Dom Furukawa is one of the founders of the LA based non-profit We Foster LA. Her organization focuses on caring for the children in the foster care system and the families that love them. In this episode, Dom shares about her background in social work, her adoption journey, and how we can all help those in the foster care system. Rob and Amy Hehre are Physician Assistants who opened a pediatric hospital caring for vulnerable and orphaned children in Kenya. Their organization, OVI Healthcare, focuses on healing and empowering the world’s most vulnerable populations. In this episode, Rob discusses how him and Amy started OVI, what it’s like practicing medicine overseas, and his thoughts on short term mission trips.

Sam & Jessica Jakaitis share about their life in Haiti caring for orphaned children. They have worked and lived in Haiti for over 6 years working for In His Hands Orphans Outreach. In this episode, they recount their journey to Haiti, what it's like to care for orphaned children, and how taking care of these vulnerable children has impacted their own lives. Sam & Jessica share how they find meaningful purpose in loving these children. Most importantly, they remind us of the good that comes from being selfless.
Bernice is a graduate of Princeton University and most recently Emory Medical School and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She will be starting her residency training at the University of Chicago in Emergency Medicine. She hopes to use her training in medicine and public policy to address health and social disparities on both individual and systemic levels. In this episode, Bernice shares her journey of studying at the most prestigious educational institutions and how she hopes to enact change. She also addresses how society can respond following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
Anu George Canjanathoppil serves as executive director of International Justice Mission (IJM) Canadian branch. Prior to her role as executive director, she served with IJM in South Asia. She and colleagues at IJM helped free over 10,000 people trapped in labor slavery. She has trained over more than 17,000 police, government officials, and NGOs on the rescue and rehabilitation of individuals trapped in slavery and bringing the criminals to justice. In this episode, Anu shares her experience freeing those trapped in labor slavery and what we can do to stop trafficking in our lifetime.

She is trained in trauma informed care which is an essential part of her job working with some of the world's most vulnerable children.
