4:18

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Trust In The Lord Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” - James 4:15 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2. Turn Away From Sin As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. - James 4:16-17 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

WISE RELATIONSHIPS

Faith That Works

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? – James 4:1

  1. Look To God As Your Source and Supply

You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. – James 4:2

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Practice Generosity

You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. – James 4:3

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Choose God Loving Friends

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. – James 4:4

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Walk In Humility

Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” – James 4:5

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Draw Near To God

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. – James 4:7

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Speak No Evil

Don’t criticize and speak evil about each other, dear brothers. If you do, you will be fighting against God’s law of loving one another, declaring it is wrong. But your job is not to decide whether this law is right or wrong, but to obey it. – James 4:11

DOWNLOADING WISDOM

Faith That Works

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

  • James 1:5

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.

– James 3:13

FALSE WISDOM

But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. – James 3:14-16

WATCH YOUR WORDS

Faith That Works

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

James 3:1-12

  1. Words Create Influence

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

– James 3:1

I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

– Matthew 14:36-37

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Words Show Our Need For God

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. – James 3:2

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. – James 3:7-8

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Words Set Your Direction

If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. – James 3:3

Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. – James 3:4

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Words Can Bring Destruction

So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.

– James 3:5-6

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Words Will Bring Blessings

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? 12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water. – James 3:10-12

FAITH LOOKS DIFFERENT

Faith That Works

Peter Young ~ Pastor at Hope

  1. FAITH doesn’t use the world’s STANDARDS 1 My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. – James 2:1

2 For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, 3 and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,” 4 have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? – James 2:2-4

  1. FAITH doesn’t look at the OUTSIDE but at the HEART 5 Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts? 7 Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called? – James 2:5-7

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

  1. FAITH keeps the ROYAL law – the law of LOVE

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; – James 2:8

‘You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD. – Leviticus 19:18

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Galatians 5:14

  1. FAITH is LOVE in PRACTICE

12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. – James 2:12-13

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

FAITH IS AN ACTION

Faith That Works

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

FAITH RECEIVES GOD’S WORD

  1. We Need To Listen To Receive

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. - James 1:19 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. We Need To Have Peace To Receive

For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. - James 1:20

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. We Need Humility To Receive

So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls. - James 1:21 (AMP) ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

FAITH BELIEVES GOD’S WORD

  1. When Faith Works You Will Be Transformed

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. - James 1:22

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. - James 1:23-24

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. - James 1:25 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. When Faith Works Hurting People Receive Help

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. - James 1:27

If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. - James 2:15-17 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. When Faith Works You Become A Friend Of God

You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. - James 2:22-23 ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

FAITH’S WALK IS WISDOM FOCUSED

James: A Blueprint For Making Faith Work

Sam Farina ~ Guest Speaker at Church of Hope

James 1:1-18

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials (suffering) of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” - James 1:2-4 (ESV)

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” - Proverbs 2:6 (ESV)

“Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea… often without food, in cold and exposure. And …the pressure of… my anxiety for all the churches.”

– 2 Corinthians 11:24-28 (ESV)

WISDOM: GOOD JUDGEMENT, GOOD SENSE

  1. Focus on Wisdom’s Revelation not the Winds of Foolish Reason

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” - James 1:5-6 (ESV)

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Focus on Wisdom’s Purpose not the Wind’s Foolish Problem

“ For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” - James 1:7-8 (ESV) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Focus on Wisdom’s Wonder not Foolish Worry

“Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. Do not be deceived, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father.” – James 1:9-17 (ESV) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2. A Vision That Overcomes Your Feelings So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob's well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. – John 4:5 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  3. A Vision To Share Life Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” – John 4:10 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  4. A Vision To See Beyond The Surface Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. – John 4:16-19 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  5. A Vision To Tell Your Story “Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” … 39 Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.” - John 4:29,39 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

WHAT’S REALLY IMPORTANT?

2020 Vision

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people. - Ephesians 1:18

OPEN EYES HAVE VISION FOR WHAT’S REALLY IMPORTANT

  1. Winning People Who Are Far From God “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9 Then Jesus said to them, “So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the Good News. – Mark 16:1 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2. Building People In Their Faith I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong — 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. – Romans 1:11-12 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. – Colossian 2:6-7 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  3. Connecting People With Their God Given Purpose And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function]. – 1 Corinthians 12:27 AMP Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. – 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

CHAZON

2020 Vision

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

Where there is no vision, the people perish. – Proverbs 29:18

Chazon: sight, i.e. A dream, revelation, or oracle -- vision.

  1. A Vision Of Who God Is In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. - Isaiah 6:1 And one [of the angels] called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” - Isaiah 6:3 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. - 2 Corinthians 5:17 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. – Ephesians 2:10 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. - Galatians 3:26 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. A Vision Of Our Divine Destiny And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” – Isaiah 6:8 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:1-2 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SERVE LIKE JESUS

The Church Defined

Peter Young ~ Pastor at Hope

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God…made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! – Philippians 2:5-8 NIV

You can do acts of service and still not be a servant if your motivation is rooted in selfish ambition, if your intended outcome is recognition, and if your ultimate purpose is to benefit yourself in some way…true servanthood begins with selflessness.

To be LIKE Jesus...We must SERVE like Jesus

How did Jesus serve?

  1. With compassion – Serving stirred Jesus’ emotions “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” - Matthew 9:35-36

  2. With consistency – Jesus took EVERY opportunity “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” – Acts 10:38 3. With creativity – Jesus used what was at hand

When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. – John 9:6

  1. Without reservation – Jesus didn’t discriminate

“Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.” – John 4:9

  1. With humility and love – Jesus took up the towel

“Jesus rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” – John 13:4-6

“For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you." – John 13:15

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” – John 13:34

True servanthood begins with selflessness, maintains humility throughout, and ultimately seeks the good of others which requires the right heart attitude and sacrifice!

GIVE LIKE JESUS The Church Defined Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

The Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35

LEARNING GENEROSITY FROM JESUS

  1. Give To Honor God

Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also … 24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. – Matthew 6:20,21,24

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; - Proverbs 3:9 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Give To See The Impossible Become Possible

But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” – Mark 6:37 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Give To Overcome Materialism

And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” – Mark 12:43-44 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Give To Increase Blessings

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. – Luke 6:38 Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Live In The Light

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. – 1 John 1:5,7

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Live In Excellence

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. LOVE LIKE JESUS

The Church Defined

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” - John 14:34

Unconditional Love Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. - Luke 10:31-33 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” - Luke 6:27-28 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2. Purposeful Love He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. - Luke 10:34 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. - John 3:16-17 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  3. Merciful Love Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.” – Luke 10:36-37 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. 2. God’s Presence Is Personal “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.” – John 16:13-14

  3. God’s Presence Has To Be Pursued “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” - James 4:7-8

ONCE UPON A PROSTITUTE

Never Give Up

Holly Russo – Pastor at HOPE

“By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.”

  • Hebrews 11:31

HOW ARE YOU KNOWN

  1. Don’t count yourself out

“But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, ‘Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them.’”

– Joshua 2:4-5

“Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of King David.”

– Matthew 1:5-6

  1. Don’t compare and condemn “And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.”

  2. Hebrews 11:32-34

  3. Don’t compete for someone else’s calling “In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?” – James 2:25

BREAKING DOWN WALLS Never Give Up! Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

WALLS TODAY

W :: Worry “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” - Matthew 6:25 A :: Anger “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” - Ephesians 4:31 L :: Loneliness “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6 L :: Lies “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” - John 8:44 S :: Skepticism “And Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, “Be taken up and thrown into the sea” it will happen.’” - Matthew 21:21

HOW TO BREAK DOWN THE WALLS OF LIFE 1. Meet The Lord “Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’ ‘Neither,’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?’” – Joshua 5:13-14

  1. See The Walls Coming Down “Then the LORD said to Joshua, ‘See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.’” - Joshua 6:2

  2. Take The Next Step “March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days… On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.” - Joshua 6:3-4

  3. Keep Walking By Faith “The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, ‘Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!’” - Joshua 6:16

FAITH TO LEAD

Never Give Up

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

(God says) “’So now I am sending you to the king of Egypt. Go! Bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt!’ But Moses said to God, ‘I am not a great man! How can I go to the king and lead the Israelites out of Egypt?’” – Exodus 3:10-11

“It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt. He was not afraid of the king. Moses kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.” - Hebrews 11:27

DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP

  1. Leadership Begins At Home “By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.” - Hebrews 11:23

  2. Leadership Marches To A Different Drum “By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.” - Hebrews 11:24

  3. Leadership Means Seeing The Big Picture “He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.” – Hebrews 11:25-26

  4. Leadership Prepares People For Change “By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.” - Hebrews 11:28

  5. Success Means We – See It – Say It – Seize It “By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.” - Hebrew 11:29

FAITH IS MORE THAN A DREAM

Never Give Up

Peter Young ~ Pastor at Hope

“By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.” - Hebrews 11:22

Joseph was MORE than a Dreamer

He Lived a Faith-Filled Life

  1. As a young person – Faith to Share the Dream “This is the history of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers.” - Genesis 37:2 “Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.” - Genesis 37:5

“Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.” - Genesis 37:9

  1. As a young man – Faith to Live Beyond a Comfort Zone “The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.” - Genesis 39:2-3

“There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” - Genesis 39:9

“Then Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.” - Genesis 39:20 “The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper.” - Genesis 39:23

  1. As a mature leader – Faith to Save His Family

Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” – Genesis 41:46,44

And he (Jacob) said, “Indeed I have heard that there is grain in Egypt; go down to that place and buy for us there, that we may live and not die.”- Genesis 42:2

“And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.” - Genesis 45:7

  1. As an old man – Faith for the Future

“And Joseph said to his brethren, “I am dying (at 110 years); but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” Then Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”” - Genesis 50:24-25, 26

“By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.” - Hebrews 11:22

DON’T SETTLE FOR WHERE YOU ARE!

Never Give Up Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” - Hebrews 11:8

WHY SOME PEOPLE RESIST CHANGE

 We Fear The Unknown “How do you know what is going to happen tomorrow? For the length of your lives is as uncertain as the morning fog—now you see it; soon it is gone.” - James 4:14

 We Fear Loss We fear we will lose something because of change. “But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” - Philippians 3:7-8

 We Fear Failure “If you fail under pressure, your strength is not very great.” - Proverbs 24:10

MOVING FORWARD IN LIFE

  1. Look Towards The Future “For he (Abraham) was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”
  2. Hebrews 11:10 “We are saved by trusting. And trusting means looking forward to getting something we don’t yet have—for a man who already has something doesn’t need to hope and trust that he will get it.” - Romans 8:24

  3. Lay Down The Past “No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.”

  4. Genesis 17:5 “By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice.” - Hebrews 11:17

  5. Live By Faith “By faith Abraham … obeyed and went … By faith he made his home … By faith Abraham … become a father … By faith Abraham … offered Isaac” - Hebrews 11:8,9,11,17

  6. Long For Something Better “Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

  7. Hebrews 11:16

“By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.” - Hebrews 11:11

Sarah was promised to be the mother of many nations at age 65/66 but remained childless until 90.

FOR THE TIME IN BETWEEN

“Is anything to difficult for the Lord?”

  1. Consider the source

“By Faith Sarah herself received power to conceive even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.” - Hebrews 11:11

  1. Hold onto Faith even when: ______________ “By Faith Sarah herself received power to conceive even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.” - Hebrews 11:11

  2. Hold onto faith in His plan instead of forcing yours Abrahams’ Plan: Genesis 15:2

Sarah’s Plan: Genesis 16:2

God’s Plan: Genesis 15:4, Genesis 17:16

  1. In the in between don’t lose sight of the big picture

“But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.” - Romans 9:6-8

“By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.” - Hebrews 11:5 “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” - Genesis 5:24

WALKING WITH GOD MEANS

  1. Taking One Step At A Time

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” - Matthew 6:34

  1. Walking Forward Into New Things

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Quit praying and get the people moving! Forward, march!” - Exodus 14:15

  1. God Is Not Finished With Us

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

  • Philippians 1:6

HOW TO WALK WITH GOD ALL THE WAY TO HEAVEN

  1. W - We Need To Worship Everyday

“We will praise God every day; we will praise your name forever.” - Psalm 44:8 “The Father is looking for people like that to worship him… God is spirit. Those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” - John 4:23-24

  1. A - We Need To Hold On To The Attitude Of Christ

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”

  • Philippians 2:5 v. 4 – Selfless - thinking of others v. 7 – Service – took on the form of a servant v. 8 – Sacrifice - became obedient to death on a cross.

  • L - We Need To Stay In The Light

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” - 1 John 1:7

  1. K - We Need To Know Our Ultimate Outcome

“I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.” - 1 John 5:13

FAITH THAT SAVES A FAMILY

Never Give Up

Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” - Hebrews 11:7

  1. Faith Listens To God’s Warnings

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen…” - Hebrews 11:7

“As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.” – Matthew 24:37-40

  1. Faith Dares To Be Different

“By faith Noah… condemned the world…” - Hebrews 11:7

“…Noah showed that the world was wrong…” - Hebrews 11:7 (NCV)

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” - Romans 12:2

  1. Faith Brings Us Into One Big Happy Family

“By faith Noah … became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” - Hebrews 11:7

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” – Romans 8:17

“And now this word to all of you: You should be like one big happy family, full of sympathy toward each other, loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds.” - 1 Peter 3:8

  1. Faith Builds An Ark To Save A Family

“By faith Noah … built an ark to save his family…” - Hebrews 11:7

· We Build With Grace

“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” - Acts 20:32

· We Build With Love

“…We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.” - 1 Corinthians 8:1

· We Build With Prayer

“But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.” - Jude 20

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” - Hebrews 11:1

Faith is God-given CONVICTION based on a VISION that produces ACTION.

“By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.” – Hebrews 11:4

BACKGROUND

“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” - Genesis 2:17

“Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.” – Genesis 3:7

“So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” – Genesis 3:10

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” – Genesis 3:15

“And the Lord God made clothes of skins for Adam and his wife, and dressed them.” – Genesis 3:21

“And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.” – Genesis 4:3-5

“So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” – Genesis 4:6-7

“But without faith it is impossible to please [God] Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

THREE REASONS FAITH PLEASES GOD

  1. Faith Centers On God

“By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.” – Hebrews 11:4

  1. Faith Brings Us Into Right Relationship With God

“By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.” – Hebrews 11:4

  1. Faith Leaves A Legacy

“By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.” – Hebrews 11:4

Faith is God-given CONVICTION based on a VISION that produces ACTION.

  1. Faith Is God-Given Conviction Now faith is the substance ... - Hebrews 11:1

· Substance = hupostasis

· hupo = under

· stasis = stand

· hupostasis = title deed

“He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” - Romans 4:20-21 “…For He Himself (The Lord) has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” – Hebrews 13:5-6

  1. Faith Is God-Given Vision “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for…”

  2. Hebrews 11:1 “For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.” - Romans 8:24-25

· Noah Saw An Ark Of Safety · Abraham Saw The Promised Land · Sarah Saw A Baby · Moses Saw His People Being Set Free · Joshua Saw Victory Over Jericho

· David Saw Goliath Being Defeated

  1. Faith Is God-Directed Action “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” - Hebrews 11:1 “So then, as the body without the spirit is dead, also faith without actions is dead.” – James 2:26

WAYS OF LISTENING TO THE LORD

  1. God’s Word

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” - 2 Timothy 3:1

  1. Voice Of The Holy Spirit

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.” - John 16:13 “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” - Romans 8:14

  1. Spiritual Gifts

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit … to another prophecy. – 1 Corinthians 12:7-1

  1. Godly Friends

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” - Proverbs 11:14

“…Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” – 2 Corinthians 13:1

  1. The Peace Of God

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

“I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” – Revelation 3:8

OPEN DOOR = OPPORTUNITIES

PERMITTING JEZEBEL

“But I have this complaint against you. You are permitting that woman—that Jezebel who calls herself a prophet—to lead my servants astray. She teaches them to commit sexual sin and to eat food offered to idols.” – Revelation 2:20

FIVE EFFECTS OF THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT

  1. Manipulation “But I have this complaint against you. You are permitting that woman—that Jezebel who calls herself a prophet—to le my servants astray. She teaches them to commit sexual sin and to eat food offered to idols.” – Revelation 2:20

  2. Fear “Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there.” – 1 Kings 19:3

  3. Isolation “Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die…” – 1 Kings 19:4
  4. Exhaustion “…’I have had enough, Lord,’ he said. ‘Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.’” – 1 Kings 19:4
  5. Depression “…He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. ‘I have had enough, Lord,’ he said. ‘Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.’” – 1 Kings 19:4

OVERCOMING THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT

“…those who commit adultery with her will suffer greatly unless they repent and turn away from her evil deeds. I will strike her children dead...” – Revelation 2:22-23 “But I also have a message for the rest of you in Thyatira who have not followed this false teaching (‘deeper truths,’ as they call them—depths of Satan, actually). I will ask nothing more of you except that you hold tightly to what you have until I come.” – Revelation 2:24-25

  1. Know Where Your Truth Comes From

“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Pergamum. This is the message from the one with the sharp two-edged sword.” - Revelation 2:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” -Hebrews 4:12

  1. Know Where You Live

“I know that you live in the city where Satan has his throne, yet you have remained loyal to me. You refused to deny me even when Antipas, my faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city.” - Revelation 2:13

  1. Pay Attention To The Small Things

“But I have a few complaints against you. You tolerate some among you whose teaching is like that of Balaam, who showed Balak how to trip up the people of Israel. He taught them to sin by eating food offered to idols and by committing sexual sin.” - Revelation 2:14

  1. Let God Give You Your Identity “Repent of your sin, or I will come to you suddenly and fight against them with the sword of my mouth.” - Revelation 2:16

“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.” - Revelation 2:17

GIVING MAKES US GROW Be The One Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope

  • FAITH: 246 Times * HOPE: 185 Times
  • LOVE: 733 Times * GIVING: 2,285 Times

2 Corinthians 8:7 - Since you excel in so many ways -- in your faith … your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love . . . -- I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.

HOW GIVING BRINGS GROWTH

  1. Giving Makes Me More Like The Lord James 1:5 - God is generous to everyone and doesn't find fault with them. 1 Chronicles 29:14 - Everything we have has come from you, Lord, and we can only give you what is yours already!

  2. Giving Draws Me Closer To God Matthew 6:21 - Your heart will be wherever your treasure is.

  3. Giving Breaks The Grip of Materialism Matthews 6:24 - You cannot serve both God and money. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 - Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them ... to be generous and willing to share. In this way . . . they may take hold of the life that is truly Life.

  4. Giving Strengthens My Faith 2 Corinthians 9:13 - It is a proof of your faith. Many people will praise God because you obey the Good News of Christ—the gospel you say you believe—and because you freely share with them and with all others. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 - Everyone must make up his own mind as to how much he should give . . . for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes. God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others.

  5. Giving Is An Investment For Eternity 1 Timothy 6:18-19 - Use your money to do good . . . always being ready to share with others whatever God has given you. By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven -- it is the only safe investment for eternity! And they will be living a fruitful Christian life down here as well." Ecclesiastes 11:1 - Give generously, for your gifts will return to you later.

  6. Giving Blesses Me In Return Proverbs 22:9 - Generous people will be blessed . . . Deuteronomy 15:10 - Give generously . . . and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.
